The time is upon us where the thin veil of Autumn has arrived and the energy is strong. This is a time where we may feel more inclined to celebrate and embrace Spirit. Especially those of our ancestors and loved ones. Communing with them, calling them forth and feeling their closeness. I thought I would share a peek into my personal work with my ancestors and loved ones and how I honor their lives and lineage as we prepare for the arrival of Samhain. Some of the ways I like to honor them is by holding a sacred space for them. I place their photos within the space, write prayers and sing their favorite songs. I always make sure to have fresh water and often share my personal bakes with them. I will practice divination with them in the form of tarot as well so that I may journal and reflect on lessons and reoccurring themes within our lineage that may be present in my own life currently. Your ancestral practice is personal and does not necessarily need to be those whom you have genetic ties to either but anyone who took part in shaping your life and story today. I've been feeling a bit off today, quite stressed about a couple of things so I decided to light my incense and ground with rose quartz for self love. It is feeling Autumn this morning here in New England! 🍂🍁👻 The leaves are beginning to fall and the crisp air of the Autumn equinox is slowly rolling in. This is truly my favorite time of year. I am someone who absolutely prefers cold and cool weather to hot. I feel myself come alive in these months and I find myself closer to Spirit. The season is changing into not only something visually encapsulating, but something transformative. The trees are giving us one more grand show before taking a much deserved and needed rest. I always like to save some leaves from this season. While so many are quick to take and remove, I find them to be a gift. A reminder of the beings and the wisdom that reside in these trees. They are a reminder of the many gifts they provide throughout the grow season and that all things must find solace and take rest. One ways I utilize the fallen leaves of Autumn are in my compost. Dead leaves are a natural material full of carbon necessary for the decomposition process. They also bring vital nutrients to the soil so it is best to let them be on you grass as well! Becoming a mother was one of the best things that ever happened to me. It’s cliché I know, but that does not negate the truth. There was a time I felt fearful. A time no one really talks about where you suddenly realize everything has changed. A time nobody could prepare you for. Nothing is as it once was, and nothing is what you thought it would be. I am not fearful to admit this struggle I faced that my life was no longer my own. As a Taurus, the head of the bull came out at the first sight of change and uncomfortability. I look back now and think…what were you so afraid of? For she is the light and wonder of my life. There is nothing I won’t give for her. We begin and end our days together. She watches me. She learnsfrom me. It’s has not been without challenge but it has been with great reward. As I look at this toddler in front of me I feel pride as well. I did it. I made it. I overcame. I conquered Death, I conquered fear and here she is right in front of me. Frolicking fields and chasing the Sunsets and not only did I make it, but so did she. This week has made me realize how comfortable and connected I am in my home. This dwelling protects me and my family. It has seen some of my highest highs and lowest lows. Heart Healing Poppet❣️ Some occult needlecraft for you today. I have been utilizing this poppet for a few weeks now and it has truly been one of my favorite healing spells to date. Some tips for creating this poppet are to create an incantation you can speak while crafting. This will help add energy to the working and set intentions in place. The Witch’s Torch: Hag Tapers 🕯️ Hag tapers are traditionally crafted using ripened mullein stalks that have been dried and dipped in beeswax. In folklore these torches were used to protect against ill will, malefic and sorcery. It’s mushroom month so allow me to introduce my most used medicinal mushroom, Lions Mane! This mushroom has been used in traditional folk medicine for its ability to improve cognitive function, memory, emotional state and over all well being. Thought to give you the “memory of a lion” it was often used my spiritual practitioners as an aid during spiritual practices such as meditation. One of my favorite ways to utilize this mushroom is in the form of a tincture or powder. To craft your tincture fill a mason jar about 3/4 of the way with dried chopped mushrooms. Top with an alcohol of your choosing that is at least 80 proof or above. I prefer 120 proof for this extraction specifically. Allow to sit in a cool dark place for at least 4-6 weeks! It is feeling Autumn this morning here in New England! 🍂🍁👻 The leaves are beginning to fall and the crisp air of the Autumn equinox is slowly rolling in. This is truly my favorite time of year. I am someone who absolutely prefers cold and cool weather to hot. I feel myself come alive in these months and I find myself closer to Spirit. The season is changing into not only something visually encapsulating, but something transformative. The trees are giving us one more grand show before taking a much deserved and needed rest. I always like to save some leaves from this season. While so many are quick to take and remove, I find them to be a gift. A reminder of the beings and the wisdom that reside in these trees. They are a reminder of the many gifts they provide throughout the grow season and that all things must find solace and take rest. One ways I utilize the fallen leaves of Autumn are in my compost. Dead leaves are a natural material full of carbon necessary for the decomposition process. They also bring vital nutrients to the soil so it is best to let them be on you grass as well! Becoming a mother was one of the best things that ever happened to me. It’s cliché I know, but that does not negate the truth. There was a time I felt fearful. A time no one really talks about where you suddenly realize everything has changed. A time nobody could prepare you for. Nothing is as it once was, and nothing is what you thought it would be. I am not fearful to admit this struggle I faced that my life was no longer my own. As a Taurus, the head of the bull came out at the first sight of change and uncomfortability. I look back now and think…what were you so afraid of? For she is the light and wonder of my life. There is nothing I won’t give for her. We begin and end our days together. She watches me. She learnsfrom me. It’s has not been without challenge but it has been with great reward. As I look at this toddler in front of me I feel pride as well. I did it. I made it. I overcame. I conquered Death, I conquered fear and here she is right in front of me. Frolicking fields and chasing the Sunsets and not only did I make it, but so did she. I have a really bad habit of diving into more than one book at a time but I just get so excited! The Autumn Equinox is almost here. I can feel the cool temperatures rolling in and the crispness in the air. My garden is retreating for the year with maybe one or two small harvests left before our first frost makes it’s appearance. We are descending into the darker half of the year retreating inward. As we inevitably make this transition each year, I like to spend this time in gratitude. . ‘Tis the season for Apples! 🍎 Apple picking is one of my favorite Autumn activities. There is something so comforting and nostalgic about frolicking the orchards in the crisp air while snacking on a warm apple cider donut. Known as a food of the dead, apples have been recognized as a correspondence of not only the Autumn season, but of the sabbat we know as Samhain, also known as the Feast of Apples or the Witch’s New Year. It is believed on this day the Spirits roam the Earth with us. One tradition on this day was to bury an apple to help guide and nourish the roaming Spirits as they wander.
