But then came Mega Man, a game that boldly let me choose every possible path from the very beginning… freedom that was both a blessing and a curse. Sure, I could face the levels in whatever order I wanted, but if I didn’t face and defeat Ice Man before taking on Fire Man, I wouldn’t possess the abilities I needed to succeed. Even in a non-linear game, there is always an optimal path if we will search for it. While the Father has given each of us free will to pursue anything our heart desires, choices that we make outside of His will always places us in predicaments we weren’t meant to face in this manner. His perfect plan for our lives will still feature challenges, but when we surrender to His guidance we will face them in His divine order, allowing Him to fully prepare us for them in advance. It was the first time I chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo for 10 hours in one day. 📿🙏🛐 With the support f my local fellow members, I was able to conquer this challenge. Late SGI President Daisaku Ikeda shares that, “It is, therefore, my ardent(passionate) hope, that no matter what happens, you will continue chanting the lion’s roar of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and live out your lives together with the Soka Gakkai and fellow members. Feel like fasting? 📚 Qatadah Ibn Malhan al-Qaysi narrated: " The Messenger of God ﷺ directed us to fast the white days: namely the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth of each month. He said: This is like keeping ongoing fast.'' (Collected in Sunan Abu Dawud) 🌖 The ''White Days'' follow the nights when the moon is brightest, which is the 13th, 14th & 15th of each lunar month. In the current month of Dhul Qadah, the days will correspond with the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th of May, in the UK. ⚖️ The reward for fasting is greater in Dhul Qadah because it is one the four sacred months. 🌕 These are optional fasts, not obligatory like Ramadan. Sometimes we want to justify what we are doing and say, "It feels right, so it can't be wrong." However, if God's Word says something is wrong, it's wrong, no matter how right it feels. The old adage, "Let your conscience be your guide," is only half the truth. The other half should read, "as long as your conscience is grounded in and guided by the clear teachings of God's Word." As a redeemed child of God, you are called to live by His commandments instead of your feelings, impulses, emotions, or popular thinking. When those things guide you, the winds of temptation can sweep you off course and shipwreck you. Paul writes: "Timothy, my son, the instructions I am giving you are based on what some prophets once said about you. If you follow these instructions, you will fight like a good soldier. You will be faithful and have a clear conscience. Some people have made a mess of their faith because they didn't listen to their consciences. Two of them are Hymenaeus and Alexander. I have given these men over to the power of Satan, so they will learn not to oppose God" (1 Timothy 1:18-20). We don't know much about Hymenaeus and Alexander, but what we do know is sobering and instructive. They failed to develop, protect, and live by a conscience that was grounded in God's Word and ended up spiritually shipwrecked. What a graphic image: a ship broken to pieces on the rocks because it got off course. Read // 2 Chronicles 6:18-21 The dream was a long time coming. But years after Solomon began its construction, God’s temple was finished. This magnificent structure was more than a building. It was the centerpiece of Israel’s identity—the place where the people would meet with God. There, He could live among them in a tangible way, in a place built to His specifications and befitting His glory. In today’s passage, we can hear hope and longing in Solomon’s prayer of dedication: God, will You keep Your promises to our ancestors, to us, and to our children? The highest heavens can’t contain You—and yet, is it possible You will dwell here among us? In some ways, this is our age-old question. In the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve communed with God. In the wilderness, as the liberated slaves journeyed to the Promised Land, they erected a tabernacle, a dwelling place for God among their own tents. In Jesus, we believe God came in the flesh to live—to “tabernacle”—with us. And in Revelation, God makes the incredible pronouncement that His dwelling will be with mankind forever (Rev. 21:3). This hope may seem unbelievable, but God’s Word is true and unshakeable—a cause for joy. For now “we know in part,” but a perfect day will come when we will be united with our Lord and “know fully,” as we have been “fully known” (1 Cor. 13:9; 1 Cor. 13:12). #dailydevo #devotion
