Race recap! @runlikeagirl_ca Rolley Coaster event was absolutely amazing! I didn’t do as much as originally intended, like my post the other day said I wasn’t feeling 100% and was going into this listening to my body. The rain started early but the trails were still absolutely gorgeous(even if there was a tad bit of mud 🤪) I chose to hike since running wasn’t really working for me. The uphill is what did me in. My lungs just didn’t want any part of it and I was having a really hard time. At least the reward after climbing was that beautiful waterfall 😍 Do I regret doing this? Absolutely not. I’m beyond stoked I was able to muster up the energy to complete 1 loop. Congrats to all that completed this event. My #flatrunner for tomorrow’s @runlikeagirl_ca Rolley Coaster event. Am I in top form? Oh no… I’ve been battling sickness since a bit before last weekend and it just got way worse after running in the rain and bitter cold. Everything is now in my chest and coughing has been my calorie burning activity for the past few days 🤣 This event is a 7.5K loop that you complete as many times as you want/can within 8 hours. 1 loop or 5, it’s your choice! Initially I was aiming do 3-4 loops, but with how my body is right now I’ll be happy with completing at least 1! Plus it’s also supposed to rain again, so I wanna be smart. This race isn’t the be all end all, it’s truly the experience that I’m here for. Being somewhere new, supporting an organization that I’m proud to be an ambassador for and just enjoy the moment. What a glorious day for a hike!! Today I ventured to Temagami and the Caribou Mountain Hiking Trails at the Fire Tower. I followed the White Bear Trail to the Old Fire Rangers Trail, to Jack Guppy Way, to Caribou Trail, to Red Fox Trail, to the Beaver Pond, to the Fire Tower Climb. My All Trails subscription served me well as the first half of Caribou isn’t well marked and I had to use the navigation feature. Bonus: I found an awesome geocache at the Beaver Pond! Today's early morning I definitely took it easy because my recent treatments and conditions may have gotten worse but I'm still showing up. During this run, I had a moment to think and give thanks to my body for giving me the privilege to move while dealing with these challenges and to be in my safe place. Lately, the negative voices have been whispering in my ear, but running saved me when I started this journey and still does. It is something I can always count on to soothe me. It has helped me stay moving, and it defines my identity with every shred of courage, grit, and determination while fighting and not giving up easily. When I cancel out everything around me, I am only focused on what my body and mind really want and crave for that. I love running because of the journey it took me on, l’ve stopped caring about how others think about my body image, how I run/walk or even how far I can run. I run to feel free from all the negativity, and I run to feel strong because being a cancer/mental health survivor taught me that. I run because of how it makes me feel! I can honestly say that I am at my best when I run. I run because it allows me to be myself. Reminder : Remember, life is a journey. Enjoy the ride, and in the end you'll see your "setbacks" as giant leaps forward, even if you can't see the bigger picture in the moment. Stay motivated and never lose the focus. Don't be ashamed while going through hard phases because we are all human. Remember why you started and how far you have come. Be proud of yourself. Be proud that you keep showing up every single day. Be proud of all the tough decisions you had to make and that even though it was hard , you stood your ground. Greatness and success take time. Every day is a grind, Be proud of your progress and enjoy it because any progress is better than no progress. Believe in yourself. Believe in your capacity do good and great things. Never let self-doubt hold you down. Believe that no mountain is so high, that you cannot climb it. Believe that no storm is so big, that you cannot weather it. Monday Motivation - Another weekend of Cheer Squad Duties. Yesterday was the Sport Life 10k race. It is one of the best races in this city and all for an important cause. There is no better way to spend my Sunday morning than be outside, cheer, and spread love on to my loved ones and my Toronto/ running community. Even though I didn't race this one for another year, being around this energy this past weekend was what I needed, especially with the hard medical battles I'm facing. My voice is still gone for a good reason as to support anyone with one smile, one cheer, and spreading that love and positive vibes make my heart full each time. My legacy through my paths is to keep being here for my running community. It was so great spending the morning with my run family @plantbasedmotherrunner, @aktiv.silver @pointeshoestorunners, @suzanabruni and the rest of my @chixrunthe6ix family. Cheering our asses off at the 9k mark to the first runners , to the last runners passing through and truly dancing the morning away made it 100x better. That joy and encouraging others with cheering can mean the world to someone who needs that extra boost towards that's why I love this sport and I love this community so much. Through the highs and lows,the running community is one of the most beautiful things I am thankful to be apart of as we find ways to keep lifting us up, community is key and everything to me. My community reminds me that we’re always stronger together as we Congratulations and super proud of everyone who ran this weekend, whether it was getting a PR, PB, running your 10k race or just doing something that makes you happy. Being able to be here to witness, celebrate and cheer with you all made me feel blessed. 🎉❤️ Even during the hardest times in my life, I will do anything in my power to be there and support anyone no matter what their goals or dreams are. Supporting the running community is the best feeling in the world and the best part of my running journey. Today I hit the road just before 8am and drove into Whitby at 1pm; I went straight to Solina to see my old boss, Cheryl, who is going to get me up to date with my taxes. Then I went to the Glazier Medical Clinic in Oshawa for my checkup, and that was two big important tasks done! After that I went to Renate’s house for a long overdue visit - I can’t believe it’s been a year since our last adventures! We’ve already hiked at Heber, had sushi, and cuddled puppies. Just coughing my way through my run 🤧 You will never be sick as often as when your tiny human starts daycare, allegedly it get better after the first year. A cold, yes a cold, has been kicking my butt for almost 2 weeks but the coughing and all the things are slowly getting better so there’s light at the end. Here’s to hoping something else doesn’t attack me as soon as I feel better 🫠
