I cannot count the number of times in my life when “everything went wrong”…then ended up being transformative - A trailhead before me; an opportunity to walk down a path of a new, more authentic life ✨IF✨ I chose to take it. Example: My 11 year job as a children’s therapist in the public school system was eliminated due to budget cuts. I was scared and felt desperate…then decided this was an opportunity to shift my life into a new direction. What if I made my dream come true of incorporating yoga into therapy, teaching other women the tools that had soothed my own soul? Fast forward 8 years later… I own my own business, have served hundreds of women, and finally feel ✨passionate✨ about my life. 🌷When has this happened to you? Please, share below in the comments and give hope and inspiration to another woman who may feel “buried” right now! Peace to you! 💕- Pam . . . #quotesforwomen #inspirewomen #lifetransitions #tulsatherapist #tulsayoga #trailhead #reclaimation #awakening #therapyforwomen #therapyworks #encouraging #loveoverfear

I invite you to celebrate YOU today. Do something that makes you feel soothed and cared for. If that thought feels foreign and confusing to you, here are some ideas: ❤️ Take 5 minutes or more in nature. Go on a gentle walk, sit and listen to the birds, or walk barefoot in soft grass and feel the earth underneath your feet. ❤️ Take time to connect with a loved one who makes you feel warm and safe. This can be a pet if you do not feel like peopling today. ❤️ Make a cup of tea or another warm beverage that tastes delicious to you. Drink it in a mug so you can feel the warmth on your hands. Savor the smell, the taste, the way it feels as you swallow. ❤️ Take a hot bath, then enjoy a self massage with your favorite scented lotion. ❤️ Too antsy for all of the above? Turn on your favorite song and dance your heart out in your living room! Feel the freedom and joy of moving your body and releasing any anxious energy you may be holding inside. ➡️ What else sounds soothing to you today? Please comment below and give other women on this journey new ideas! Peace to you! 💕 Pam . . . #womenempowermentquotes #strongwomanquotes #reparentingyourself #innerchildtherapy #partswork #childhoodtraumahealing #childlessbychoice #motheringthemother #highestself #awakenedwoman #tulsatherapist #traumainformedtherapy #innerchildreparenting #reclaimyourpower #reclaimyourlife

Sometimes you don’t realize how empty your tank is until someone starts filling it up… without you even asking. My little yoga studio had flooded AGAIN, for the second time in one year. I’m also on day 11 of a strict dietary regimen under the guidance of a dietician in attempt to decrease inflammation in my body, and it’s been triggering in multiple ways. All at the same time, Henry was not well and had to undergo some serious and uncomfortable tests. It required me to drop him off at the vet and leave him. We both have a little (okay, A LOT of) separation anxiety. I’ve been powering through work this week, pretty proud of myself of how I’ve been, “managing my anxiety”. Then, someone brought me these beautiful yellow chrysanthemums, and I almost burst into tears. It was such a loving gesture, and I realized a part of me was saying, “Please, I need to be cared for too.” Yes, my anxiety had been managed in the sense that I didn’t have a panic attack or make any rash and desperate decisions. I still exercised, did yoga, ate, and got decent sleep (huge steps from where I was 20 years ago!). But I wasn’t tuning in and acknowledging how hard this all was. The flowers broke down the walls around my emotions and helped them move through. It prompted me to cancel all plans for the evening. If you need me, know I’ll be cuddling with Henry and my partner on the couch, filling back up, and I’ll talk to you Monday ;) ❣️How are YOU taking care of YOU today? Have you ever had an experience like this… Where you are taking care of your body and mind, but forgot about your spirit? Comment below, and let’s learn together ❣️ Peace to you! 💕 - Pam . . . #anxietysucks #traumatherapist #tulsatherapist #therapydogsofig #traumasurvivor #anxietytips #tulsasmallbusiness #goldendoodledaily #meditatedaily #yogatherapist #learntogether #growtogether #healtogether

