Today is World IBD day. A day to educate and acknowledge those who have been diagnosed with IBD and are living life with this invisible disease. ⠀ I was diagnosed in 2008, and while I have found a way to keep myself in remission…with the help of medication…UC still impacts my life each and every day. ⠀ I thought IBD was merely one small facet of my life that I would have to overcome during times of “flares.” I was very naive to what life looks like long term with IBD and all that it can influence within my body. ‌ No one will say that my infertility is due to IBD and we may never know which came first, but how I wish I could go back in time to the girl in her early 20s being diagnosed. I would tell her to ask questions, be proactive, and to make sure that her dream of being a mother would and could come true. 🤍 ‌ My hope is that the IBD community will continue to grow and have conversations so that stories similar to mine can help others. If I can help or support one person then it makes sharing worth it. ⠀ If you know someone with IBD, send them some love today! 💜 ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #ibd #ibdawareness #ibdwarrior #worldibdday #worldibdday2024 #ulcerativecolitis #ulcerativecolitisawareness #breakthesilence #latina #nontoxiclifestyle #infertility #autoimmunedisease #ulcerativecolitis #psoriasis #hidradenitissuppurativa

Fitting to spend #WorldIBDDay at @ddwmeeting 💜 As much as Crohn’s has complicated my life, it has also brought so many incredible individuals into it, and that’s something I would never change. Across continents, languages, and cultures there is a collective desire to learn more about inflammatory bowel disease and how to improve the lives of those who are impacted by it. Seeing that in action is always moving and seeing the impressive strides made by people I am lucky enough to know feels surreal. My fellow patients, you are resilient, you are strong, and you are so damn amazing for all you push through. Thank you @amergastroassn and cheers to @marajshapiro for having the actual perfect outfit for today. #ddw #ddw24 #digestivediseaseweek #worldibdday #ibd #ibdawareness #crohnsdisease #inflammatoryboweldisease #patientadvocacy

Today is world IBD day. Here is a piece of my story. December 31st 2022 (first pic) I was having extreme stomach pain and thought I had appendicitis. I went to the er and they sent me home without doing any test and said it was period symptoms. A year goes by of misdiagnosis, er visits, many doctors, extreme pain, gaslighting, being told I was faking, and more. On december 12, 2023 I couldn’t take it anymore and went to the ER where they tried to discharge me with no tests. My amazing mom demanded and CT and less than 24 hours later I was in emergency surgery. I had a complete obstruction of the small bowel (closed and nothing could pass through). The next day I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. I ended up have another surgery, a month of TPN, many lab draws, over 100 IVs, weeks in hospitals (including my 18th birthday), infusions, and many many days NPO (nothing by mouth). After my second surgery I have been doing much better and so thankful for my team. I wish that was the end of my story but Crohns is a chronic illness that I will need to manage the rest of my life, But i am so thankful for my support system and Jesus for saving my life . ⚠️WARNING - read cation first - Vulnerable post here on World IBD Awareness day - ‼️‼️‼️the last photo is showing my still fresh surgery scar‼️‼️‼️ My journey with IBD - #ulcerativecolitis started in 2011. I had a wild ride with it and for a long time I was not taken seriously. Until I landed in hospital and got to meet the wonderful @bowman_charlotte who spent time educating me about UC and Jill who answered many questions over the helpline and delivered the much needed treatment. Charlotte and Jill walked alongside me on a very tough road. I later got looked after by the amazing Sarah and Becky (see the @ibdpatientpanel_ghh meet the team post) Villa and many others but unfortunately in many ways UC won in 2021. It was a hard fought battle, medication, steroids, immunosuppressants, biological therapy, a million tests and very many tears. In Oct 2021 I had my last part of the digestive system removed and have a permanent ileostomy since. The recovery did not go as planned and in Nov 2011 I had a second surgery due to complications and it took 8 months to get back to normal life. I live with a bag attached to my abdomen and this gave me another chance to life and a desire to enjoy this life. A very vulnerable second to the last photo will show you, the hospital experience was incredibly difficult, it is a screenshot from a videocall where I was telling @oana.puicar I am about to be discharged home. I have been in a very very dark place more than once and understand the coldness of the valley of the shadow of death referenced in Psalm 23. I thank God for bringing me out of it and to @oana.puicar for walking alongside me. On this World #ibdawareness Day I want to highlight that IBD is a terrible illness and it is one that produces a lot of pain and sorrow for 1 in 123 people in UK For anyone dealing with IBD, the support and understanding received from friends and family makes a massive difference. I was blessed with jobs where people understood and supported me but many employers and workplaces do not. If you know anyone with IBD like Crohns Disease or Ulcerative Colitis do reach out and send some love🤗 check out @crohnsandcolitisuk for more info

