Happy 35th Birthday Disney’s Hollywood Studios…the park where I grew up learning to draw our favorite characters and got to hang out with Bear in the Big Blue House, to knowing an entire restaurant menu by heart and having specific shows that “require” a Mickey bar while you watch them. The park that I watched its name change OVERNIGHT! This is the park where I could honestly just sit on a bench with a Mickey Bar in one hand and a cherry coke in the other listening to the music and be perfectly content. Disney’s Hollywood Studios takes us to the Hollywood that never was. We get to play in Andy’s backyard with Woody and the gang, travel to a Galaxy far far away, and most importantly back in time to Mom’s kitchen in the 1950s. Every park is my favorite for different reasons. Studios? It’s home. STORY TIME! Today is my favorite park’s 35th birthday, Hollywood Studios (ahem - MGM) 🤩🎬🌴🎂 In the early 90’s, this was an actual production studio and I auditioned for a 💕 Barbie 💕commercial on the backlot. I can remember driving by the Earful Tower, walking into a dark casting trailer, and practicing my lines with my mom. I didn’t get the job that day, but we did hop on a backlot tour tram and sneak into the park for a bit 🤫

From Backlot Tours, Epic Stunt Spectaculars, Fully-Loaded Love Bugs, and Lights, Motors, Action, to Haunted Elevators, Rockin’ Rollercoasters, Andy’s Backyard, and a Galaxy Far, Far Away… This park has been home to Great Movie Rides, the Muppets, Indiana Jones, and StarWars. Happy 35th to Hollywood Studios!! I still end up saying MGM when I talk about this park. I haven't been around for all 35 years, but pretty close. I still remember The Great Movie Ride, Studio Backlot Tour, Honey I Shrunk the Kids movie set adventure, ABC Sound Studio: Sounds Dangerous, The Magic of Disney Animation, Bear in the Big Blue House: Live on Stage, The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A Musical Adventure and The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. I could go on, but yeah. I remember when I was watching Bear in the Big Blue House: Live on Stage and they asked for volunteers and no one raised their hand. I felt bad, so I raised my hand (which was big for me because I was shy) and I remember after I did that they had more volunteers and I had the best time dancing with Bear on stage. MGM used to be my favorite park growing up. My favorite Disney ride was The Great Movie Ride!! Loved the ending movie montage. No matter how many times I watch that montage I would still get goosebumps right when the Gone with the Wind music went on. I am a movie buff because of it. Fantasmic is still my favorite Disney show. Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular is a close 2nd. The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A Musical Adventure blew me away as a child. I never wanted to miss it every time we visited the park. One other attraction I truly miss is The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. Twas glorious. I still do enjoy the park now, but I miss what it was. Happy 35th #birthday to #hollywoodstudios! It was still #disneysmgmstudios when I first visited Disney. I remember I would not ride TOT, I was too afraid! Now that I'm older, I wish I would have rode it that day. It's now on my favorite list. I am an old soul at heart, so I fell in love with the mock kitchen at #50sprimetimecafe . I enjoy their food as well. I don't choose to go here a lot because we can eat this food at home if we choose, but it is beautiful inside. The #wookiecookie was delicious 😋. I haven't had it since they changed it, but 2 of us couldn't even finish it! Sissy is one of my favorite actresses. I first saw her in #thecoalminersdaughter and was just in awe of how much she looked,talked,and sang like Loretta in that movie. Happy 35th birthday to Disney's Hollywood (MGM) Studios. This park is truly a tale of two halves and has suffered from an identity crisis for a while. The front half evokes classic Hollywood and I absolutely love the theming and music here. It's also home to four fantastic shows. The back of the park is where things fall apart though. I don't get excited by Toy Story Land which feels overly crowded and hot with little to do. Galaxy's Edge suffers from a lack of energy with its main purpose seemingly being a shopping mall, but I'll admit I have no interest in Star Wars so the land is definitely not aimed at me. I don't want to harp too much on the past since I've done that before, but I will say I feel the park deserves a lot more than it has gotten. I will forever miss the Great Movie Ride which, I feel, was one of Disney's best attractions. I digress though. The past is in the past and I can't change it so here are a few old photos. Not only do I love shopping for new Disney-themed goodies, I also love to share pictures of Disney food. I didn't take many pics during our trip last week but I'll share what I did get pics of. This is the Mint-Chocolate Chip Cheesecake from ABC Commissary I got for $5.79. 💫THROW BACK THURSDAY💫 It's Thursday that means it's time for a throw back. I'm going to take you right back to 1994. This is the first time I went to Florida. My gramps, Nan, Mum, Step-dad, myself and my little sister all went for 3 weeks. Everything was so much different back then. There were characters out and about that are classed as rare now. Fievel had his own playland in Universal Studios, Disney's Hollywood Studios was called Disney's MGM studios. At MGM studios there was a whole parade dedicated to Aladdin. Disney' original waterpark River Country was open. It was themed as a old watering hole. ( In the photos that is a teeny me at the top of those drop slides in my green life jacket) Yes I did go down them. This Trip Started my absolute Love of Disney, Universal, Orcas and everything Florida.