This photo was hard to share. 1. I am choosing not to show my child’s face on this account because it doesn’t pertain to therapy and we keep things pretty private. 2. This photo feels incredibly vulnerable because of the mental and emotional state I remember being in. We were 6 weeks postpartum and I was struggling. We went through so much medically, physically, and emotionally. So I’m here to say pictures don’t show the full story. And NOW, after healing and some extra training to become a PMH-C, I get to help moms that experience similar struggles realize this isn’t the end. This isn’t your forever. Can you believe this statistic?! 💥1 in 5💥 women suffer from a #maternalmentalhealth disorder & most have difficulty finding help. ✅You never need a diagnosis to ask for help. You are not alone, you are not to blame, and with help, you will be well. @postpartumsupportinternational HelpLine offers support in finding local resources at 800.944.4773. May is here y’all! It’s a big month for maternal mental health and were starting out with a 💥! May 1st is World Maternal Mental Health Day. This is a big deal in our community because bringing awareness helps fight the stigma. We are #strongertogether. ✨When we fight the stigma, more people are aware that their postpartum mental health struggles are valid. ✨When we realize our struggles are valid, we can feel brave enough to ask for help. ✨When we ask for and get the help we need, we start the healing journey. ✨When we start the healing journey, we become the parents we dreamed and hoped we could be. Maybe even better than what we dreamed? Be on the lookout for some fun content I’ll be sharing in the next week as this is just the beginning! Next week is #mmhweek2024 hosted by @thebluedotprj . Anxiety will have you laying in bed at night, going over every word you said, telling yourself stories about how everyone interpreted you. “Oh my gosh, what if when I said ____, she took it like, ____?” For many women, an obsessive fear of not being liked and accepted is fueled by a deeply ingrained belief of, 💔 I’m not good enough. This negative core belief is often developed in childhood when our caregivers are critical, demanding, abusive, or simply do not pay much attention to us. It is a survival instinct for a child to turn this inward and try to figure out what is “ wrong” with them so they can be pleasing to their caregivers. You needed them to survive. ✨You need connection and belonging now, but YOU get to choose your people now!✨ It’s important to be empathetic to these wounded parts of yourself and give them a new measure by which two gauge safety and comfort instead of just, “Did they like me??” Here are some more questions to ask yourself: ➡️ How did they react when I expressed my thoughts and feelings? ➡️ Did I feel safe to express an opinion that may have been different than others? ➡️ Did I leave feeling filled up rather than drained? What else would you add? I hope this helps! Peace to you 💕-Pam . . . #friendshiptips #socialanxietyproblems #anxietysucks #mentalhealththerapy #traumainformedcare #womenempowered #findyourpeople #childhoodtraumarecovery #reparentingyourself #innerchildtherapy #tulsatherapist

Who even is she?? I thought it was time you get to know a little more about this therapist. So here’s some fun things: 🏃‍♀️I can’t sit still. My husband loves this one. NOT. I’m always doing something. ⛳️I enjoy sports on in the background. Give me a good PGA or NFL situation and I’ll happily clean house or take a nap if my toddler lets me! 🛋️I go to my own therapy. Gotta practice what you preach! 🛍️I love filling an online shopping cart and never checking out. 🤱Shower thoughts have now turned into MOTN nursing thoughts. That chair is where I do my best thinking. 🥳I am finally acknowledging and embracing being full-on crunchy. My family laughed and corrected me when I told I thought I was “scrunchy.” But you know what, I’m here for a healthy lifestyle! 🎶There is always a song playing in my head or I’m making up a tune. #tulsatherapist #tulsamoms #oklahomatherapist #parenting