World IBD day… 💜 What a day it’s been, reading everyone’s harrowing and inspiring stories. The laughs at all the relatable shit I’ve seen and the tears that got me when a post was just that bit too close to home and the lovely PTSD I deal with rose it’s ugly little head. I won’t go into my story because today is all about everyone all together in the big bad world that is IBD and realising that with such a community any issues I do have at this point am sure someone’s had it just as tough or even worse. It’s not always I have happy thoughts when I think of my IBD… but boy has it given me a purpose and if that’s not something to truly take pride in and even be happy about. Then I dunno what is. I hope everyone’s had a great weekend and ready to smash the week ahead you guys all deserve it. 💜 Here’s a photo of me in the dam. Loving life surrounded by munchies & no thinking for a second of the bag of shit that’s about to burst and gee me something to giggle about 👏🏻😂 #colostomy #Ileostomy #ileostomies #ostomates #crohnsdisease #ulcerativecolitis #autoimmunedisease #crohns #CrohnsandColitis #ostomy #stoma #colitis #guthealth #ibd #ibdawareness #crohnsandcolitisuk #health #wellbeing #awareness #stomabag

I think I’m the worst advocate because I forgot yesterday was IDB day!!!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ to all my fighters, keep fighting. Keep fighting for awareness, keep fighting to be heard and keep fighting for yourself. No body knows what we go through every single day. The exhaustion, the pain, the anxiety and the stress. This year, I’m hitting 12 years fighting this fight. It has never been easy for me or my medical team. The confusion, the failed attempts at things that we thought would help but haven’t, the constant let downs, a lot of highs but a lot more lows. The questions always going around in my head of why am I so complex, why am I always being told I’m a complex patient, why am I not like this person or this person, and the worst question of all “why am I not normal” but I am! This is my normal, it may not be the next persons normal but this is my normal and I am slowly coming to terms with it. I am confident with my health and I know what I want and need. I’m fighting for my life and to live it the way I want. Just because you have a disease you can still live a life that you want!!! There may be bumps a long the way but it adds to the plot 😝 I’m learning to see the scary things in life as growth and with that perspective life becoming a lot more exciting than scary. We have got this. We will continue to fight 💪🏼 Sorry for the shittiest IBD post it was rushed 😝 #ibd #ibdawareness #ibdwarrior #ibdday #worldibdday #crohnsdisease #colitis #autoimmunedisease #spoonie

We’ve come a long way…💕 💜 World IBD Day 💜 Today is World IBD day. Crohn’s falls under the category of invisible illnesses, and I feel that this is the best representation of truly showing how you can be so unaware what someone is going through. Crohn’s also has no cure. 12 years, 4 operations, one temporary stoma, 3m of small intestine removed, countless medication, supplements and personal research later, and the girl on the right is living a healthy and immensely happy life. As you might know from previous posts, I’ve somehow miraculously reached a state of remission right now 🙌 But unless you know me well, you won’t know about what I deal with on a day to day basis when in a flare, because you can’t see it on the surface. It’s so important to raise awareness of IBD, because the less people know about it, the more anxiety it causes for the sufferer. Pretending everything is fine when it’s not is as exhausting as battling the disease itself. And as embarrassing as it can be to talk nabout it, I feel my best self when I’m around people who understand, who know what I go through, who sympathise and who let me talk freely about what I’ve been through, how I feel, my thoughts, feelings, deepest fears and more… So if you can take 5 minutes, please educate yourself on what IBD actually is. Living with a chronic illness is difficult. Being kind, being understanding, being supportive can make all the difference 💜 #worldIBDday #crohns #colitis #invisibleillness #crohnsandcolitisuk #morbuscrohn #chronicillness #IBDawareness #spreadlove

