CALL TO ACTION (please scroll down to the comments for the most important part; skip my musings if you’re in a hurry)✨ ✨ I am a lion-hearted, peaceful warrior, a descendant of shield maidens, mystics, and sacred song keepers from my Celtic and Nordic lineages. My voice is my sword. My heart is my guide. My courage is my shield. My roots (like so many of ours across the earth) contain far too much viol*ence, wa*r, and suffering. And I truly believe one of the biggest toxic ancestral patterns I am here to shift (both in my own family and in the family that is our world) has to do with breaking the cycles of viol*ence, the never-ending loop of the oppressed becoming the oppressor, the trauma cycle that continues ad nauseam if we don’t stop this raging wildfire. I believe more clearly than ever (and feel the fire in my bones more and more each day) that I am on this earth to bring healing through my words, through my songs, through the medicine of who I am.✨ ✨ I have a single coming out in the world in the near future (more details to come), and I want nothing more than for this song to be a harbinger of healing, liberation, and peace for our hurting world. I am scheming of the best way to use it to support Ga♥️za and all those suffering needlessly and relentlessly right now. My “mark” is a loopy, curly Q. When I study patterns, I gravitate towards those based on organic shapes which tend to be more curvilinear. When I make marks in my work, I make circles. My maiden name: Quill, was a lifelong nickname—teachers who couldn’t remember my first name, my father’s pet name for me: Quillie, my mother singing “Susie Q” every morning, a clever friend calls me Squillie to this day—the Q has been an identifier my whole life. I’ve changed my name in marriage but always kept that Q. Until recently, I thought us Quill’s were a very small fraction of the world. And then I went to Ireland. I saw my name on businesses and gravestones. I saw generations of Quill’s working, surviving, thriving. More than ever, I want to proudly celebrate that beautiful letter.
