Will he ever know happiness or peace? (Probably not 😭🤚) • Anyways, here he is, another custom that I finished back in January. I started working on him back in August alongside with Stellan, but only managed to finish about half of his sculpt at the time. And I finally time to finish him in December. • Despite being a major character, he still has no official concept art. (Seriously, why is that?) Luckily he does make a few appearances in the kids books and on some book covers. That’s where the majority of the inspiration came from. His pose was partly inspired by Anakin for *reasons* but mostly I came up with it because it just gave Elzar vibes. 😂 I would say the hardest part of this custom was his lightsaber hilt because it was based off of three comic panels. 🫠 • Once again, I’m glad I finally have him in my collection with the rest of the trio. Can’t wait to see where his story goes in Temptation of the Force. 🥳 Happy 22nd birthday to Attack Of The Clones! 🥳 Look, I know it’s #thrthursday but I wanted to show some a little more love for the prequels today. Plus I just got these awesome AOTC comics in and wanted to show them off a bit. I love this movie(and book), across the stars and back. ✨ “THE SHROUD OF THE DARK SIDE HAS FALLEN. BEGUN, THE CLONE WAR HAS.” ⚙️ I was roughly 8 or 9 when this movie came out. I was so stoked to see the introduction of Clones on Kamino and into the Battle arena on Geonosis, Jango Fett, the fearsome bounty hunter in action and of course the duel against Dooku. I had no idea Yoda could move so fast! 💨 Even as a kid the music always enthralled me. Hear ‘Across The Stars’ for the first time and how it brought Anakin and Padmé’s love to life was something out of this galaxy. 💖 Many years later(& after many rewatches later) I finally picked up the book. It started off way different than the movie and I was definitely caught guard by this. The first few chapters actually were from the POV of Shmi Skywalker while on Tatooine & Padmé on Naboo. We get a glimpse of Shmi living a happy life with the Lars family on Tatooine and then another glimpse of Padmé on Naboo talking with her sister, Sola, about having children after her service to the Republic is fulfilled. From there we’re led into the official introduction that we all know: the four starships entering Coruscant’s atmosphere. 🪐 The world building is tremendous. The sounds were incredible. The Clones were awesome. Just finished ✨ Tales of Light and Life ✨ and am so ready to jump into Phase 3 of The High Republic! I also want to give a quick shout-out to @charlesdsoule. Back in early 2021, while we were all very much still in the middle of the pandemic and before everything had started opening back up, he put up an offer on his website to receive an autographed book plate to accompany the start of The High Republic series for only a few bucks. I had the pleasure of getting to talk to him about this back in February at @megaconorlando. He said he did it because he had missed getting to go to cons and other events where he could actually interact with us, the fans. He figured that this was a decent way to bridge that gap and still do something for his fans. The best part is that he didn't just sign his name and move on. He also wrote quotes from THR and doodled little lightsabers, which really made each one unique (and showed off some serious artistic skills 😂). I keep this book plate in every High Republic book or comic book that I read as my bookmark. I know I should probably have it framed or displayed on a shelf, but it just makes me too happy every time I open whatever book that I'm currently on. It reminds me of a time where we all needed some light in our lives, and then came "Light of the Jedi" . 💫"This is Jedi Master Avar Kriss. I love the Hero of Hetzal, Avar Kriss, so when my local comic shop had a sale on back issues, The High Republic 13 from the Phase 1 run with her on the cover was the first thing I grabbed. I didn't read the original run until the trades were out, so that's the only HR series besides HRA from IDW I don't have in comic book form, but I'll get them all eventually. I'm very excited to see what she's up to next month when Temptation of the Force comes out. Vieles geht hier leichtherziger und humorvoller zu, was gut zusammenpasst mit den zahlreichen Verbindungen zu Olders Comicreihe „High Republic Adventures“. Aufmerksame Leser der vorherigen Werke werden definitiv belohnt. Auch an schwerwiegendere Themen wie Liebe oder Vertrauen unter Freunden trauen sich die