I read the first of the zodiac academy books nearly 3 years ago when I was just getting back into reading again. This series has really been a ride and I’ve felt all the emotions while reading them. FINALLY finished the zodiac academy series!! Only took me 3 bloody months and a minor ruthless boys of the zodiac interval but oh my god how am I sad that it’s over?? Zodiac Academy Sorrow and Starlight 📚✨ It took me so long to get through this one, partly because I didn't read on vacation and it didn't grab my attention as much as other books in the series. I still enjoyed reading it and I'm looking forward to the next book, but I think Sorrow and Starlight would have been better if some of the material was cut. 🫣 Since this is the 8th book in the series, I am not doing an in depth review because it will be too hard to leave out spoilers. I will say the latter half was my favorite, specifically everything revolving around Tory's storyline, if you know you know. 👀 Here are a few of my favorite quotes: •"Know yourself and own every piece of who you are." •"I will love you whole and I’ll love you in pieces. I feel like 3.5 / 5 stars is accurate, in my opinion. Did I love how the series ended? Yes! But both the series and Restless Stars felt way too long for me. Restless Stars had a lot of buildup to the war with the False King, and there were so many details on the war that I found myself wanting to skip ahead. I did not hate the final book in the Zodiac Academy series, but it did not hold the same excitement I felt initially with the series. While I will miss these characters and the True Queens, it did feel like it was time to finish the series. Okay overall, I loved this conclusion to the series!!😍😍and the freaking epilogues😭😍I loved it felt like the best type of closure for the 9 book series (& many novellas)🥰. I don’t think I’ll ever get over the epilogues tho, and the fact there were so many chapters dedicated to the lives of characters years into the future was so precious🥹, it felt like such a gift to be able to see so much of their lives unfold🖤. But that said, I really think this book should have been more like 500-600 pages instead of 1100😭there were so many unnecessary povs in my opinion and because of this it made my fav characters feel less strong in this book in terms of voice🤦🏼♀️. I felt like Tory and Darcy seemed more like the same person in this book, rather than their typical differentiated selves🤷🏼♀️. And honestly, I was shocked that there were not as many tragic character deaths or high stakes in this book, considering how much emotional damage was done in the series leading up to the conclusion. Okay but I loved how much the core group was together in this one! After how the last book ended, I didn’t expect the main characters to be together so soon and I was pleasantly surprised😍. I loved seeing the group dynamics and how the found family trope was really apparent in this book👏. ✨ Book Review - Zodiac Academy 9: Restless Stars by @carolinepeckham ✨and @susanne_valenti Without question: 5⭐️ I finished ZA9 a few weeks ago but I still think about it all the time and I can’t believe the series is over. I went into this with some very cautious expectations because I learned a long time ago, the Twisted Sisters have a reputation for taking their storylines in some weird and wonderful directions so it’s best not to get your hopes up or fall in love with characters. However, they have written so many adorable, funny and lovable characters that it’s incredibly hard NOT to get attached. The pacing is quite fast from the get go (understandably considering the current situation) and it was quite intense for most of storyline. But, there are lots of hilarious and touching moments that really pull at your heartstrings. I think I cried for 3 whole chapters which is not like me at all!! As usual, there were many twists and turns and things that happened unexpectedly but for me, it felt like an amazing conclusion to an equally amazing series. I truly hope other fans of the series are as pleased with the ending as I am. I feel like I’ve been living in this world for so long that it feels kind of sad to be saying goodbye but this series will always hold a special place in my heart. Is it finally time to start the Zodiac Academy series? If you’ve already read the ZA series, are they easy reads? Or is my brain going to hurt trying to keep track of all of the characters and world building info? I keep getting tempted to start and then stop myself because there are so many books in the series that the thought is overwhelming to me! In 2023, I read ACOTAR twice, Throne of Glass, and the Crescent City series. Even though I loved the books and the journey, it was exhausting and I had to take a break from fantasy books for a while. I’ve already started multiple books this month bc I am a mood reader and I like to have multiple books to choose from depending on how I’m feeling. I’m still unsure if the timing is right? April Reads 📖✨ I had a very good reading month which felt amazing after getting out of a reading slump! The series that really helped me was Zodiac Academy! It was such an addicting series that I once I picked up the first book I couldn’t stop! 🪽 Another series that I couldn’t stop reading was the Addicted series! This series is so talked about that I had to read it and find out for myself and I wasn’t disappointed! These books managed to get so many emotions out of me and I haven’t felt like that reading a series in a while! These characters hold a special place in my heart 🩷 Done and Dusted and Powerless were such good quick romances that I couldn’t put down for the life of me! I love Elsie Silvers writing and how she creates such beautiful connections between her characters! I loved that in Powerless I felt there was a more emotional connection than physical in which in her other books we got physical first then emotional connection later, so this was a nice change! Done and Dusted was a perfect quick cowboy romance in which I loved! I haven’t read a why choose in so long and I forgot how much fun they can be. Our FMC Elise is going to Aurora Academy to find out who killed her brother and to avenge him. But she’s doing it under a secret identity and I LOVE this trope. Elise is so much fun. She’s Snarky, witty and honestly a bad ass. I love getting to see her dynamic with all four of her boys. We have Leon the Lion (still makes me giggle) who is the funniest character in this series. He’s just a ray of sunshine and I love him so much. Then we have Ryder the Basilisk shifter who is your broody hero with a traumatic past and I want to protect him at all costs. Next, we have Dante who is our Storm Dragon and just the sweetest. He cares so much for the people he loves. He also waxes poetry to our FMC in a foreign language which automatically makes him a 10/10. Lastly, we have Gabriel our harpy and in my opinion the most intriguing of the bunch! He has a very secretive past and I’ve been dying to learn more about him! This whole series has just been so funny and entertaining and I love all the plot twists & mystery that’s in it. I can’t wait to finish and finally just have all the answers! The Zodiac Academy by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti — Book Review 📚 My Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4 Stars Read if you like: ♊️Astrology references 🦄Fae 👑Royal intrigue 🤫Keeping secrets 🧛Vampires and werewolves Synopsis ✨: The Vega twins, Darcy and Tory, leave the human world and arrive at Zodiac academy after learning that they are fae and the rightful holders of the Solarian throne (due to their parents’ passing). However, the four celestial Heirs who currently claim the throne don’t believe the twins deserve to rule and will do anything to try and stop them. Thoughts 💬 Being a twin myself I might be slightly biased towards this book 👯♀️ ha. This book gave me slight Harry Potter vibes and major Legacies (spin off of The Originals TV show) vibes. I personally like both! I found this book really addicting to read, even though there was not much world building. The book goes back and forth between the Vega twins POVs. I will say it took me some time to try and differentiate between the two sisters, because in the beginning, I felt there wasn’t a lot of depth to their character stories. I liked that this book was fast paced and I was really interested in all the different orders of ‘fae’ which included vampires, werewolves, sirens, pegasus, griffins, dragons and more. Overall, I found the concept of Zodiac academy intriguing and wanted to learn more. Keep in mind that as the Vega twins arrive to the Academy there is some bullying that goes on by the four celestial Heirs. While the heirs are handsome and mysterious they can be cruel and they subject the twins to some humiliating acts. Overall, it was an addicting read and I plan to continue the series and have already ordered the second book!