World IBD Day! A time to raise awareness about Inflammation Bowel Disease. @crohnsandcolitisuk Nearly 13 years between these photos. From being hospitalised and too weak to walk unaided to performing at festivals on stage with my @mightyvipers family Both of these photos are what an inflammatory bowel disease can look like. What you see & what you don’t see #worldibdday 💜 If you know someone who suffers from IBD, it will open your eyes to how bad and life threatening it is and all we have to endure to get through our lives. I live with awful debilitating symptoms, side effects, ptsd, complications, set backs and most days where my body feels absolutely destroyed. IBD has resulted in me losing a 5ft major organ, 7 surgeries in total, a permanent disability, endless MRI and CT scans, Chemotherapy treatment, Immunotherapy, ptsd, depression, fibromyalgia, untold amounts of medications/infusions the list goes on.. I’m completely exhausted mentally physically and emotionally, this is me on most days but it’s just easier to put a facade on. Nothing makes you want to live and die at the same time like a chronic illness does. I will always be here to support and raise awareness for my community 🙏 #ibdawareness #worldibdday #crohns #crohnsandcolitis #crohnsdisease #stoma #inflammatoryboweldisease disease

Today is World’s Inflammatory Bowel disease (Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis) day and this is what remission (and PRIVILEGE) looks like. . I have Crohn’s disease since age 17 and also a first degree family history of colon adenocarcinoma, and I am lucky enough to have insurance cover my medication and regularly scheduled colonoscopies. Unfortunately not everyone has this privilege. . Today I invite you to: 1. Stop the stigma and raise awareness for IBD providing support to those who need it. 2. Stop imposing limitations on what we can and can’t do (specially for those with a stoma aka bag) 3. Discuss your risk and appropriate screening schedule with your provider and GET YOUR COLONOSCOPY when adequate! Remember that the new recommendations for screening start at 45 years of age. 4. Donate to @crohnscolitisfoundation >85% of total donations goes to research, education, and support services 5. Hug your favorite person with IBD, trust me, they need it. . #ibdawareness #crohnsdisease #ibdwarrior #worldsibdday

Sending love and light to all those affected by Crohns and Colitis on #worldibdday TODAY 💜 Next month marks my 15 year anniversary of the final surgery for my total colectomy due the the severity of ulcerative colitis and dependence on Predisone/steroids for remission. It’s been a long road, but feeling so much happier and healthier (and med-free) now! Grateful to have a family and friend support system that have literally been through the 💩 with me… If any of you ever have questions or need further information about gut health, or these conditions—please reach out and send me a message. I’ve been through a lot (and happy to share/help as much as possible) but could also refer/connect you to GI providers as needed too. The website www.CCFA.org is a great one as well and I relied on their research and content so much through my diagnosis in 2002 and through my recovery. Pics taken from my last #colonoscopy last year—plumbing is a bit #humptydumpty , but all good! 😆 @crohnscolitisfoundation #guthealth #crohnsdisease #colitis #nocolonstillrollin #colectomy #prednisoneproblems #ibdawareness

It’s world IBD day… irritable bowl disease, a topic that’s so secretly present in my life. Secret because it makes people so uncomfortable (myself included sometimes) to talk about BUT so efffing real (everybody poops)! This journey is tough, especially in the beginning and over the 18 years I’ve had this disease I STILL have insecure moments and nervousness around this disease. From a ruptured intestine, going septic, being rushed into emergency surgery, coping with a stoma & colostomy bag, navigating my romantic relationship, another surgery, endless insecurities, diet changes, learning what feeling good actually feels like, hospital infusions, working out, building core strength again, gaining muscle, competing & winning NPC bikini, biologic injections, remission, backsliding then remission again…. It’s a LOT - but so am I! You’re only given what you’re strong enough to handle so never forget your power and what you’re capable of. You’re here & you matter! Sending so much love to all the IBD warriors out there… You’re the real deal ILYSM and I support you! #worldibdday #ibdawareness #crohnsawareness #ibdwarrior #ibdstrong

