PART 1: Anyone else guilty of overthinking??? 🙋🏼♀️ Hey. It’s okay. I’m right there with ya. There are TONS of reasons we might do this and TONS of ways it can show up in our lives For me, I mostly overthink because I have come to believe if I know it all or figure it all out RIGHT NOW I can finally relax 😌 it’s about a sense of safety and security (which I know does not TRULY come about by means of things like overthinking…) Other times, I want to get it RIGHT - so, in order to do that, I have to think about ALL the elements This has been me when it comes to food, exercise, and all other things physical health That’s kind of what we’re taught to do, huh?? It’s totally understandable! We are just BOMBARDED with information from all sides and a whole heck of a lot of it is contradictory… How on earth could we ever know what to do??? Shhh…calm down…there’s another way A way that’s calm A way that’s peaceful A way that’s centered in the chaos of it all It doesn’t involve overthinking It doesn’t involve relentless gathering of more, more, more information (another thing I have been guilty of…) It doesn’t involve listening to others above all else It involves you + experimentation + trust + steadiness YOU have to begin with what feels best for YOU - and I mean “feels best” in the sense that you choose what you feel LED to do, by a part of you that you can’t quite put your finger on…(hint: it’s your intuition ✨) You choose and you play around with it - this is experimentation. You might have been led to it because it’s THE thing you’re meant to land on OR it could just be what’s leading you to the next thing. This is where trust comes in. It’s trusting the process. Trusting yourself. Trusting that nothing has to be permanent. Steadiness. Taking it slow. Not forcing. Having a calm mindset. A confident attitude. That you ARE finding your way. Today was a special day…we placed his ashes in the rose garden that he lovingly planted and nurtured; before unveiling a commemorative plaque in Paul’s memory, on our communal bench ❤️ A happy day of celebration and gratitude…and with death comes new life, as through this time and everything that’s come with it, I feel I have come back to life. If you’ve ever been in a fight, you know it’s not the time to be cute and pretty. Your only focus is the battle at hand and not losing that thang. SJ said, “Sometimes some stuff has to be snatched off so we can show them at the end of the day that we’re bout it for real.” No matter what it takes we gotta get to the other side. Now when I first saw the clip and photos of her wig sliding, I wasn’t interested in seeing the memes and hearing the things but when I turned to YouTube for my sermon this morning the most recent one was “Locked In”. What a word! She spoke on Acts 19:11 and reminded us that we must not neglect the physical parts of us. We have to tap into the intuition God has given us and act when something feels wrong. Then she also featured Philippians 4:6-8 and I decided to share it today. I was like that’s it, that’s the post! So, God told me that the message for today is:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. I am making some of my favourite pieces available on my Saatchi Gallery portfolio (link in bio, linktree) for print and I am excited sharing my work with you first time here. If you ahve seen me performing and painting, you know how special an event it is. The method of painting I used in "Tai Chi Warrior" is truly unique and unconventional. Rather than using traditional tools like brushes or palette knives, I painted entirely with my feet, using the movements of my body to apply the paint to the surface of the board. This approach to painting is inspired by tai chi practice, which emphasizes the connection between body and mind, and the fluidity of movement. By painting with my feet, I was able to tap into this connection, using the physicality of the process to infuse the artwork with a sense of energy and motion. The results are paintings that are not only visually stunning but also deeply expressive, with a texture and depth that is impossible to achieve with more traditional methods. The movement of my feet across the surface of the board creates a unique pattern of strokes and lines, giving the painting a sense of movement and flow. The use of my feet in the painting process is also symbolic, representing the idea of grounding oneself in the present moment, and finding balance and stability even in the midst of chaos or turmoil. A few months ago, Christ graduated me to a new way of self healing. He said that I do not need Him to heal because I have the sovereignty in me to heal myself. We all have within us a center of stillness surrounded by silence. Perhaps silence is something we're uncomfortable with as a culture. Many associate silence with doom or misfortune of the sorts. I use silence as a way to quite my mind and get my affairs in order. While I am quiet I am creating, learning, healing, and counseling.
