What more needs to be said than @helene_merc once again demonstrated why she is the one who sets the standard for our lifters. Despite a prep railroaded by hip issues in the final month Helene still lifted to her full capacity for a PB squat. Helene went 165/87.5/187.5 to show it isn’t over till it is over. After having barely squatted or deadlift for around 3 weeks after Raising the Dead Helene showed that strength is just an expression of what you are capable of; if you know you can do it, then you will do it. Too often lifters throw it in early for the tiniest inconvenience and our team is lucky to have someone to demonstrate the importance of belief and finishing what you set out to do. So it was another year and another big trophy for Helene’s trophy cabinet. Helene will begin prep for National’s shortly after a well deserved break and we will see how much further she can push her numbers.

You're going to make mistakes and it's ok.  I'm lucky and fortunate to work with a number of young individuals; many of whom are trying to find their way through life. Many of these young people, who are still truly kids, are so worried about making the perfect decision for their lives. Whether it's education, work, friendships or just setting goals there is a lot of anxiety about making the right decision. If you feel like this and the pressure seems to be mounting just take solace in knowing that you don't need to make the perfect choice every time.  You will make mistakes and in life mistakes are the greatest teacher. In fact inaction due to the fear of getting it wrong is a far bigger issue over time than simply picking wrong. Try to worry less about being perfect and simply try to be. Life is so much more enjoyable when you act and live in the moments you create for yourself. We all have the ability to shape our future but rarely is that journey a straight path. There will be many twists and turns. You will fall down and you will have to pick yourself up time and time again. This is all ok and in fact it's good because you'll only be stronger for it.  Just try to be rather than worrying so much about being right. The opportunities will find you as you act because you'll put yourself in position to succeed, and if by some chance you fail I'm sure you will be surrounded by many people who will help pick you back up and keep going. The confidence to act is so much more important than making the right choice. So just try and you'll probably be shocked at how well things work out.

Good day out for the boys with some big pb totals. @art_by_ed e S 210kg B 110kg D 240kg T 560kg Ryan had an almost flawless day but just got done on some technical issues on his 3rd bench at 115kg. Apart from that he killed it all day. @i.am.timothy.sharp S 175kg B 107.5kg D 217kg T 500kg Timothy started out on a stinker squatting high on his first attempt then shitting the bed on the second attempt and then making the third attempt easy af. Just a dramatic guy I guess, screaming for attention. But after that he got his shit together and crushed the rest of the day with his first 500kg total. Thanks to @slaughterhousegymmelbourne for running a great day, ran very smooth for all the athletes. ... Can't believe how time flies. Second international comp is done and dusted. Come 17 August (Ireland, Dublin - ABS Pro 6) and 7 September (USA, Utah, Salt Lake City - Reach Rumble) , I'll have 4 international meets behind me in 1 year and 1 months time ▪️ But, first I have to say thanks to both & for handling me on the day. The two creeps in the right corner are, simply put, amazing human beings, great friends and awesome handlers. 2nd place was a team effort which I can't be more happy with ▪️ BUT, we're getting tired of 2nd place. That's why for the first time ever I got myself a coach at It's only fitting being an franchise lifter to be coached by as well. Ive been enjoying powerlifting, treating it like a hobby and having fun, but I think it's time we get serious now ▪️ Join me on the next prep towards 17 August (WILKS - knee wraps) & 7 September (TOTAL - knee sleeves). Our mentality towards cardio/conditioning has changed over the years in this sport. The benefits far outweigh just overall health. It's designed to improve the function of the heart so that blood flow is improved, which will allow for more efficient use of oxygen in the blood. This then can lead to - Increased recovery between session - Increased recovery between sets - Decrease/limit body fat increases - Improve immune system (less days are due to illness) - Helps to manage/regulate stress Though we still need to be specific in how we program our conditioning/cardio. Walking/hitting a minimum step count per day is a great place to start for most lifters/people who haven’t been exposed too much conditioning work before.
20-40 minutes low to moderate intensity is more than enough for what we need. Week 30🤰🏼Baby J is still the size of a Winter Squash aka Pumpkin for the next couple of weeks 💙 10 weeks until Baby J’s due date! 👶🏼 What a ride this past week has been 🥴 I’ve had a few very low energy and mental health days but I’m feeling like I’m somewhat on the other side. It’s so hit and miss at the moment especially with having Gestational Diabetes because different foods and even the same foods spike my levels and I feel so lethargic from it. So my focus coming into this week is just to make it through the day and do my best even if it means I need to rest 😅 which is very hard for me because in my mind I need to go for a walk to help my sugar levels and keep moving butttt I also have to listen to my body which is so conflicting 🙃 I’ve also been playing around with my carb choices and intake these past few days and you can see the swelling has come back a bit but it’s like my body doesn’t want to be on the minimum they suggest so I’ll discuss that with them. No updates yet on going on insulin or where I’m giving birth as the Diabetes Educator will be in touch next week to discuss the data I send to them Monday evening. Other than that we are just getting to final things we need to get and stocking up on a couple of tins of formula, nappies and wipes.