Today is World IBD Day!! 💜 IBD - stands for Inflammatory Bowel Disease, the main two conditions that fall under IBD are Crohns and Ulcerative Colitis. As a sufferer of Ulcerative Colitis myself, I know it can be an incredibly tough condition to live with. While IBD is gaining more awareness around the world, there is still a lot more that can be done! For example; having just come to Canada from New Zealand, one of the big differences I have noticed is the amount of free public toilets. In New Zealand there were loads, however there seems to be a lack of them in Canada, which can be worrying for people with IBD. A lot of people in the world have also never heard of this condition, and so hopefully this post will reach others so they can research about it and become more aware. IBD is a chronic, autoimmune disease, where the persons own immune system attacks the bowel, causing inflammation. As you can imagine, this leads to some very unpleasant symptoms! It’s an invisible illness, which means although on the outside we may look fine and healthy, the reality is, on the inside, this is far from the truth! After being diagnosed in 2018, I had a bit of a tough time dealing with it. Thankfully though in 2022 my condition entered a period of remission and meant I could go off travelling 🌎 There is no cure however for IBD and it is always in the back of my mind that my Ulcerative Colitis could flare up again at any time. I do still suffer with fatigue, one of many symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis, but for now I am out here travelling the world while I can, living life to the full, making the most of it! 💪🏼💜 For anyone wanting to learn more about IBD, Crohns and Colitis you can check out the following official Instagram profiles: @crohnsandcolitisuk @crohnscolitisfoundation If you got down this far, thanks for taking the time to read my post! 😊💜 #anythingispossible #worldibdday #ulcerativecolitis #crohnsandcolitis #crohnsandcolitisuk #ibdawareness #ulcerativecolitisawareness #chronicillness #chronicwarrior #fatigue #invisibleillness #travellingwithulcercolitis #ibdtraveller #raiseawareness #inflammatoryboweldisease #ittakesguts

Have you had symptoms of IBD? Chronic recurrent diarrhoea, change in bowel movements, abdominal pain, fatigue, bloating, excess gas …? Don’t be afraid to contact your doctor and get referred for tests. I was diagnosed last year and yes it is restricting in terms of diet and affects socialising when in a flare. Meditation and self~hypnosis helps me to manage and reduce stress which can trigger flare ups. #ibdawareness #ibddayworld #ibdworldday #ibdday2024 #hypnotherapy #hypnosisworks #relaxation

You wake up every morning to fight the same demons that left you so tired the night before, and that, my love, is bravery 💜💜💜 Today, we wear purple for World IBD Day 💜 This is my 13th year as an IBD warrior, and every person has a different story and experience with this disease.  It took me years to be able to share my story and to overcome the shame and bitterness I felt. Being diagnosed at 18 with something that most people saw as "a pooping disease" and that was absolutely taboo to talk about was extremely difficult. I'm thankful that I'm able to share my story and journey with people who go through such similar things as I do. Also, to raise awareness that Crohn's and Colitis is so much more than that! IBD, along with being just a pooping disease, means: 🍬 Joint and muscle pain 🍬 Skin disorders 🍬 Fatigue 🍬 Irregular periods 🍬 Night sweats 🍬 Anemia 🍬 Weight loss or gain 🍬 Vomiting 🍬 Fistulas 🍬 Infertility 🍬 And many more It also means: 🍭 Frequent doctors appointments 🍭 Having multiple specialists, surgeons, and doctors 🍭 Frequent Bloodwork 🍭 Treatments 🍭 Medications 🍭 B12 Shots 🍭 Colonoscopies/ Endoscopies 🍭 Surgeries 🍭 Hospital stays 🍭 Other tests and more! Happy world IBD to all the bad ass warriors out there!! 💜💜💜 Also, Tenley says don't forget to donate to the gutsy walk to support my Mommy and a great cause! HAPPY WORLD IBD DAY💜 When I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at age 16 I didn’t know anybody my age with the disease. I only knew about it because my mom had received the same diagnosis at 15. For years I hid my symptoms and only shared my diagnosis with some, talking about a “pooping disease” isn’t exactly easy at a young age. But IBD is so much more than a “bathroom disease” and so much more than just stomach problems. Younger me absolutely could’ve benefited from this community I have found and helped create. I love IBD day because people from around the world speak up and share their stories and work to raise awareness and break stigmas surrounding IBD. To all my fellow IBD warriors you are strong, amazing and definitely NOT alone. When Anita’s husband Pat was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, this led to planned surgeries and unforeseen health issues that impacted both their lives. You can read their story on our website. "Happy" world IBD day. I HATE Ulcerative Colitis! I hate how much I have suffered, being not believed, being put on medication that made everything worse then being told to take it more. Having a colonoscopy against my will where they prepped me for 2 days and then they said reason i was mostly unconscious was because I don't have a big social life NOT because my potassium was CRITICALLY LOW but of course they didn't treat me for critically low potassium and I didn't know that because this very famous hospital doesn't allow 13-17 year olds to see ANY test results "for our safety"!?!! The amount of trauma and pain that I have experienced should never have happened! I HATE IBD!!! #ibd #ulceritivecolitis #worldibdday #ibdawareness #colitisawareness #chronicillnesswarrior💪 #chronicillness

