May 7, 2024 // Gratitude I wanted to share my grateful and my glimmer today. This tree in my backyard makes me so happy. Every year in May it reminds me of hope. It reminds me that we can bloom again. It reminds me that we can survive the brutal blows of winter and come back flourishing. It reminds me that it’s okay to pause, rest, and give up our glory for a season but that renewal is waiting for us on the other side. Three years ago in May, my son was about to graduate from high school and I had just survived being in DKA and I found myself in a life that I no longer recognized. It was a life that I’m still learning to live, a new normal with a T1D diagnosis and days filled with insulin injections to keep me alive. Three years later, my baby girl is about to graduate from high school. I look at this tree and see hope and I cling to that hope that we can get through all the seasons of life one way or another. And we can bloom right where we are planted. We can bloom in any story. We can pivot and change the story. We can’t always start over but it’s never too late to start where you are, rewrite the story and bloom again. In a few weeks this tree will look completely different. I might look different. Life might be different. A new chapter will be being written. I gave her the last T-shirt he wore when he went into the hospital and another shirt he liked to wear. Two jingle bells from his Santa suit were also added. The Bear as a Spirit Animal, is a source of support during difficult times, provides strength, courage, and a stable foundation to face challenges, inspires respect and admiration, represents solitude and provides a grounding force. I Shaman traditions it symbolizes healing abilities . This Spirit Bear was uniquely created for me with a powerful intention to bring me love, comfort and connection.
