PT day. Recovering from the effects gout had on me last week, still definitely not 100%, but on my way. Whole body resistance training today, try for a run tomorrow to get my cardio in, no more biking for cardio for a while, had my bike nicked right off my porch, so I’ll have to save up for a new one. Can’t believe they came right up onto the porch to take it, honestly can’t remember if I even chained it up. Chaotic Sunday adventures! Our Sunday started at 6am for a casual stroll around the Hatea Loop, I'd like to think it was cold enough to feel refreshing but yet the thoughts that springs to mind is cold enough to freeze your...b....off! Rough week, rain finally went away, but I got gout and spent a few days off my feet completely. Was lacking for motivation and really struggled to control my urge to eat, but I know where that road leads and I know it’s a place I don’t want to be anymore, so back on the horse. Don't limit on yourself. Back in 2015 I ran the Cardiff 10k as a bit of a laugh with a group of colleagues I used to work with. I hadn't trained, I was overweight, working a desk job and the less said about my diet the better. I even cooked chicken, rice & veg the night before to convince myself that I was carb loading and had prepared properly 🙈😂 I ran & walked that 10k in 1 hour 18 minutes, finishing only ahead of a couple of colleagues who walked it. I got to the finish line and it blew my mind thinking that you'd have to run that plus a bit further to complete a Half Marathon and there was no way I could do that. The results were also published in an email to the whole company - I was embarrassed to say the least. After losing weight in 2021 I dusted off my running shoes (well, purchased some new ones) and began the Couch to 5k Programme. Now I've never been a runner and my close friends will know this from a "jogging not walking" phrase that's been attributed to me 😂 but I got the bug. Since then I've completed a Marathon and recently completed my 2nd Half Marathon in my goal time of sub 1 hour 45 minutes (JUST!!) knocking 9 minutes off my 1st Half Marathon time. That boy in 2015 who couldn't fathom running another 10k on top of what he had already struggled to do in 1 hour 18 minutes ran 21.1k in 1 hour 45 minutes 😲 You are the only person holding yourself back so please don't limit yourself as you can do whatever you set your mind too. Weight loss isn’t about nutrition and exercise. It’s about lifestyle, organisation and time management. In Neil’s case, he was struggling with fitting his exercise into a busy life of being a Dad and working long hours on-site or on the road. He was relying on quick fixes for food and that was causing him to gain weight. Worse than that, his poor energy levels made working long days even harder. So we focused on his nutrition immediately and he soon started to see massive changes. He was already fairly active at work so with a little bit of organisation he was able to include 3 workouts at the gym as well. The result was nearly 2 stone weight loss and a more energised dad that handled long days at work much better.
