I’m not in the business of creating workouts. “But, Surbhi, aren’t you a health and fitness coach?” Yes, and... let me explain. Many people think I am in the business of creating new exercises once someone is tired of their old routine. While that is sometimes the case, my clients are usually brand new to strength training and don’t know where to start. They’re injured, dealing with chronic pain, or they keep trying to build consistency but can’t seem to turn exercise into a habit. Why not? Because they’re preoccupied trying to build their careers, families, or both simultaneously. I’ve been there. A million times over. As someone who navigated one career move after another at companies like #zappos, #amazon, #nike, #athleta , and #slalomconsulting, it was exercise that kept me moving forward during moments of uncertainty. It was getting back in my body that allowed me to get out of my head and out of my own way. It was pushing my body out of its comfort zone that gave me confidence to explore new, exciting, and unsettling situations at work. ➡️ Long workday? I learned how to reset my nervous system. ➡️ Big deliverable? I learned how to exercise efficiently. ➡️ Difficult conversations? I learned how to physically and mentally release. When I work with clients today, I use the approach I taught myself over several years to help them feel successful both in and out of our sessions. And so, I am not in the business of creating workouts. I am in the business of enabling change. 🌟 Change in careers 🌟 Change in families 🌟 Change in moods 🌟 Change in one’s outlook on life 🌟 AND, change in one’s body Physical movement has been the cornerstone by which I’ve learned and coached others to navigate change. How high does the kettlebell swing really need to go? @matjohn730 with some great thoughts: “It all depends on the power and the weight you are using. I’m shown using a 25lb bell and getting the loft to my shoulders. Same with a 36lb and even a 72lb. However then I double the bells and use 56lb bells in each hand. And I’m still near chest height. Then I break out the 97lb bells and I barely get them above waist level. When we start with bells we want to ensure we are squeezing the glutes quickly to stand upright. Minneapolis is amazing, Bring Ya Ass! ◾ I showed my kids some of my favorite spots on the Minneapolis side of the river to celebrate turning 41 before heading to St. Paul on Sunday for hockey 🏒. There is SOOO much to love about living here, this only scratches the surface. ◾ @dunnbroscoffee hooking me up with a birthday iced espresso to start it off @lalomatamales cranks out the BEST authentic tamales in a variety of flavors at the Mercado Central @sebastianjoes ice cream makes my absolute favorite Oreo ice cream (available VEGAN!!!) @surlybrewing beer garden to toss back some brews and some bags! @pwhl_minnesota putting on for our city in games 3 & 4, and I can't adequately express the level of hockey we got to watch. ◾ Not all ☀️ and 🌈 as Fleury had to have an emergency surgery this weekend too, but he's ok and on the mend. ◾ I'm incredibly fortunate and grateful to live here and have the wonderful life that I do. Yesterday was Memorial Day, and even if you don’t know a single soul who sacrificed their life so you could have the freedom and opportunity to live out yours, I hope you understand the gravity of what that means. 🙏 It means a stranger—someone with a family, maybe a spouse and children—was willing to risk never seeing them again so that you and I could have a shot at doing something special with our time here on earth. 🥹 I was looking back at all the footage from the @bell_mechanics cert, and that’s all I see: people mustering the courage to give this life a REAL shot. 💫 Stepping outside their comfort zones to travel to a city some had never been to and meet people they’d only so far seen through a screen, to improve themselves as trainers in an industry where quality is typically sacrificed for self-serving speed. 👎 And they stood for each other. They cheered when someone succeeded and still clapped when they failed. 🙏 If that’s not a real effort to ensure the ultimate sacrifice made by some wasn’t in vain, I don’t know what is. 🕊️ … and from all of that, a real family was born. 🫂 People I could be honest with about recent decisions I’ve made to help me overcome some personal struggles that have been paining me for much longer than four weeks. 🙏 So if the holiday inspires you in any way, let it be 👇 • To dream insanely big. 💫 • To learn what you don’t already know so you can make those dreams come true • To not quit when things get hard or scary. 💫 • To not wait too long to get help if you need it, 🙏 and finally, • To remember that real greatness is actually “goodness.”💫 So do good and be great, loves. 🤝 Happy Memorial Day! 🇺🇸 Love you.🕊️

