Always a firm Festival favourite, this annual event brings more than 100 young musicians from across Elgar Country to perform a varied programme alongside their teachers and mentors from the ESO, following 2 days of rehearsals and workshops. У оквиру нашег тематског циклуса „Домаћи композитори“ синоћ је у Дому Војске Србије одржан концерт „Нови класицизам – музика Милоша Раичковића“, са реномираним солистима Уном Станић и Владимиром Милошевићем. За „нови класицизам“ истакнути композитор и диригент Милош Раичковић каже да је проистекао из његовог целокупног животног и музичког искуства, као спој музичког Минимализма са стиловима Бечке класике и Ране романтике. У тој музици форма је класична, али је тоналитет редукован на само неколико тонова из скале, што тоналној музици даје један нови квалитет и енергију. Критичар Лос Анђелес Тајмса Марк Свед описује Раичковићев Нови класицизам следећим речима: “...ни ироничан ни наиван, већ, напротив, јединствен постмодерни одговор и на минимализам, и на мултикултурализам. Свакако је могуће чути Шубета, Хајдна и Росинија у Раичковићевом ‘Новом класицизму’, али испод Шуберта, Хајдна и Росинија лежи источноeвропска музика, минимализам, Месијан, и још дубље, музика Азије и Пацифика. Све то је део изузетних Раичковићевих музичких корена, и све то функционише на један скривен начин, као на прозорима компјутерског екрана.” Од четири композиције које су се нашле синоћ на репертоару три су изведене по први пут у Београду. Занимљиво је да су у Срећној увертири коришћене скале од пет тонова, у Три Романсе скале од шест тонова, док су у Симфонији појединачни ставови базирани на скалама са различитим бројем тонова (5, 3, 4, 6). Концерт за клавир је написан у једном ставу, а посвећен је пијанисткињи Сари Вујадиновић. Први и трећи део написани су у једној, а средњи (спори) део у другој пентатонској скали. LEAN-IN 🎹 Here’s the thing. Over the years, I’ve come to realise that watching someone play the piano can be a pretty strange thing to experience. Whilst singer-songwriters and other musical artists usually face their audience - looking into their eyes, sharing the moment, seeing each others’ delight and enjoyment of the experience - us pianists (yes, like the introverts and introspectives we often are) often tend to face away (or at least to the side), gifting our audience a view of our backs. How kind of us. What I’ve been doing for a long time now, is to gradually try and get over myself, my deep-held fears and insecurities over whether I’m good enough/flashy enough/notey-enough/engaging enough/classical enough; to turn around and embrace the most important people in the room - which is you, folks…the audience. Of course, the nature of the instrument means there will always be challenges in how to arrange the space we share. I know. Enough *can* be a dangerous word when used in the wrong way. I’ll never be “enough” if I apply it to the wrong things in all the wrong ways. But, when we allow ourselves to see it from a different, more positive perspective - not trying to convince or prove, but to embrace and engage - I know I am enough, we are enough, and in that moment, it is enough. Nothing else is needed. It’s not about just “hearing” the music, but listening to it, deeply. Not just music idly playing passively in the background, or even taking us to some other-world-like state where the danger is we disengage from our surroundings, but creating the opportunity for genuine connection through music, via meaningful, engaged participation and interactions between like-minded people and communities, whoever and wherever they are…not just in the big cities/urban areas. It’s an invitation to LEAN-IN. I’ll turn to meet you - with all my fears, imperfections and lack of answers - and I’ll come to where you are: your town, village, arts centre, community theatre, church or grassroots music venue, to collectively enjoy these good moments together, share stories, and connect around and through live music. Come and be part of it. You’re invited 🤍