World IBD day 2024. IBD is a chronic illness that affects many people. There is no cure. 11 years ago I was diagnosed with this disease and been through my share of ups and downs. What many people don't realise is that just because you look OK, doesn't mean you aren't suffering badly. Whether that be mentally or in the middle of a relapse desperately needing to locate the nearest facilities when nature calls without warning. And yes that has happened to me a few times and definately the most humiliating feeling in life. How does it affect us? Our energy levels are lower than most others (so by about lunchtime I'm tired), we must cut out foods that cause flare ups etc. Without the amazing team at UCH who have got me back in remission twice (after a bad relapse 3 years ago), I don't want to imagine where I would be. All of us IBD sufferers owe so much gratitude to our medical teams. #ibd #ibdawareness #invisibleillness #worldibdday #photooftheday #london #photography #gratitude

First picture, my skin is at its worst. Believed to be reactions to adhesives and made many changes to my supplies. 2nd picture after some steroid cream there was then some improvement. The Stoma team then took Swabs, which came back positive for a skin infection, so the third is now 2 days on antibiotics! Today has been world IBD day & May, IBD month... So I thought I'd share a little to help raise awareness I was diagnosed with Crohns disease several years ago but struggled with symptoms prior to my diagnosis. As far back as my uni days I was told I was suffering from stress, IBS & was even tested for Coeliacs disease; when those tests were clear I was told I must be intolerant to certain foods... It was after an admission to hospital (and months of out patient appointments afterwards) that I was diagnosed with crohns and another condition also. I have good days and some that are not so good, but each day I experience symptoms of some kind. Unfortunately, I was intolerant to medications I have tried so far but there are others I can try. I have had iron infusions & drinks to replace minerals etc. But fortunately I have not needed surgery. If you have read this far, thank you. Please know I am sharing this firstly, to remind folk that not every 'disability' or disease is visible, so be kind to one another and secondly, to say listen to your body, go to the doctor...make sure you're healthy 🫶 #worldibdday #crohnscolitis #crohnscolitisuk #livingwithcrohns #noteverydisabilityisvisible #ibdawareness #keepgoing

Steps to Symptom-Free IBD is my signature program. It was designed from my personal experience to becoming symptom-free. It's based on the journey I took from my worst flare to living my life without the impact of IBD. I went from being in hospital being put on biologics to remission and off biologics within a year. I went from urgency, passing blood, being in pain to normal BMs. I went from tired, no energy to being able to say yes to life and the opportunities that came my way. I went from my worst flare to remission within less than a year. I went from not being able to work to returning to work within 3 months. I have lived like I don't have IBD since 2017. What changed? I came to realise that this disease needs more than just modern medicine. It needs attention on the root cause. Release of the causes of the dysregulation within. Your IBD, your body needs support and inner healing. This program shows you the steps I took whilst also providing the support of my knowledge and skills. You will have access to tools and practices that will support you through life, not only our time together. You will have access to talk therapy, subconscious soul guidance, and holistic coaching for healing and release. This is a unique and powerful blend of support that is available to you. I invite you to join me as I lead this round of Steps to Symptom-Free IBD starting on 17 June. Today I am supporting World IBD Day & raising awareness for this chronic invisible disease. 🦠 Right now I am sooooo lucky to be living my best life, last year I was healthy enough to be able to travel to 6 different countries which I never thought would be possible 2 years ago when I ended up hospitalized with the worse flare up I had ever had. I had actually been very sick during the Pandemic with a flare but luckily steroids got me over it that time. I am so grateful right now as it hasn’t always been easy coping with UC, it’s also the case for many others struggling with this disease on a daily basis it’s very difficult. The extreme fatigue, bloated stomach, urgency & bloody diarrhea 35 times a day, the severe stomach pains, joint pain, feeling nauseous, weight loss & malnutrition. I feel extremely lucky at the moment because of the amazing biologic I am taking every 8 weeks (Ustekinumab)without this I would be so poorly so I am grateful every day to be able to live my life and do all the things I love to do from travelling, yoga, eating out (I’m a real foodie) time with family & friends. I am so thankful to my wonderful IBD team who really look after me and for @crohnsandcolitisuk for all the research & amazing work they do There is a light at the end of the tunnel we just have to keep battling on in those dark times and keep on raising awareness. If you have any symptoms you think could be IBD please go to the @crohnsandcolitisuk symptom checker on their website and don’t delay getting help asap. 💜💜💜 #ibdwarrior #worldibdday2024 #ibdday2024 #ibd #ibdawareness #ibdvisible #invisibleillness #invisibleillnessawareness #invisibledisability #invisibleillness #ulcerativecolitis #ulcerativecolitisawareness #ulcerativecolitisfighter #colitis #colitiswarrior #colitisfighter #ittakesguts #ibdwarriors #crohnsandcolitis #crohnsandcolitisawareness #crohnsandcolitisuk