✨New Followers!✨Thank you for being here, and please allow me to introduce myself! ➡️ I’m Pam, mental health therapist, Certified EMDR Clinician, Somatic Parts Work therapist, Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapist, animal lover, adventure seeker, trauma survivor. I struggled with anxiety my entire life before discovering the healing power of yoga and Inner Child Reparenting. My life forever changed when, after experiencing multiple horrific and traumatic losses in my life, I started seeing a therapist who specialized in anxiety. At that time I was having vivid flashbacks and up to five panic attacks a day. My therapist would do breathing exercises with me in session and taught me how to release tension from my body through stretches. Then one day she asked, “Have you ever been to a yoga class?”. I remember walking into the class, terrified and shaking as I carried my little pink yoga mat. But, eventually my body began to soften and my mind began to slow down as I moved and breathed with the instructor. I will never forget this moment when, for about one minute, I felt completely relaxed. It was the first time I had ever experienced complete relaxation in body, mind and spirit. I could sense something monumental just happened to me, something had shifted that would change everything. I remember thinking, “I don’t know what just happened to me in there, but I have to have more of this in my life.” I’ve spent over 20 years researching and incorporating somatic (body based) practices into helping my individual therapy clients, and in my own life! I now own a private therapy practice where I help survivors through yogic practices and Inner Child Reparenting. It’s my mission to have accessible services for people who cannot afford therapy, so I created an online self-study and in-person trauma-informed yoga group program (see “Soothe My Soul” and “Exalted Ease” via link in bio). I adopted Henry, my 11-ish year old goldendoodle, 2 years ago. He is the sweetest, most gentle soul, and he assists me in helping survivors feel safe and comforted. I’m so glad you’re here to join me in this reclamation of your body, mind and spirit! Peace to you! 💕 -Pam

Hey friends, did you know it's National Stress Awareness Month? Stress, especially for moms, is like an uninvited guest that overstays its welcome. It's a natural response to the countless demands of motherhood—balancing family, work, and personal time (or the lack thereof). Our ancestors needed stress reactions to survive dangers, but today's "predators" come in the form of never-ending to-do lists, parenting challenges, financial pressures, and striving for that elusive work-life balance. A bit of stress can motivate us to tackle our day, but when it becomes constant, it can overwhelm even the strongest among us, affecting our health, happiness, and family life. Moms, if you find stress is becoming your shadow, it's crucial to recognize when to take a step back and seek support. Chronic stress isn't just about feeling frazzled; it can lead to burnout, impacting your ability to enjoy motherhood and care for your loved ones. Remember, you’re not alone, and there’s a wealth of strategies and support to manage mom stress. From connecting with fellow moms who get it to finding practical stress-reduction techniques, there's hope and help. Whether you're looking for tips to unwind after a hectic day or need a listening ear, I’m here for you. Together, we can navigate the challenges of motherhood, find our calm amidst the chaos, and rediscover the joy in everyday moments 💕 #NationalStressAwarenessMonth #StressAwareness #MomLife #MotherhoodUnfiltered #MomSupport #MotherhoodAndWellness #SupportForMoms #StressManagementForMoms #JoyfulParenting #EmpoweredMoms #MindfulMotherhood #ConnectAndConquer #MomWellnessJourney #TulsaTherapist #CounsellingServices #TherapyIsCool

