Our homemade telera rolls were put to good use. First we did a vegan chopped cheese (recipe from @thee_burger_dude ), then a "cold cut" sandwich with roasted veggies and cucumber cashew ranch (recipe from @dereksarno ) and, last but never least, soy curl carne asada tortas (another winner from @thee_burger_dude that we keep on repeat). One thing about me I train hard and I’m going to EAT! I’ve learned a lot this last year about body Recomp and how to fuel my body before, during & after! I know I’m losing fat not muscle and there is such a huge difference! I’m happy in my cut if I lose 2 lbs a month. I know it’s fat my body is showing it also! My best batch of homemade bagels yet, despite turning off the oven when I put them in and not noticing for 20 minutes 😂 For the cream cheese, I heated up one cup of light cream, one cup of whole milk, one cup of plain milk kefir, and then vinegar for curdling. EALING HALF MARATHON 🥇🏃🏾♂️🌱 June 1st 2023 I ran my second ever 5km distance - it was painful and took me over 27 minutes 🥵 @runningonplants1 got me running and now I’ve gone and ran my first ever race - the Ealing Half Marathon 🙌🏽 My plan was to aim for sub 2 hours, get as close to 1:50 as possible - respectable for a first time half however when I got to the starting line and saw the 1:40 and 1:50 pacers I thought let’s push for sub 1:50 💪🏽 Ended up running at a very respectable 1:48:40 😁 Strava says 1:47:41 though 👀 With some tough inclines and running this hard in @vivobarefoot trails on concrete and managed not to get injured although at mile 6 I thought I might have done my left calf…we’ll find out tomorrow 😂 Thank you @akashvaghela and @tombridgescoaching for inspiring me and pushing me. Thanks @_soyhulk_ for putting up with my nonsense. Fresh yeast has a higher (the highest of all yeast states), moisture content. It also has the shortest shelf life. Blocks require refrigeration and last only 2-3 weeks. We can thank Fleischmann laboratories in the USA for inventing dry yeast. This was so infantrymen in WWII could bake fresh bread at their camps. No fridge needed, longer shelf-life. Les français were not about to let ze Americans have all the fun, in the 1970s French manufacturer Lesaffre invented instant yeast. Instant yeast ferments faster and unlike dry yeast, does not require activation. You can just pour it into your dough and off you go. Lower moisture content and a vacuum-sealed package mean these can last 2 years unopened 😱! Instant yeast is the stuff you would want to use in your bread machines if you have one of those. The bottom line is this, bread lovers, if you bake, experiment with your bread-baking and do what works for you. Only the fresh yeast will give you that subtle yeasty aroma – the dry stuff just can’t compete. We say to use 1/2 the amount of active dry yeast for fresh yeast – we are referring to weight measurements, of course. If using instant yeast, you’ll need a little less.
