Core boards can support children to communicate for lots of different reasons including requesting, commenting and learning new vocabulary. We love using them during play to support your child’s speech and language development 🤍✨ Top tips: Model how to use the board whilst you play. This will help your child learn how to use it themselves and encourage communication in their own way. Imagine learning a new language – you would need to hear the words used in many different ways before you could use them yourself. Point to symbols and say the words. As a stroke survivor, recovery's a mental and emotional journey too. Emotionally, there were tough days, but focusing on mental well-being through mindfulness, visualization, and positive self-talk made a significant difference. After six months, depression and negativity set in as I saw little progress. It took a lot of therapy and self-work to overcome them and embrace my new life with a positive outlook. Additionally, support groups, loved ones and the below techniques all played a role in my journey. This #mayismentalhealthawarenessmonth2024, remember, it's okay not to be okay. There's help available, and mental health is key to recovery. Finding Calm: Mindfulness practices like meditation helped quiet racing thoughts. Simply find a quiet spot, focus on your breath, and gently bring your attention back if your mind wanders. Start with a few minutes and increase gradually. Positive Visualization: I also used visualization to imagine myself feeling calm and capable. For example, I might picture myself handling a stressful situation with confidence. Positive Self-Talk: Replacing negative thoughts with positive affirmations like "I am strong" or "I can handle this" helped boost my self-esteem. Putting Emotions on Paper: Journaling became my outlet. Write about what you're grateful for, challenges you face, and how you're feeling. Celebrate small victories! Remember, there's no right or wrong way.