Autoren hier heran. Die neuen Figuren sind eingängig und liebenswert, allen voran Pirat Zyle Keem mit xieser locker-lässigen Art. Die Verbindung zwischen „Nihil-Überläuferin“ Driggit und den drei Jünglingen regt zum Nachdenken an, während der sonst eher schüchterne Ram mit den Jedi-Kindern stark gefordert wird. Das lässt allen Charakteren guten Raum zur Entwicklung. Fazit: Ein einfach zu lesendes Buch mit Herz und Humor - ein guter Einstieg in die Dritte Phase. Are you planning to read any Star Wars books to celebrate?? ✨ *Spoiler Free Review: This is the first adult book for the phase 2 The High Republic books in the Star Wars Universe. I absolutely loved this book! It was so intriguing and kept my interest the entire time. I did have a difficult time in the beginning trying to keep track of who everyone was, but they were all brand new characters and the confusion was quickly remedied by how well each character's personality was written. This story had a ton of mystery, political drama, and a lot of interesting characters that I was anxious to learn more about. I really loved the group of young adults that this story followed! Their moments together made reading this book so easy! But, just like in "Path of Deceit", I fell completely in love with a character just to have my heart ripped to shreds by them 😭 What is Star Wars if not tragic??! I'm really enjoying my chronological read! I accidentally skipped the middle grade novel that is between "Path of Deceit" and "Convergence", but I did listen to it after reading this book and thought it was a good/necessary piece to the story! Realized I haven’t been posting about my High Republic Phase II journey but I’m over halfway done! I finished QUEST FOR THE HIDDEN CITY by @georgemannauthor a while ago and really enjoyed it! The parent/child-Master/Padawan relationships with Spence/Dass and Silandra/Rooper were my favorite parts. The universal feeling of wanting to impress and never let your parent down was played out it really well throughout the story and a perfect theme for a KidLit story. I didn’t realize how big of a part Pathfinders were going to play going into Phase II but I find it super interesting learning about their methods and what is being explored over 350 years prior to The Phantom Menace. #starwars #thehighrepublic #thrthursday #thr

Darth Maul: Black White and Red #1 is out now just in time for the upcoming re-release of TPM, as well as Jango Fett #2 and THR Adventures #5. I also found this old Shadows of the Empire Dark Horse/Kenner issue, so I'm wondering if that originally came with the Darth Vader and Xizor action figure 2 pack in 1996. Continuing on my High Republic journey this #thrthursday 📍 What’s the longest series you’ve ever read?? What a great improvement from Light of the Jedi. The Rising Storm has me locked in now. The depth of characters was much better in this and I felt like I actually got to know our characters more, enough to be attached to them. Stellan is a great addition to this book in getting to learn more about him, he is a favorite for sure. Elzar stocks are also rising for me. I love the direction his character is going, I love a Jedi not really being the best Jedi rule follower...I can’t wait to get more about all that. An alternative title for this could be “Let’s Torture Bell Zettifar” because wow, this book really put him (and me) through the wringer. Hello?? That ending?? Stellan Gios needed to have his world crash in order to grow as a Jedi. 3. Lourna Dee does nothing for me. 4. Marchion Ro is a great villain. 5. Elzar Mann is not worthy of Avar Kriss. Path of Deceit by Tessa Grafton and Justina Ireland // ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ *Spoiler Free* This book gets ALL THE STARS! I freaking loved it! This book kicked off my journey back into The High Republic era of Star Wars. I read the first two of Phase 1 over a year ago, but hadn't touched another since 🫣 So I decided to start reading them in chronological order! This book was the perfect introduction to Phase 2 and for getting back into THR. Marda is now one of my favorite book characters (even though my heart is left in pieces by her after falling in love with her) and I cannot wait to continue following her journey through other books! Also, that ending??! I was just left speechless with the events of the last few chapters 😳 I'm scared but so interested to learn more about what happened. Happy #THRThursday ☺️