WEEK 7: EXTENSION DU TERRITOIRE Récapitulatif de cette semaine d'entraînement L'augmentation du volume commence à se faire sentir. (467) C'est 30 reps de moins que la semaine dernière soit une baisse de (5,35%) mais l'intensité ressenti (RPE) monte de 0,75 / 10 Je dirais que cela fait deux semaine de travail assez intense pour ce programme il va falloir redescendre sur les 10 prochains jours. Les 145 squats (dont 90 en une seule séance) sont la limite actuelle. On est au fin fond du territoire sur ce pattern. La réflexion pour pouvoir encore développer ce mouvement est soit l'emploi d'une variation spécialisée (par changement de forme de la structure : L'écartement des pieds) Soit par une réduction du volume ET augmentation de la charge OU par emploi de divers tempo, excentrique supervitesse , excentrique super lent, pause en bas, Squat pulse. Les 120 press dans la semaine tapent aussi mais c'est bcp plus gerable pour l'instant. La semaine prochaine est prévu 150 press environ. Il semblerait que les press à cette Intensité me coûte moins cher que les Squats à une Intensité moins élevée. Réflexions, Réflexions ? Les tractions montent sans réellement forcer 104 reps dans la semaine permettent également de décompresser la colonne vertébrale et d'améliorer la santé des épaules par la suspension. Les tirages sont effectués 1 fois par semaines et les Clean sont réalisés pour un nombre restreint (62) on ne peut pas forcer sur tous les patterns à la fois non plus. Restons concentré, Semaine 8 c'est Deaload sur les squats on coupe de 70% le volume. Les press augmentent les tractions, clean, tirages restent pareil. Cela ferait baisser la fatigue de tout le système vu que c'est les squats qui fracassant le plus. Je vous tiens au courant. I know some coaches don't believe in strength training but I'm an absolute fan. My workout from Coach Mel today consisted of some band work and other things. I added some Turkish Get-Ups with a KB, arm bars, farmers walk with two 28kg KBs, situps with a KB, and OH Carry. Total time just over an hour and it feels good. Back in the pool tomorrow... Strength training improves bone density, body fat composition and endurance. IT'S OK TO FEEL TIRED AT THIS STAGE 😴 I've said it before, and I will say it again, it's completely normal to feel tired at this stage of a competition prep block. Think about it, you've done: 8-12 weeks of hard specific training 💪 Monotony is starting to set in 🥱 Maybe in a calorie deficit if cutting weight 🤔 And finally, KETTLEBELL TRAINING IS HARD! 👊 So, rather than kick yourself for feeling tired and training sessions hard at this point. When I went to Thailand, I was lucky enough to train at a fighters gym, nothing touristy about this place. Owned by a multiple Lumpinee Champion who had over 200 career fights. Where the trainers fought almost every night and would come in with black eyes the next day to hold pads for you. Weekly fights in a ring that was put up 2 hours before fight night where a rival gym would bring their best fighters to compete. There’s a certain grit involved with training in a gym with a tin roof in intense heat surrounded by heavy hitters from around the world. It is an experience I will never forget. This is one of many experiences I’ve had in my journey. I’ve been able to train and represent some extraordinary gyms including The WAT (NYC), Son of Siam, Rawai Muay Thai (Thailand), ETC Denver, Gracie Ohio etc… I have picked up a wealth of knowledge over the years and I bring all of these experiences together for you in my new signature program for people over 40. 🚨 Getting lost in Turkey 🇹🇷 …the Turkish getup that is. I did some ring push-ups & a bunch of Turkish getup variations the other day. Ended up being 4 or 5 rounds of 12-15 push-ups and a different getup. I always prefer to do my Getups from the top down just so I only lay down once 🤷🏻‍♂️ (it also allows for more complexes too). This time I didn’t want to lay down on the floor shirtless 🫣 😂, so the goal was to sit down & maybe add some sort of press to add to the pump 💪🏼. No idea. Pozycja stojaka (rack position) to w kettlebell sport jedna z dwóch pozycji fiksacji (znieruchomienia wymaganego przez przepisy). Jest to również główna pozycja do „odpoczynku”, gdyż odłożenie odważników na podest jest równoznaczne z zakończeniem danego boju lub całego występu. Mięśnie tułowia są w tej pozycji rozluźnione, a plecy z reguły dość mocno wygięte. Ciężar odważników spoczywa na dłoniach oraz pionowo ustawionych przedramionach i poprzez łokcie oparte na talerzach biodrowych miednicy przenoszony jest na wyprostowane nogi. Dzięki takiemu ustawieniu mamy możliwość swobodniejszego oddychania oraz wyłączenia z pracy niektórych mięśni.
