The Februalia Bundle: Burning Away the Old + Harnessing the New Inspired by my own practice, this bundle has continued to reveal its magick all month. Imbolc happens on February 1 and traditionally is celebrated in the evening. Imbolc is one of my most favorite High Holy Days, as it symbolizes the promise of Spring! It is the time half way between the winter and spring equinox. The original word is “Imbolg” and means ‘in the belly’. The belly of the pregnant Earth. The Earth is preparing for her rebirth in the Spring. This time of year brings feelings of hope, a promise of renewal, and all things possible. There is a hidden potential stirring within the soil, within the Earth, within ourselves. Now we let go of the past, clear out the old of both our inner and outer worlds. There are lots of ways to do this. You can light a candle and walk from room to room of your home and ask Brigid the Goddess of the fire, the sun, the hearth, healing, poetry and Smithcraft to bless and clear. Brigid brings fertility to the land and its people. There are so many activities you can do to invoke this time of year. I invite you to start some seeds indoors. Can you hold it, can you carry yourself through? Can you sit with the excruciating anxiety of not knowing what is coming next? We need to make peace with the unknown. Like our wild friends in the forest, we need to go inward, to face our shadows, to reimagine our lives and the ways they’re working - to rest our weary souls and breathe - so we can move forward and birth our individual Springs. ❄️ This is the medicine of Winter. ❄️ Over and over again, Winter teaches us about endings and new beginnings. About stillness, contemplation and the sacred magic of pausing. The collective grief is palpable. While there are no spells to eradicate that, there is a magick to communal space to hold it. Grief, the natural expression to loss and trauma, is meant to be held with others. While aspects of grief are often deeply individual, when we have even just one person to hold it with us, we remove some of the isolation of grief. The Wheel of the Year supports us in navigating grief and the Underworld during fall and especially now as Samhain approaches. This sabbat reminds us, we will navigate death and the Underworld throughout our journey as a mystic time and again. And there are a multitude of experiences that will herald us into that realm. The free scheduled LIVE on Wednesday at 7pm, will collectively perform the Hallowed Grimoire Ritual, and give space for whatever grief you might be caring this Samhain. The ritual involves navigating grief, either through connection to passed loved ones or through connecting with Spirit. You don't need to have lost someone to participate and seek solace across the veil. Nor do you have to do it alone. Whether you have the candle or not, bring something to write with and any photos, items, or symbols of your collective grief. All are welcome. 🤎Ashley
