I picked up The Silverblood Promise after finishing People We Meet on Vacation, and it's the first epic fantasy I've picked up in ages and not immediately put back down. I haven't had the attention for them lately. When I saw the blurb for The Dead Saint, I expected it to be a typical fantasy with an anti-hero, a feisty heroine and a typical storyline that I’d likely seen before and loved and would most probably love again. But. BUT. Oh. My. God. But The Dead Saint is truly like no other book I’ve ever read before. Possibly like no other book you’d read after this. TDS hits the floor running in the most brutal and heartbreaking way. The world-building in this book is consistent and extends ’til the very last page; and the world that Trattner has created is so very different from anything I’d ever read before. The plot of TDS is really clear from page one. However, with every chapter that unravels, you see more and more. The author has incorporated many aspects into this book that are entangled with the plot. The deeply emotional aspects, the physically gruelling aspects, the mentally strenuous elements and all this braided neatly into the fabric of the larger plot. The book was a sucker-punch to every one of my senses. Four stars! Check trigger warnings as always! WOW. WOW. WOW. . So, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve done like an *actual* review (sorry, life ya know?) and I honestly have to try to come back to doing it with this absolutely AMAZING book!! . Five Broken Blades by Mai Corland obviously gets 5 whole stars ✨ . Quick synopsis (mostly taken from the actual synopsis): It’s the season for treason and the King of Yusan must die. 5 skilled killers including an exiled prince, a slave trying to earn freedom, and a killer for hire each have a reason for wanting the King dead. But can they form an alliance between 5 liars to reach their ultimate goal? After all, only one can wear the crown. . . We follow multiple POVs in this story and I loved EVERY 👏🏻 SINGLE 👏🏻 ONE 👏🏻 I was never confused and I loved all of the characters! With multiple POVs, I usually find myself confused and/or only really enjoying maybe one or two of them. I would usually find myself rushing to get to the character I’m actually enjoying. Sound familiar to you? Not with this book! 🎉🙌🏻 . I honestly feel like a broken record singing praises for this book. The writing was phenomenal and the plot was *chef’s kiss* 🤌🏻 . I honestly didn’t see how the ending would turn out and felt like the last 20-30 pages I was just constantly screaming (sometimes externally) with my mouth hanging open 😂 . The present: Mel’s life is the Babbling Brook Bed and Breakfast in Pine Cove, owning it with her family, living onsite, and being responsible for day-to-day operations. Liam owns a contracting company, so he visits the B&B periodically to take care of needed maintenance. The surprises: I put forth 2 names. Poppy Phillips and Grandma O’Rourke. Talk about surprises! I can’t wait until you meet them! I loved this cozy! The setting of the B&B, the characters that include Mel’s friend’s dog Chewbarka or Chewie for short that takes advantage of escape possibilities, and the delightful sprinkling of humor throughout the storyline. Mel’s acrophobia and the different ways explored to cope with her phobia was well-written. It not only gave depth to her character but was meaningfully layered as an integral part of the storyline. The way I inhaled this book…omg. The tension and chemistry between Lenna and Conrad…love it! Their banter is great. This book features such a range of emotions because it starts off with a tragic beginning and shows how the characters cope, process, and heal over time. Their love story is beautiful and I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2. QOTD: Is there an animal you’re scared of? AOTD: I mean… snakes are pretty scary 😭. 🐍 A big shout out to @entangled_publishing and @missrikireading for hosting a read-along and providing me with a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review! When Entangled hosts a read-along you can safely presume I’m going to sign up, no matter what’s happening. When I read the blurb of Last of the Talons by @sophiekimwrites I knew I had to read this book. Also to me, the girl on the cover looked so much like Han So-hee so I gleefully imagine her as Shin Lina nearly the whole time. Or whenever I remembered. Anyway, that being said, I think Last of the Talons has one of the more heartbreaking narratives I’ve read. The tone of the book—set by the voice of the FMC whose perspective the book runs in—has a hardened, bleak, gritty perspective to it. It reads a little like (tonally, speaking) K. S. Villoso’s The Wolf of Oren-Yaro. I loved every interaction between the main characters in Last of the Talons. The ebb and flow of their connection from the very moment they meet to the last page was emotionally satisfying, thrilling