‘Navy Seals’ (1990) I had so much fun watching this movie at the theatre when originally released. Didn’t take much note of Sylvester Levay #sylvesterlevay @levaysylvester score at the time until I purchased the soundtrack (with songs only) & later on CD by @intradacds when the offical score was released. Pictured here is the current re-release of Levay’s score by @lalalandrecords @mgmstudios_production_ltd in limited edition of only 1,000 pressing. “The Idea of You”: un’idea promettente, ma deludente 🎞 Ciao! Oggi vi parlo di “The Idea of You”, il film diretto da Michael Showalter e interpretato da Anne Hathaway e Nicholas Galitzine. La trama segue Solène, una madre single quarantenne che si innamora di Hayes Campbell, ventiquattrenne cantante di una boy band. Il racconto è tratto dal romanzo originale di Robinne Lee e mi aspettavo di più da questa trasposizione cinematografica. All’inizio, il film sembra promettente. L’intera premessa della storia offre spunti interessanti sulle dinamiche di età e potenziali sfide sociali. Tuttavia, a metà strada, il lungometraggio perde il suo slancio. Non voglio rivelare troppo, ma la mancanza di coerenza nei personaggi mi ha proprio delusa. C’è un’enorme discrepanza tra ciò che i personaggi proclamano, soprattutto riguardo al femminismo, e ciò che effettivamente fanno. Questo è particolarmente evidente nella relazione tra Solène e Hayes. In un’epoca in cui le donne lottano per la parità e il rispetto, il film sembra dare un passo indietro anziché avanzare. Sarebbe stato un momento perfetto per esplorare le complessità delle relazioni intergenerazionali e il ruolo del femminismo nella società contemporanea. Invece, “The Idea of You” sembra fuori luogo nel contesto attuale. Avrebbe potuto essere una commedia romantica divertente, ma si perde nell’opportunità di essere qualcosa di più significativo. Quindi, se siete alla ricerca di una leggera commedia romantica (la trovate su Prime Video), potreste trovare qualche momento di svago in “The Idea of You”. Ma se cercate un film che affronti in modo significativo le questioni di genere e le dinamiche di potere, potreste rimanere delusi. Se lo avete visto, vorrei davvero leggere cosa ne pensate. Lil’ bro and I. Back before Disney owned EVERYTHING, they would license popular characters for the parks to bring people in. TMNT was one of them. MOVIE REVIEW: 7.2/10 “THIS IS ONE ROMCOM YOU HATHAWATCH!” Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine have each already proven they are romcom royalty, The Idea of You pairs them up resulting in electric chemistry between the two leads. Anne plays Solène, (eye roll) a divorced gallery owner (I know) who ends up taking her daughter and friends to Coachella after her ex-husband gets called into work. Daniel had arranged for a meet and greet with August Moon, who was Izzy’s favorite band in seventh grade, despite her being in high school now, which predictably ends in a meet-cute between mother and lead singer. Solène quickly gets wrapped up in the charm and allure of their private relationship, but you can only hide that you’re dating the world’s most famous pop star for so long. Along with the fandom comes her own personal consequences. While being extremely cliche and impossible not to replace these two with Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde, we enjoyed it. This was the movie equivalent of a beach read, and bonus, it gives us a handful of catchy songs I can’t get out of my head.
