The history of tarot cards is a fascinating journey that spans centuries and involves various cultures. While the exact origins of tarot cards are shrouded in mystery, it is believed that they originated in the 15th century, likely in Italy or France. The earliest known tarot decks were created as a game, similar to modern-day playing cards. Chapter 2: Empaths, Emotions, and Health -“An empath’s body is different from other people’s. We feel everything. Our bodies are porous so we absorb the positive and negative energies around us into our muscles, tissues, and organs… On the positive side, we’re able to sense other people’s vitality, happiness, and love within ourselves… We can even manifest what I call ‘empathic illness,’ where we experience someone else’s physical symptoms as if they were our own.” -In Orloff’s medical practice, her treatment for empaths is integrated with energy medicine, intuition, and spirituality. -Orloff then provides self-assessments to figure out whether one is a physical or emotional empath, or both. -“Empathic Illnesses” touches on the idea that empaths can pick up on others' symptoms and therefore aggravate their own chronic conditions. Chapter 1: Are You an Empath? -Orloff begins by introducing herself and her background as a physician and specialization in treating highly sensitive people (HSP). She elaborates that because she is an HSP and an empath, this is a topic she is extremely passionate about. “I want to share with you how I became a balanced, empowered, and happy empath. To thrive, you must learn ways to avoid taking on the energy, symptoms, and stress of others. I also want to educate your loved ones and peers… on how to best support and communicate with you. Chapter 10: Calling on Ancestral Power -“ In this chapter, we’ll be delving into a topic that will be exciting for some and controversial among others: ancestral magic. If you’re not used to talking about magic, it can feel strange or even a bit goofy to read about it for the first time. Most churches tell us that magic is supernatural and the people who practice it are evil. Meanwhile, secular society tells us that magic isn’t real and the people who believe in it are foolish. And yet, magic has a timeless appeal.” -“The famous English occultist Aleister Crowley defined magic-- which he spelled ‘magick’ in order to differentiate it from card tricks, as ‘the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will.’” -“The Morality of Magic” touches upon misconceptions surrounding doing magic for personal gain and harming others. Vaudoise argues that you can absolutely do magic for personal gain, and that anything could potentially harm another person. -“Why Do some Spells Succeed but Others Fail?” discusses the fear of failure and disappointment. Vaudoise then tells us how her love spells were failing until she reached a moment of clarity in realizing what she really wanted in a partner and knew what to ask for. “Weeks later, I found myself at a party in England.
