BUT YOU ALREADY HAD MUSCLE BEFORE YOU WENT VEGAN 💪🏼🌱 Yes. I’ve been training for 20+ years. For many many years I been prepping my food. Carbs+Protein+Fat, most of of the time I’ve been in a surplus aiming for growth. This hasn’t changed since transitioning to a vegan diet, what changed is my mindset in regards to my protein choice, also my health improved while I’m continuing to put on muscle. I’ve put on a good amount of size since transitioning, about 38kg all up (last bulk I went up to 130kg) I’ve just finish my cut and went down to 118kg. Some of the new gains is lean muscle mass. I didn’t put this on because I went vegan. I’ve put this on because I’m training heavy 5-6 days a week. I eat according to my goals. I have adequate rest days and recovery sessions. I focus on my water intake, sleep and stress management. Nothing changed other than where my food comes from. HERE IS HOW I‘M BUILDING MUSCLE AS A VEGAN 🌱🦍💪🏼 1. eating enough: if you wanna grow-you gotta eat! I’m currently on 3000 calories and I’m aiming to go up again to 1500 within the next few weeks. You ideally wanna be in a slight calorie surplus in order to grow 🍚🫘🥦 2. getting enough protein: its so important to not only eat enough protein but also choose high-quality protein sources that provide all essential amino acids. Adjusting protein intake based on your personal needs for muscle building will lead to optimal results. 3. having a structured training plan: it must be priority to have a customised plan rather than switching between random workouts. I also track my progress in my own app (V-SHAPED) so I know where to start the following week so I can build on that rather than wasting precious time starting from a weight too low. 4. Recovery and rest: if you are allowing your muscles to recover properly by getting adequate sleep, managing stress and with incorporating rest days into your training schedule, it will get them all ready and prepared for a good training routine! I’m personally aiming for 7h sleep a day, 2 rest days, massages, hot and cold pools, stretching/foam rolling. For stress management I’ll do little breathwork sessions and nature walks! 5. Consistency! Patience! Resilience! Falling in love with the progress! Here are three interesting facts about us that you may not know: 1. We took a leap of faith and decided to move together just two weeks after we met. If you know you know-right? It was a little scary but also very exciting (it was Sunday’s fault too but that’s another story). Best decision ever to quickly discover that we are compatible, saving us from potentially wasting months and months in a relationship that might not have worked out! 2. Jani eats more than Mateus.
