I really enjoyed this book! It would be the perfect Halloween read! I do wish there was a little more to the ending but I know @authornatashapreston likes to leave the endings for you to interpret in some of her books, but I could have gone for a better ending to this book. I do recommend this book for an easy creepy Halloween read!

📚 Dead Girls Can’t Smile ✍️ @nicholehtheauthor This is a really good YA thriller. It is fast paced, there’s a lot of action, it’s easy to read, and it will keep you guessing. It was hard to know who to trust and who to not trust, which was a great aspect of the book. I especially enjoyed the alternating chapters where one was in the present, and one was in the past but with a timeline that was being brought into the present so that they intertwined together. There are some heavy topics in this one, so do read the trigger warnings that the author has listed in the beginning of the book. There is predatory behavior by an adult, and it is uneasy to read about at times, though the author didn’t put anything too graphic in the book. However, you could just imagine it. There is a touch of romance, but it’s high school kids so it doesn’t really feel like romance. At least, I didn’t feel any undying love and connection between the characters. I will say this – while the ending was good, I wanted just a bit more. I wanted to know what was going to happen between Rose and another one of the characters. I wanted to see more into the future for certain characters (I can’t say anything more because I don’t want to give anything away). 🔪The Reappearance of Rachel Price 🔪 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🔪This is a true crime mystery thriller and I absolutely loved it. 🔪The book is about Bel Price, and her family following the disappearance of her mom when Bel was a baby. The case has been dragged back into the spotlight now Bel’s family are doing a true crime documentary on the case. However, when Rachel (Bels mom) reappears out of the blue it shifts the whole documentary and story in a way I never expected. 🔪I loved Bel in this, Bel is not perfect but she is perfectly flawed and very relatable. For her, as an 18-year-old, who feels abandoned she struggles to understand the stories about her mom’s disappearance but then also her reappearance. I enjoyed her as the protagonist however I understand why some people did not enjoy just how cold she could be at times. 🔪I loved the docu crew and especially loved Ash, he was the light to Bels darkness. His character added a lot of humour and was there for Bel in ways I adored. 🔪The plot was quick and the last 30% flew for me, in true Holly Jackson style there were many twists I did not see coming at all and, for me, I loved it. ❤️I am actually going to see Holly Jackson at the Hay Festival and I cannot wait ❤️ 💭Let me know your thoughts

I had my theories about what was happening in the book and then something would happen and I would get a new theory and then something else would happen and then I just gave up and went along with the ride. And it is a CRAZY ride!! High recommend for any YA thriller/mystery collection — there is a touch of romance that seems mostly obligatory and doesn’t really get in the way or feature too prominently. It's Wednesday. That means another couple of snippets from my "translation in progress" the supernatural YA thriller "The Ancestors". So how are things going? Well, I finished my fourth (or is that fifth?) draft this week. I'll be making a few changes to it, then it's off to my first reader. Der er i det hele taget noget over bogens opbygning, som jeg tror fungerer bedre i den fysiske bog. Uden at vide det præcist, det var bare en fornemmelse jeg fik mens jeg lyttede. Det er et imponerende efterforskningsarbejde vores hovedperson formår at lave, og jeg undrede mig over at politiet ikke gjorde det samme. Derfor kunne jeg jo heller ikke lade være med at gætte på en mulig gerningsmand, og om der lå noget bag, som politiet ikke ville have frem. Bogen er en anelse til den lange side. 📷 Book Review: Keep You by @christophermtantillo ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It’s incredibly hard for me to find a book I can’t put down, but Keep You was one of them. This story is gripping. I couldn’t read it fast enough (even though I didn’t want the book to end). I caught myself sneaking chapters during work (shhhh) and staying up way too late. There are a lot of twists and turns in this book, so I don’t want to give too much away. I loved how Tantillo masterfully weaved the mystery throughout, which kept me guessing. I would think one thing was going to happen, and then something completely unexpected would happen instead. The plot is unique, the pacing perfect, and the characters real. I absolutely loved Hadlee. She’s such a strong FMC. But Dev holds a special place in my heart. He’s such a sweet and amazing character, even when his life is falling apart. Of course, I can’t forget Aiden, Dev’s best friend. The text message exchanges were hilarious, and I absolutely loved every time Aiden was in a scene. I adored his loyalty to Dev and the levity he brought to the book. I absolutely loved this book. It’s an incredible emotional coming-of-age story that has mystery, secrets, lies, and witty banter. I cannot recommend it enough. I’m impatiently waiting for the next book! What a twisty, turny story! Bell’s mom disappears right in front of her as a baby and after 16 years of not knowing what happened to her, a documentary crew comes to get their side of the story. Cue all the twists, turns and f*&ks. This was a wild ride. I loved the revealing of secrets, both big and small throughout. Also, the unlikely friendship between Bell and Ash - both complicated and hilarious. I did think, however, this book could’ve been shortened a bit. It is soooo long for the short time span that the story is telling. All in all, I enjoyed it and would recommend. My take-away: Family is beyond complicated and stressful. oh i fear i am obsessed with this book series so far i started this book on sunday and finished it last night (past my usual early bird bed time mind you, so you know it was GOOD. i literally couldn’t put it down) dare i say i enjoyed this one a little bit more than the first one! and definitely wish some things at the end had been expanded on a bit more but overall this was a solid 4.5 ⭐️ from me!

The day is finally here. My second book, Keep You, is now live and out in the world in hardcover, paperback, and ebook. The audiobook will be available later this summer. This was a book that I honestly thought would never see the light of day. From the moment I conceived of it in 2016, and had very mixed beta feedback in 2017, I knew it wasn’t a story that everyone would love. It was shelved out of fear of how others would react to it. If I had any right to put this out there. If readers would understand what I was going for and why it ended the way it did. I ALMOST drastically changed this story based on feedback from 2017, which would have been a vastly different story. I’m glad I kept it the same. I hope this book finds the readers who need it. The ones that feel like they are screaming and no one is listening. Or the ones that cannot scream. I hear you. I see you. Silence is not an option. I’m under no assumption that my little self-published book has any kind of power to enact change in how we talk about mental health and trauma and survivors. But, if it can help one person. Just one person… then that’s a win to me. I believe that sometimes, all it takes is one person to make a difference. One person who sees us. Who recognizes our pain. The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson🎥🔴 Genre: YA Thriller/ Mystery I think we all know by now that the queen @hojay92 is one of my all time favourite authors and I get SO excited any time she releases a new book so I had to dive straight into this novel. I honestly had no idea what to expect as the synopsis doesn't really give you much information at all and I sometimes feel that it is for the best. I went into this book unknowingly and I think it had a better outcome because of it. This follows Bel whose mother disappeared when she was a baby, but has never been found. This case has become so famous that a film crew come to the Price's household to film a documentary all about 'The disappearance of Rachel Price.' It's difficult to go into grand detail without spoiling anything - so I won't be doing that - but I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