I have ulcerative proctitis. I was diagnosed in 2017 after I noticed some scary symptoms, including rectal bleeding and urgency for the bathroom. I had never heard of Proctitis or IBD back then. I knew nothing about it and had no idea it was a chronic disease. What does it mean? I'll have it forever. I'll be in and out of flares (bleeding, 10+ bathroom visits a day, bedridden) forever. I suffer from chronic fatigue, and I have some hair loss and some joint pain. I can't do what I used to do, and not everyone understands (I will lose friends who don't). I will be taking medication daily for the rest of my life. I have to have frequent blood tests and a colonoscopy every 2 years as I have a higher chance of getting bowel cancer. My diet has had to completely change, not because I'm fussy but because I will get sick. I look healthy, I work, exercise, I smile, and I get on with my daily chores even when I'm suffering. It is invisible, and no one would know I have it. P.S It is not IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). #ibdwarrior #proctitis #ulcerativecolitis #chrohnsdisease #ibdsuperheroes #chronicilness #chronicfatigue #bekind #showunderstanding #ibdawareness #ibdnotibs

This is me. This bag is a consequence of having IBD. I’ve had IBD for almost half my life now, having been diagnosed just after finishing university. I spent my twenties in and out of flares, which got progressively worse. I could never find the right magical mix of lifestyle and medication choices to keep the disease at bay. My story took a sinister turn when I developed lymphoma in my large bowel. The treatment resulted in a catastrophic bleed, followed by an emergency sub-total colectomy. In this first few weeks and months, I really struggled to come to terms with the idea of living with this bag stuck to me. But in a way, I was lucky. My daughter had just been born - I had lots of reasons to fight my fears and find a way to accept, and even start to appreciate this lifesaving, yet life changing operation. I’ve had this bad boy for ten years now. It’s been a game-changer for me - I don’t experience any symptoms, any pain, or any real difficulties with the bag. For me, there is no doubt that having a stoma was the best option, and I’m grateful for everything that I’ve been able to enjoy over the last decade. Five or so years ago, when I first started doing bits here, I was still in the honeymoon period. I still couldn’t believe that it was possible to feel so healthy, so positive, with an ostomy. I used to tell people that I’d been cured. Over time, I’ve realised that was a naive perspective. IBD still has me. I think about past traumas every day. I wonder what I could’ve done differently. I empty my bag, wishing I didn’t have to empty a bag, despite all of the good that it has done for me. And I worry about the future - because as we all know, IBD is anything but predictable. You never know what is around the corner. IBD looks like me. I’m proud to look like me. I’ll be honest - I wish I didn’t need this community! But I’m very glad to have found it, and to have made some connections that have helped me more than they know. #worldibdday #worldibdday2024 #ibd #ibdawareness #crohnsdisease #crohnsdiseaseawareness #ulcerativecolitis #ulcerativecolitisawareness #ostomy #ostomyawareness #stoma #stomaawareness #ileostomy #ileostomyawareness

Today is World Inflammatory Bowel Disease Day. Worldwide, it affects 10 million people, and knowing which foods to eat can become an ordeal. Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) include Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Both are characterized by inflammation of the lining of part of the digestive tract, due to dysregulation of the intestinal immune system. Today we share with you the nutrients to look for and those to avoid: ✅ Dietary fibers such as legumes or whole grains are important for a healthy gut. ✅ Probiotics bacteria and fermented milk such as yogurt or kefir may be helpful in the management of ulcerative colitis. ✅ Lean proteins sources such as fish or eggs participate in growth and repair of body tissues and are rich in iron. ❌ Red meat should be limited to 115g per week. ❌ Choose as much as possible unprocessed foods to limited the absorption of salt or artificial sweeteners. As a dietician, what is your advice for IBD patients? Source :@food4gut_health. #ibd #ibdwarrior #ibdawareness #worldibdday #ibddietitian #dietitiantips #dietitiansofinstagram #dietitians