✨The Battle of Jedha by George Mann✨ If you’ve never listened to a Star Wars audio drama, you need to! With a full cast, music, and sound effects, it's like listening to a Star Wars movie! We were first introduced to Jedha in Rogue One, just before its destruction at the hands of the Empire. In the Battle of Jedha, we see Jedha at its height. It's a holy planet, home to many Force religions and many people make the pilgrimage there. The newly formed Convocation of the Force is holding the Festival of Balance to try to encourage understanding between the Force religions. Jedi Creighton Sun and Aida Forte have arrived on Jedha to oversee the signing of the peace treaty between the warring planets Eiram and E’ronoh. The treaty signing is sabotaged and war breaks out over Jedha. On top of the war between Eiram and E’ronoh, the Path of the Open Hand has riled up the people of Jedha to riot in the streets. They also released the Great Leveler into the crowd to go after Force users. This creature is deadly to Force users and will play a huge role in the High Republic. Jedi Silandra Sho, who was on a pilgrimage to Jedha, focuses on getting the people of Jedha to safety as the battle rages on. The Jedi and their allies must find a way to bring an end to the violence before all of Jedha is destroyed. I loved this audio drama. With all the political drama surrounding Eiram and E’ronoh and scheming from the Path of the Open Hand, this story keeps you on your toes. There are so many great characters in this story. I think Silandra Sho is my favorite. With her shield, she is basically the Captain America of Star Wars. And if you like sarcastic droids, you’ll love P3-7A. He speaks only in religious phrases which makes him sound like a fortune cookie. Der Inhalt: Wie der Titel erahnen lässt, finden sich alle bis dato von dem kreativen Team hinter der „Hohen Republik“ ins Spiel gebrachte Figuren in diesem Buch. Egal ob sie nun Protagonisten oder kleinere Randerscheinungen sind, in diesem Lexikon erfährt man alles Wichtige über sie. Dazu liefert das Buch ein paar Kurzfakten, Bilder (insofern verfügbar für die jeweilige Figur) und Zitate. Aber Achtung! Es werden auch Werke behandelt, die bisher noch nicht auf Deutsch erschienen sind 🤫 Meine Meinung: Ich hatte sehr viel Spaß mit dem vorliegenden Lexikon, da hier wirklich alles geliefert wird. Convergence by Zoraida Córdova is the third book of phase 2 wave 1. It was released November 22, 2022. Twin planets Eiram and E’ronoch have been locked in a Forever War. Now with the longest ceasefire they've had, some are finding hope while others want to see the ceasefire fail. Princess and Captain XIRI A'LBARAN of E’ronoch awaits a shipment for her planet in the neutral zone, while Prince PHAN-TU ZENN of Eiram does humanitarian work among his people. Jedi Knight GELLA NATTAI is on her way to Eiram along with a team of Jedi to deliver medical supplies. Meanwhile, CHANCELLOR MOLLO is going to the Eiram-E’ronoch system to broker a lasting peace, and AXEL GREYLARK is on Coruscant gambling, unaware that his mother, Chancellor Kyong Greylark, has a mission for him. In the shadows, THE MOTHER and the Path of the Open Hand are working to further their own agenda. Peace is shattered when one of Xiri’s fighters loses control of his ship. This results in Xiri crash landing on Eiram. Phan-tu saves her, and eventually, Xiri proposes that she and Phan-tu marry to stop the Forever War. Even though neither Phan-tu’s mothers nor Xiri's father are pleased about this, everyone agrees. Meanwhile, Gella and the Jedi uncover evidence of sabotage on Xiri’s fighter’s ship. Gella is tasked with discovering who is behind it and eventually with guarding the royal couple. Chancellor Greylark sends her son, Axel, to represent her and assist Gella with her investigation and work with Xiri and Phan-tu. At first, tensions run high since Gella doesn't work well on a team and Axel is distrustful of Jedi, but they all eventually learn to work together. A lot happens after that, but you'll have to read it to find out exactly what. I promise it is well worth it! Happy #thrthursday !! Spring is here. Easter just around the corner and all of that suggests a time of growth. For the High Republic, I love how the younger characters are introduced in the children’s books. As they get older, their stories transition over to Young Adult. Of course, over time, they’ll make their way over to the adult fiction novels provided, of course, that they survive. Eek!! Shown here, one of Vernestrah Rwoh’s first appearances in Phase 1 as a children’s book. As her career progresses, we can then follow her exploits in the Young Adult novels. You can see how Vern and Avon Starros have grown between the two stories. They’re growing up!! 