and you’re waiting to see what’s coming next. The pace was fantastic, it never lets up and keeps us glued to the pages. The chapters are all short, ranging between 1 to 9 minute reads (based on my reading speed). They’re to the point and pack a punch. Just perfect 🤌🏻✨. Five stars! Last of the Talons will always hold a special place in my heart. Quite engaging writing, as I was hooked from the first chapter. This is a Norse/Viking romance fantasy that had me hooked by page one! I have never read a fantasy book that was inspired by Norse mythology and it was so unique and good! The author kept it clear and concise with the Gods so I didn’t get confused bc Norse mythology is very complex! Freya is the main FMC who knows how to hold her own! I love how she speaks her mind and doesn’t hold her tongue even though it might get her in trouble. I also loved how she was a warrior and never wanted to let down her family or people even though in reality they didn’t deserve her 😆 Bjorn was the perfect MMC in my opinion! He is a badass warrior and super protective. He does what is right no matter what! Plus he is a tattooed, tall, dark, and handsome man, so who wouldn’t love him 🥵 the things he said had me going feral and I love the mysterious side to him! I can’t wait to learn more about him and his past! Plus, Freya and Bjorn’s banter and tension was just *chef’s kiss* amazing!! It was definitely a slow burn forbidden romance but their relationship was perfect the entire book! This book really had it all! It had battle, blood, gore, tension, angst, spice, comedy, Gods, mythology, mystery, magical elements and even some dark components! I loved the LOTR vibes I was getting throughout the book too! The author really did a good job of bringing everything together to make a fast paced book that keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time! I will say, I found one part of the ending predictable, but that isn’t a fault of the book. I think it’s because I read so much fantasy I get used to the high stakes and some of the similar story lines, but I loved the twist at the end and I cannot wait to see where this saga goes! If you need a Viking themed, enemies to lovers, warrior book, AFIIB is for you! I highly recommend it! 🪓🔥🗡️

This was so fast! So many twists and turns and things happening all the time but I did enjoy my time while reading this book. It's insta-love but it works, even with all the action that was constantly happening. I also really liked the sidekick characters, they brought a lot of good humor into this. Thank you @revellreads for my #gifted copy of the first book in the Gossamer Falls Series by Lynn Blackburn, Never Fall Again. I just loved this story from the very first chapter to the very last. The characters in small town Gossamer Falls will grab a hold of your heart as you read through the story. What I loved was the well paced action and suspense in this book, you keep on guessing who is behind all the mysterious and devastating crimes. Our main protagonists Landry and Cal slowly open up to each other, taking another chance at falling in love again after both reveal heartbreak and trauma. Loved all the family introduced and it left me looking at the family tree multiple times while reading the book, three main families, many, many connections. Loved the small town feels that the author was able to portray, a place where everyone watches out for everyone, no matter what feud or misunderstanding tries to sneak in the way. Strong, faith driven, genuine adults who care about each other shines through on the pages. I can’t wait to read the next books and escape to Gossamer Falls once again. I’m interested in MO’s story, and what becomes of The Haven. Well written story that anyone who enjoys romantic suspense, would love this story. I loved this one. I loved Last Call at the Local and I was determined to go back and read the first two, and it was the right choice! I’m already excited about the next one - seeing Nina and Ollie before and after has been so good I KNOW their book is going to be great! 🛥️ This was one heavy! It deals with grief and how it looks on different people and how hard it is to feel so much but also like you don’t deserve to feel as much as you do. I thought it was written SO well. Watching Jo grieve her nephew and then having her nieces come and stay with her and her tip toeing around them because she doesn’t want to upset them when in reality they ALL should be talking about it but none of them know how because it’s just HARD - it was done so well. 🛥️ And Alex and Greyson were such a good addition to the story! Greyson needed Mia and Kitty just as much as they needed her. And ALEX AND JO!! They were FANTASTIC. It was tough, their little miscommunications but it also made perfect sense for where they both were emotionally. 🛥️ It was just SO GOOD!! I cannot wait to keep reading everything and anything Sarah writes!!
