"A beam of light amid the darkness" Last summer, I had the privilege to visit the Behala Blind School for a day tour. I took the opportunity to spend the day with the students in their classrooms and workshops. The day was filled with enriching interactions, witnessing the resilience and creativity of the students. Behala Blind School, nestled in a heritage building, is operational for more than a century now. It has currently 300 odd students of various age group who are daily participating in the various educational pursuits , recreational activities and empowerment workshops. Throwback to our annual Day on The Bay event! Held in collaboration with Deafblind Victoria (DBV), the event was attended by 80 people who are deafblind and their support. We have partnered with the Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron for 15 years to host this event, who kindly donated their speed boats, vintage cars and staff members to help for the day. Our clients and staff enjoyed a drive along Beach Road and a beautiful scenic boat ride. The Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron also put on a delicious lunch for the group. Kursdag två i Stockholm! Betydligt sämre väder idag, så jag skyndade mig ett gå på toa på morgonen för att få gå tillbaka in! Men det blev värre, för på väg tillbaka från lunchen började det snöa! Urk! Vi hade en stund på oss när kursen var slut tills bort tog skulle gå, så vi tog tunnelbanan en bit och tog oss till Dog Bakery!ä, där matte köpte en pupcake till mig som extra belöning gör att jag jobbat så duktigt. Sen hamnade vi lite i tidsnöd, fick jogga genom Stockholm C och kom fram till vårt tåg med bara tre minuter till godo, men fram kom vi! Jag har ätit min pupcake och sen sovit några timmar på tåget. We rescued Lena & her adult daughters from a meat broker before they were sent to auction for the holidays. They all arrived with an eye infection that sadly ruptured Lena’s eyes. Dr. P did surgery to remove both her eyes which were incredibly painful after rupturing and Lena is now thriving! She has adapted amazingly well. Thanks to your support, we were able to build the girls their own area with a barn identical to our quarantine barn which Lena was familiar with so that the transition was as easy as possible for her. After spending a month in our medical space, Lena was reunited with her adult daughters Bridget & Lena, they were all so happy to be together again. Then 2 weeks ago, Bridget gave birth to twins Murphy & Tate who she was very newly pregnant with at the time of their rescue. Lena is so good with the babies and they love their Grandma Lena! Every life that we save, receives top-tier care. From the best feed to medical care including specialty care, we go above and beyond to meet their individual needs. Although we are an adoption based rescue, for some of our rescues, like Lena, we become their forever home.