🟢🟡Escape from Valo🔵🟣 Book Review - Star Wars: The High Republic: Escape from Valo by Daniel José Older and Alyssa Wong Rating: 7.5/10 Hello and happy #thrthursday to you! Today I’m going to be reviewing Escape from Valo, the first middle grade novel of Phase 3 by Daniel José Older and Alyssa Wong. My favorite things about this book is that from the very beginning and until the very end, it’s packed with intense action and even a hint of mystery, so there’s constantly something going on! I also really loved the new characters we got to meet in this book, learning about their stories and struggles as both teenagers and Jedi living in Nihil space with no one else to depend on. I also loved how each character developed through this novel and came more into themselves and their confidence, which makes them promising young Jedi. Returning to Valo was also exciting, even though it’s now Nihil controlled… Of the issues I have with this book, my biggest one is that often times the end goal of the plot is unclear and becomes convoluted with the constant obstacles that get in the way of the protagonists. This may be because almost each individual characters had different priorities for themselves, but I wouldn’t say that the plot is focused on what the title suggests. There’s also other things that happen that just seem random or convenient to move the plot along; the characters saving Master Kunpar from the Nihil and them him being absent from the story until the very end just didn’t make sense to me. Aside from my small quips with this story, I really loved how the characters were written and I look forward to (hopefully) getting to see their relationship as a group evolve as tensions with the Nihil continue to rise. I also really hope we get to see Valo be liberated by the Republic! Ronto Wrap-Up #1 - Star Wars: Path of Deceit By @justina.ireland and @tessa.gratton Release date: October 4th, 2022 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 Last year I wrote my thoughts on books, comics, and shows on my iPad in short entries, accompanied with small sketches, just to reflect on the media I was consuming a little more. I decided to take some of these writings and edit and expand on them slightly, to post as “wrap-ups” on the great content I’ve read and watched this past year. I’ll release a new one every so often, and I might eventually post the corresponding drawings somewhere too (though I am by no means an artist). So, here’s my first “Ronto Wrap-Up,” covering Path of Deceit, for this #thrthursday and to look back on Justina Ireland and Tessa Gratton’s first YA book together while I continue to read Defy the Storm. This was written shortly after finishing the novel and before reading the rest of Phase II. – Spoilers for Path of Deceit – This is hands down the best Star Wars book I have ever read. Kevmo is lovable, kind, and represents everything that a Jedi Padawan should be. He seemingly did everything right in the ways of the Order, and yet, he's dead. Mercilessly slaughtered by the Leveler in its earliest chronological appearance in a slow burn death that steadily turned all hope I still held to ash. As Phase I showed hope prevailing in dauntless times, Phase II begins by extinguishing it. No book has ever left me so defeated from the death of a character. Marda is also an extremely compelling character. Her devoted fanaticism to her beliefs is honestly frightening, and it brings forward what I believe one of the messages this phase of The High Republic will be. It beckons for peace among groups whose ideas differ, rather than constant turmoil. The Path of the Open Hand is certainly against this idea though. They are mysterious, intriguing, and their history is as intriguing as the Mother who leads them. I’m currently listening to The Tempest Runner audiobook. I found it a bit difficult to follow at first, but once I got into the flow of the story, I found it quite interesting. Hearing about Lourna Dee’s origins on Aaloth, her struggles with the Zygerrian slave traders ( I loathe the Zygerrians!), and her eventual joining of the Nihil have been incredible. The story has shown another side of Lourna Dee that wasn’t explored as much in the other Phase I novels. She hasn’t always been a Tempest Runner, but so much more before that. She’s definitely a complex character that I’ve enjoyed reading more about.
