Countries/confederations/cities with their own pavilion were the city of Antwerpen, Belgian Congo, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, the French Colonies, Great Britain, the Hanseatic League (of Germany), Italy, the Netherlands, the city of Paris, Portugal, Sweden and many others. Ensuite il y a Paul Le Gavrian, le fils d'Amedee qui dirige l entreprise à la mort de son père en 1857. Puis, je ne sais pour quelle raison, Paul cède l'entreprise à son ingénieur principal Victor Brasseur en 1881 , qui lui cédera l'entreprise en 1891 à ses gendres Charles et Jean Crepelle.... Et... encore une fois , je ne sais pour quelle raison, l entreprise prend le nom de #JeanCrepelle&Cie dont on peut lire les initiales sur le logo de la photo très #annees20 ! Ce logo fut installé après la reconstruction de l'usine après l'explosion des #18ponts qui détruisit le quartier en 1916. ::: budynki ZUS przed wojną to było coś. Projektowane przez znanych architektów wyróżniały się funkcjonalnością i prostotą formy. Zupełnie w kontrze do tego, co ZUS budował później w latach 90 ubiegłego wieku. Jakiś czas temu pokazywałem budynki ZUS w Gdyni, dzisiaj skupię się na najładniejszym - chyba - kompleksie w Warszawie zaprojektowanym dla ZUS przez Wacława Ryttla i budowanym w latach 1936-1938. Wyróżnia go okrągły narożnik, zburzony w wyniku bobmardowania w 1944 r. (zdjęcie historyczne wrzucam na stories, ale można znaleźć je w serwisie fotopolska.eu). W oryginale budynek pokryty był szlachetnym tynkiem z domieszkiem mikki i ozdobiony siatką liniowania imitującego podziały płyt okładzinowych. W czasie remontu próbowano odtworzyć tynk, ale zastosowano nowoczesną mieszankę, która owszem błyszczy się, ale po całości, a nie tak jak przedwojenna mikka wymieszana z tynkiem. - en: ZUS (Social Insurance Institution) buildings before the war was really something. Designed by well-known architects, they were distinguished by functionality and simplicity of form. Completely in contrast to what ZUS built later in the 90s of the last century. Some time ago I showed ZUS buildings in Gdynia, today I will focus on the most beautiful - probably - complex in Warsaw designed for ZUS by Wacław Ryttel and built in 1936-1938. It is distinguished by a round corner, demolished as a result of bombing in 1944 (I post a historical photo on stories, but you can find it on fotopolska.eu). In the original, the building was covered with noble plaster with an admixture of mica and decorated with a line grid imitating the divisions of cladding plates. During the renovation, attempts were made to recreate the plaster, but a modern mixture was used, which, yes, shines, but all over, and not like the pre-war mica mixed with plaster. - architekt: inż.-arch. Kirche am Hohenzollernplatz (1933) at Berlin Wilmersdorf by architects Ossip Klarwein and Fritz Höger. A fine example of German style Brick Expressionism. - Soon after its completion, Jewish architect Klarwein and his family emigrated to Mandatory Palestine to escape the Nazi takeover of Germany. - The church was heavily bombed during the WWII by allied forces, causing huge damage. After the war, reconstruction proceeded gradually until completed in 1965. - Although Google told me that the church was open at the time of my arrival, it wasn’t. I tried every door, rang some bells, even called the church but to no avail. Which is a shame because the interior is spectacular as well. This is the town hall of the city of Oberhausen in the Ruhr region of Germany built from 1927 to 1930 according to plans by architects and municipal building officials Ludwig Freitag and Eduard Jüngerich. The massive structure combines elements and influences of brick expressionism and New Objectivity / Neues Bauen. Due to its exposed location on a hill – which is called “Galgenberg” by those familiar with the area – the complex corresponds with the Grillopark, which can be reached via various terraces. Building and park are considered to be a “Gesamtkunstwerk”. The nickname “Galgenberg” comes from the fact that people were sentenced to death on that hill in the past, including gallows in the exact same spot. The two sculptures made of (shell-bearing) limestone (German: “Muschelkalk”) were designed by Adam Antes. Two other sculptures by Leopold Fleischhacker have been destroyed during World War II. Het schilderwerk vond ik te slordig uitgevoerd. ….de weken erna groeide het gevoel van spijt, ik had een verkeerde beslissing genomen…. Mijn gedachte was dat ik eenzelfde (en dan beter uitgevoerd) exemplaar wel een andere keer zou kopen. Maar die keer kwam maar niet en de jaren verstreken… Dankzij een goede verzamelvriend heb ik het model dan nu eindelijk… maar … ook dit exemplaar is slordig geschilderd en zelfs fors beschadigd!
