It was the 5th (and last) time the Queen had visited Regina, following visits in 1959, 1973, 1978, and 1987 – in fact, she visited Regina more times than any other Canadian city, other than Ottawa, as Queen. During the visit, she unveiled a statue of Burmese, who was a Saskatchewan-bred horse she had ridden for 18 years after being gifted to her by the RCMP. She also rededicated the gardens in front of the Legislative Building as the “Queen Elizabeth II Gardens”, and unveiled the Saskatchewan Centennial Mural “Northern Tradition & Transition” inside the Legislative Building. The Queen and the Prince also honoured Indigenous veterans at the First Nations University of Canada and attended a memorial for slain officers during a visit to the RCMP Depot. One of the most significant changes we made to the branding for the 8th edition of Art Now, though slight, was impactful. 💪 We shifted from the white backgrounds the event had used every year prior, to using a variety of colours from the expanded Art Now palette. Background colours changed depending on the piece of media.
