Sometimes it’s all about putting words on the page. We’ve all had those days: no desire to write, but a goal we are striving for nevertheless. It doesn’t mean we’ve suddenly fallen out of love with the act of writing. Sometimes small wins are just what we need to move our work toward the finish line. 1. SETTING A DAILY WORD COUNT GOAL MAKES AN ENORMOUS PROJECT—LIKE WRITING A NOVEL—FEEL MORE MANAGEABLE. Writing an 80,000-word draft? Yikes. Writing 500 words twice per day? Seems achievable to me. Even if you miss a few days, you’ll still reach your goal in about three months this way. 2. WRITING CAN FEEL ISOLATING, BUT FRIENDS CAN JOIN SPRINTS OR CELEBRATE YOUR PROGRESS! The writing process, and the required self-motivation it requires, is different for everyone. It’s important to know what will recharge your battery. This work is a marathon, not a sprint. 3. ONCE YOU REACH YOUR DAILY WORD COUNT GOAL, ANOTHER FEELS ACHIEVABLE. AND THEN ANOTHER. I don’t know about you, but it’s easier for me to build on success than to start from zero. I watched Jennifer Lopez's This Is Me...Now: A Love Story movie and its paired documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told last month. I enjoyed both projects for different reasons, but several things in the documentary stood out to me. I've always loved BTS footage and the making of details lol I would watch bonus features on DVDs over and over again. Watching the creative process and seeing pieces become a final product is so cool to me and that's a big reason why I enjoyed this documentary! I saved a lot of quotes from Jennifer Lopez where she's talking about her vision for her joint album and movie passionately. It was satisfying and insightful to see her stand firm in her expression and execution, despite worries and doubt. Can you think of a book that doesn't have "second book syndrome"? For people who don't know the expression, it's really common in a book series that readers will absolutely adore the debut, but then feel underwhelmed by the sequel. Whether it's because they expected the story to go a different way or otherwise, most bookworms have experienced this at least once. My question today is, what books escaped this dreaded fate? And what did they do differently? MY THEORY •••••••••••••••• There are so few examples I can think of where I truly enjoyed book two as much as the first and The Hunger Games is a prime example. I loved book two just as much because it had the same tropes I devoured book one for. The games were still going. The arena plot twists were even more creative. The romance was still building. However, in this trilogy, it's book three that falls flat. Even though they try to make attacking the capital a "new arena", the plot falls short. The only investment left is in the characters as the story unwinds to its close. So is that the difference of whether a sequel can emotionally succeed? Does it need enough plot to stand on its own while still honoring the original vibes and tropes of the start? I'm not so sure. Was burning up while on that train to Montauk, yet the only concern was of acceptance for my foolish art, but for someone who reeks of 120 minutes of make-believes, it was only right of you to tear it part by part. Proceeding to live like you never entwined with this skin-like canvas of mine, you bite and sting like a disguised karmic sign. To your failing memory I bid farewell as I fail to fathom its harshness, may you always get touched by tender and fight the weakest of battles is the only wish of your used carcass. With yearnings to grow wiser, I toss this mural at the last of my head’s endless queue, I bellow out this longing each passing night, “My Lacuna, I await for you, I await for you.”
Se séparer de quelqu’un qu’on aime est très difficile et peut être très dur à accepter. Ne pensez jamais qu’une personne qui prend la décision de vous exclure de sa vie prend cette décision facilement. Cela peut être très pesant, parfois même éteindre ses émotions. La seule manière de prendre ces décisions est avec beaucoup de réflexion. Il est important de comprendre qu’une personne qui prend une telle décision ne le fait pas nécessairement parce qu’elle ne vous aime pas, mais plutôt parce que toutes les décisions ne sont pas faciles à prendre, même si elles sont nécessaires pour le bien-être de chacun. Il est crucial de réfléchir à qui nous entoure réellement : sont-ils présents avec nous en toutes circonstances, ou seulement quand cela leur convient ? Il peut être difficile de réaliser qu’on doit s’ajuster au comportement de l’autre, mais il est important de comprendre que si une personne ne peut pas s’ajuster à vos actions ou à votre comportement, c’est parce qu’elle est différente de vous, et non pas parce qu’elle ne veut pas vous devenir. Cela ne signifie pas que votre comportement est mauvais, mais plutôt que chaque personne a besoin de s’aligner avec des individus qui lui ressemblent pour entretenir des relations saines avec elle-même et avec les autres. Il est préférable d’être dans une relation où les deux parties s’investissent pleinement plutôt que de rester dans une relation déséquilibrée où l’un donne beaucoup plus que l’autre. #writingthought
