He started gigging at the age of 12, and grew up surrounded by both the blues music popular in his home town of Maryport, and the Irish folk music played by his father. His playing and song-writing styles reflect these varied influences. Jamie met Sam Kelly in Brighton and the two have been musically inseparable since. Jamie and Sam are playing together in The Fisher Theatre on Saturday 7th September. Jamie attended the Brighton Institute of Modern Music where he received a 1st Class BA Hons in Music Performance. At University he met his long time musical collaborator Sam Kelly, whose band Sam Kelly and the Lost Boys has won a BBC Folk Award and seen Jamie play all over the world. Today is the official release day of Alanna and Alicia's new album, 'Heart Song Listen.' It doesn't seem so long ago that they sang the first songs they'd written to us by the fire in the loungeroom. We were stunned, and as more followed, I knew we needed to record these songs, even just for the family. The recording resulted in their debut album, 'Funny She's so much Like Me.' Now hundreds of gigs, festivals and kms later, Alanna and Alicia have released their beautiful fifth album, 'Heart Song Listen.' We are so proud of them. Many thanks to everyone who has been part of the journey, especially their current band, brilliant guitarist, Damien Neil who has recorded four albums with them and toured all over, and the amazing and highly talented @sarah_and_silas, on their twin violins, piano and snare drum. We'll all be celebrating the new album at @thewesleyanne, Northcote next Friday, May 10th. Most Border sides are noted for wearing a style of Morris kit know as ‘Tatters’ but Catseye are recognisable by our long tail tailored waistcoats and colourful shirts 👁️🗨️ each of us gets to express a level uniqueness in our choice of coloured shirt and how we decorate our top hats. The Squire always wears Black so you’ll be able to spot them amongst the rest of our colourful garbs.
