Happy 35th Birthday Disneyās Hollywood Studiosā¦the park where I grew up learning to draw our favorite characters and got to hang out with Bear in the Big Blue House, to knowing an entire restaurant menu by heart and having specific shows that ārequireā a Mickey bar while you watch them. The park that I watched its name change OVERNIGHT! This is the park where I could honestly just sit on a bench with a Mickey Bar in one hand and a cherry coke in the other listening to the music and be perfectly content. Disneyās Hollywood Studios takes us to the Hollywood that never was. We get to play in Andyās backyard with Woody and the gang, travel to a Galaxy far far away, and most importantly back in time to Momās kitchen in the 1950s. I intended to post much earlier, but I got caught up sifting through a mountain of Hollywood Studios photos to find the perfect one. Plus, thereās so much I want to say and so little space to say it! Nevertheless, here I amāfinally making the post! š I decided to share one of my top photosāeasily in my top 100 orrrrr 1,000 š¤£ (iykyk)āfrom my first #DisneyCollegeProgram. Initially cast in the #GreatMovieRide (RIP), health issues led to my reassignment. Starting with stroller duty, I was soon on my way to becoming an #IndianaJonesEpicStuntSpectacular CM! After officially earning my ears, I was welcomed with open arms into the greatest work family Iāve ever been a part of š„¹š I was already a huge @indianajones fan, but my love and appreciation for the film deepened significantly. My affection also grew for #HollywoodStudios because, without this magical park, I wouldnāt be where I am today. During the late 1980s when Michael Eisner was still new at Disney and looking for ways to expand the company. A few years before The Living Seas had opened at EPCOT Center to compete with Sea World and now Universal was opening a new park. Michael Eisner liked the proposed Great Movie Ride for the show business pavilion for EPCOT Centerās Future World West so much that he decided to build an entirely new park around it, Disneyās MGM Studios. In the original plans, when the ride was going to be at Epcot, it was going to have the name āGreat Moments at the Moviesā. The Great Movie ride actually used a ride system very similar to the Universe of Energy attraction at EPCOT Center. The ride was a specular 22 minute ride through the movies including: Footlight Parade, Singinā in the Rain, Mary Poppins, The Public Enemy, Clint Eastwood and John Wayne westerns, Alien, Indiana Jones, horror films, Tarzan, Casablanca, Fantasia, and The Wizard of Oz. Unfortunately, The Great Movie Ride closed on August 13, 2017 and in 2020 was replaced by the uncreative Mickey and Minnieās Runaway Railway. Ā°ā¢Ā° Here are some fun facts about The Great Movie Ride: ā¢In the Indiana Jones scene, there was a wall of hieroglyphics; on that wall were pictures of Donald and Mickey and well as C3PO and R2D2. ā¢The Fantasia scene almost wasnāt in the ride. It was originally intended to be the tornado scene from The Wizard of Oz, hence the blowing wind however, due to a contractual agreement with MGM, Disney could only use two scenes from the movie instead of three. ā¢If you had a B show (the gangster scene, the carās license plate was 021-429, a reference to the St. Valentineās Day Massacre on February 14, 1929. ā¢A well-known fact is that the plane in the Casablanca scene was cut in half; the back part of the plane is still visible today at Magic Kingdom on The Jungle Cruise. The Great Movie Ride replicated Busby Berkleyās āFootlight Paradeā. The scene featured water and bubble effects and each tier rotated in opposite directions. Disney quickly killed the effects and put up a scrim. Look closely and you see the dancing fountains. Do you remember?

Iām going to miss jacket season in Orlando! If youāre planning a trip to Disney World January and February can be a bit challenging to plan for. Itās usually cold so I encourage layers because even 60 degrees in Orlando on a sunny day can be really toasty! Also is anyone else missing Great Movie Ride?
