Así que sí, el libro no ha defraudado a mis expectativas. 👑 Me ha gustado mucho que en este último la utora haya decidido enfocarse un poco más en darnos datos sobre el romance, compaginándolo, casi que a partes iguales con todo el conflicto político. 👑 Y qué decir de Cardan... me tiene enamorada. Me encanta en que le hayan dado un por qué y que se hayan ido desvelando secretos y comportamientos de su pasado. 👑 Mientras que en el anterior libro vimos más los lazos de Jude con Madoc, en este hemos podido ver una reconciliación con su hermana gemela, Taryn. Hi all! 👋🏻 Today is duology celebration Wednesday! After finishing @miasheridanauthor’s Acadia duology, I thought back to the amazing two-parters I’ve read! 🙌🏻 @amy.harmon.author’s Bird and the Sword Chronicles is one of the best and well-written fantasy series I’ve read. She took a simple concept — the biblical power of words — and crafted a series full of magic, flying, and twists. @blackholly’s Stolen Heir duology told Oak’s story and for a more obscure character in the “Cruel Prince” world, it was great to see his arc and personality uncovered for the reader to get lost in. I felt like the second book in particular delivered. 🫅🏼 I entered the Narrows and pirates world with @adrienneyoungbooks’ Fable duology. I loved Fable and West’s story of romance, gems, found family, and the repairing of broken relationships. It was well-thought out and crafted. Also I just personally love the idea that even though Cardan is the faerie, it’s human Jude who has him entirely in her thrall. The Faeries hate the mortals and the mortals hate the Faeries because of course they believe themselves to be above humans. Because of this very reason Jude wants power, she wants to become a part of the Court of Faerie. How will she achieve that, read to find out! Personally, I am not too much of a fantasy reader so I can say that this is a perfect fantasy for beginners. It’s not complex world building but the descriptions are very elaborate and nicely done which I really loved. Also, this is a series, namely ‘Folk of the Air’ and has two other parts to it which I will be reading asap!! I also really liked the characters, each one of them had their own personality. It is also not your usual romance, there isn’t much of it in this book. I really enjoyed The Stolen Heir, but The Prisoner’s Throne was the true star. I absolutely loved getting Oak’s POV and thought it was the perfect way to tell this story. Also the Jude and Cardan cameo’s were everything! There’s a Q&A with Holly Black in the B&N edition where Holly says Jude still has some story left and she’s not done with Elfhame yet. It's been all over Instagram that made me buy it and I have not been disappointed. Holly Black did such an amazing job one must say. THE MOST important aspect of this book is, whenever I read a fantasy genre, I haven't got the equal ratio of romance x fantasy but THIS is the absolute series for both the romance and fantasy. I should mention here that U WILL NOT BE HOOKED BY THE FIRST BOOK. When I started reading The Cruel Prince, I really got bored by the first half and even decided to give up on the book cuz the first half only contains the introduction of the fairy world, the characters and all that but the second half picks up the story and compensation for the lost first half so plz read it to all the books of the series. The character's development is just top notch where you wouldn't even realise how much the characters have been grown throughout the series. There are many unexpected twists, riddles, events which would keep you connected to the characters and the story for so long even after you are done with the book. In short, I would suggest this series to those who are all suckers for fantasy, romance, Strong female lead and slow burn kind of plots. 3.5/5 ⭐ So after seeing a lot of hype, I gave the folk of the air series a chance, and I have to admit, it just didn't quite hit the spot for me 🥺 Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate it had some good parts and the romance element between Jude/Carden was 🔥I could go as far as to say Carden is one of my favourite characters EVER, (The letters tho 😭) but unfortunately the fantasy element of the story for me, just wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be. Creo que tiene potencial para convertirse en una de mis sagas favoritas. En The Cruel Prince tenemos a nuestra protagonista, Jude, una humana que tras ver cómo sus padres son asesinados se ve forzada a vivir en Faerie junto a sus hermanas y el asesino de sus padres. Jude se ve marginalizada por ser humana pero aún así desea ser parte de ese mundo, ganarse un lugar en la corte, cueste lo que cueste. Los personajes de este libro me encantaron, amo mucho a Cardan y Jude 😭. La historia es hiper atrapante y te tira unos plot twist que jamás te ves venir. Es muy interesante el personaje de Cardan, ver cómo es moralmente gris. También me gusta mucho la personalidad de Jude, ella no se deja pisotear, se defiende, y es capaz de hacer cualquier cosa con tal de lograr su cometido. Me gusta que es distinta sin caer en el cliche insoportable de "no soy como otras chicas". También me gustaron algunos personajes secundarios como Madoc, Vivi y Oak (y odie a otros como Taryn y Locke).
