Back in November, PWC performed Birds of Paradise at MOCA and we had the wonderful opportunity to explore a new sound score with Diego Melgar and Dani F. Amaro. It was so satisfying and so fluid. This summer I was introduced to #sonicmeditations by #paulineoliveros. If you are not familiar with them, they are chorale instructions for #solo and #collaborative #soundartworks. #instructionsasart was at the heart of #conceptualartist #sollewitt work, which I have loved for years, and guides these works by Pauline as well. Iโve been diving into this in a number of different ways in the past couple of years. Certainly there is the role of #instructionaldesign in teaching. I also found myself composing carefully when crafting the instructions for my forthcoming book about #collage with @storeypub Now, Iโm weaving it into my work in another way. My contribution to last month's the #hoosacriver #artonthetrail was a #soundcollaboration with @rocio_cisne We created a #guidedmeditation through the River Bank. This work invites you to lock your phone, and listen to audio instructions that will direct you to engage with the river. This sensory immersion with the land invites you to consider your relation to the Earth as you move through the landscape. While site-specific, this guide can be applied to other rivers and water landscapes. We ask you to notice and observe your presence in this landscape, and to bring your awareness to the Earth that supports you, her many sentient beings, both ancestral and in the moment.