To all the new moms, Those first weeks after having a baby can be overwhelming. You might experience feelings of exhaustion, invisibility, sadness, restlessness, physical discomfort, and a sense of being adrift. The pressure to conform to the "snap back" culture might weigh on you, and you may grapple with a mix of love and loneliness. Connecting with your little one might also feel hard. But you will recover. And you don't have to tackle this on your own. It might be a slow journey, but little by little, you'll start feeling better. One day, when you reflect on this time, you'll see the incredible strength within you. If you're wrestling with postpartum depression or anxiety, please, don't hesitate to reach out. PPD is what most call it, but it can happen during pregnancy. The best term is perinatal depression. Let’s learn! Say it with me one more time: A diagnosis doesn’t define me or my future. I don’t need a diagnosis to go to therapy. ❌ If you’re thinking: 😣“I feel like I’m a bad mom.” 😫“This doesn’t feel like me.” 😩“Will I ever feel like myself again?” 📞Let’s talk. Some things that can help + therapy: 🧖‍♀️Try to do all the self-care things like take a shower, brush your teeth, change your clothes that feel like such a feat postpartum. ❔Ask someone to do 1 thing for you. 🚶🏼‍♀️Walk to the mailbox (if you can) and breathe that fresh air. Feel the sun on your face. 🌳Touch the grass. These things likely won’t make everything better, but they can definitely help you move in that direction. 📈 If you feel like you might be struggling with perinatal depression, please reach out to someone. If you’d like to work with me, go to the link in bio and schedule an intro call! My weekly disclaimer for this series: This is purely educational to put the facts out there and dispel any myths or societal beliefs about PMADs. This is not meant to diagnose. “Checking the boxes” doesn’t diagnose. There’s several other things that help identify a diagnosis. Love is messy, marvelous, and definitely doesn't come with a manual. Back in 1992, Gary Chapman, a Baptist minister, shared his insights on love with the world through his book "The 5 Love Languages." Originally stemming from his work with couples in the Baptist community, this concept somehow became everyone's go-to love guide. It's funny how we've all embraced this idea, isn't it? But let's remember, love is more colorful and complex than any one-size-fits-all formula can capture. Our relationships are unique and always evolving - let's celebrate that diversity and depth in how we love and connect! * These posts are designed to provide education to a broad audience. Say it with me: A diagnosis doesn’t define me or my future. I don’t need a diagnosis to go to therapy. Okay, Perinatal Anxiety. (commonly called PPA) I really like sharing about this one because I didn’t know perinatal anxiety was a thing before I had my baby. The more you know! If you’re struggling with perinatal anxiety, things may feel really out of control. You might find yourself trying to control as much as you possibly can. 👉🏻Some worst case scenarios may be going through your mind. 👉🏻You might be exhausted (who isn’t?), but having a really hard time going back to sleep after a nighttime feeding. 👉🏻You might find yourself losing your train of thought a lot of times. The tools I listed feel pretty surface level. The reason I feel this way is this: 🌟therapy is more than just complaining 🌟therapy is finding your solutions 🌟therapy helps you figure out the best change that works for for you If you feel like you might be struggling with perinatal anxiety, let me know and we can schedule a call! 📞 My weekly disclaimer for this series: This is purely educational to put the facts out there and dispel any myths or societal beliefs about PMADs. It’s not only PPD. There are so many other symptoms that perinatal women can experience. I’ll be sharing a little more on some of these diagnoses over the next few weeks AND some ways to cope through them! BUT with learning about diagnoses, I’ve got to put this out there. Just because you check some or all of these boxes does not mean that you are diagnosed. There is so much more that goes into a legitimate diagnosis than checking boxes. ALSO if you do have an official diagnosis, please know that you can heal. There is hope. It’s typically not a forever thing. I’m excited to help you be more informed over the next few weeks! Harry Styles reminds us that embracing the full spectrum of our emotions—joy, pain, laughter, and tears—is what makes us truly alive. Therapy isn't just about finding a way through the dark; it's about learning to live in vivid color. Let's not shy away from seeking help; it's a step towards experiencing life in its richest form. * These posts are designed to provide education to a broad audience. Well, hey there! Some new faces around and some new photos by the great @abbygravesphotography call for a little refresh (here and the website!). I’m Olivia, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I’m here to help you through all the stages of motherhood. Whether that’s pregnancy, postpartum, or years down the road when you realize you’re struggling and want to feel and be a happier parent and partner. I worked to obtain the PMH-C through @postpartumsupportinternational because I wanted to make sure I had a full clinical understanding of PMADs on top of my lived experience. I hope you stick around for some laughs, realizations, and little bits of how to live a more confident and comfortable life! 🍊Joy of an Orange ✨ In a world where it’s so easy to get caught up if societal goals, it’s may be easy to forget the small moments or glimmers of simple joy. Slicing this orange I found myself wowed at just how perfectly beautiful it was. So beautiful that I took a photo and sent it to at least two people. Realistically, this wasn’t a special, photoshopped or digitally created perfect orange - it was a simple orange that grew and was purchased from a store. A simple orange that brought so much joy to that moment in time. Joy that was shared with others. Sometimes it can useful to stop and appreciate the simple moments that life can present us. This simple moment can foster a connection with others, share the joy and realize how overcomplicating life can be. ..ok I’ll stop going on about the orange - but truly it has made my week (Also slices were dehydrated to remember this moment) #tulsa #tulsatherapy #mental #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #tulsatherapist #orange #oklahoma #glimmer #simplicity #connection #joy #thrivestriverevive #nature #mentalhealthsupport
