When potential clients approach me, it is difficult to explain the depth of detail that my research involves. Upon receipt of their presentation, clients are overwhelmed by the diligent and exhaustive story of their ancestry. This is why most of my clients embark upon a second project. Last year, Renae and her siblings commissioned me to research the ancestors of their 95-year-old grandfather, as a gift for Christmas. Delightfully impressed, it was felt that their grandmother should not miss out on the journey of her ancestors. The arms of one of my 5xGreat-Grandmothers, Frances Mary Adams (1733-1816), who was born in Camblesforth Hall near Selby , Yorkshire, in 1733 and inherited it on the death of her eldest brother, John Boynton Adams. She was the daughter of Christopher Adams and Hannah Gifford. She married local magistrate Jocelyn Price in 1765 and their daughter, Clara, was born in 1769. Clara was one of my 4xGreat-Grandmothers, marrying Sir Charles Blois in 1789. When the Hall was being renovated a few years ago, the name ‘Francis Mary Adams’ was found scratched onto a bedroom window, probably with a diamond ring. Fascinating tour of the College of Arms on Friday evening thanks to the @thelansdowneclubmayfair. The college was founded by Richard III in the 1480s and is responsible for heraldry in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and many Commonwealth countries. Our tour guide was the Clarenceux King of Arms - Timothy Duke - whose passion for the college and its work granting coats of arms, undertaking genealogical research, and planning ceremonial state occasions was wonderful. We got to see some incredibly old and fascinating documents from its library, a library where almost every single letter has been handwritten! Day 27 of #30daysofgenealogy Brick wall Success.... **trigger warning** Last year my friend asked me for a favour, the family never knew anything about her great grandfather, they didn't even know his name. It was a really difficult find for me as I did infact find his name, managed to find his family and get information on him through the newspapers. Unfortunately, I found that in 1941 he died at his own hand in the outhouse of his own backgarden with his wife looking out of the bedroom window. He had been suffering from some form of mental illness for a few years previous and their daughter had been sent to live with grandparents whilst they got him help to get better. It was clear to see from the letter he left that he loved his wife and daughter very much and they had a great marriage but he just couldn't face his demons any longer 😪 It was very hard relaying this information to my friend but she was very greatful that they now know the truth. #ancestry #ancestryuk #findmypastuk #findmypast #genealogyuk #genealogy #familystories #familyhistory #fmp

Found this for Henry Legg (7th GGF) who help out a young lad and his family who were very poor and he hired the son as an apprentice!! That’s my ancestor! Absolutely incredible this document gave me goosebumps! Especially knowing that this was written up at the time of the reign of George II - I mean that’s just amazing!! Henry Legg was born In 1725 and this document was taken on July 2nd, 1761! På rötters hemsida la man häromdagen ut tips på vad man kan använda Isof (institutet för språk och folkminnen) till och vad man kan hitta där… ⬇️ Jag skulle också vilja slå ett litet extra slag för ”dialektkartan” som jag tycker är supermysig och jätteintressant där man kan lyssna på personer som är inspelade mellan 1930-1970 och de äldsta som är intervjuade och inspelade är faktiskt födda på 1850 talet! 😮 🤓 ⬇️ Och min personliga favorit, ”matkartan”, här hittar man recept och berättelser som rör traditionell matkultur i Sverige från många olika platser i landet.
