Please join us on Friday May 10th at 5:30pm at SOMOS Bookshop in Taos, NM. Cynthia Jurs author of ā€˜Summoned by the Earth: Becoming a Holy Vessel for Healing Our Worldā€™ will be joined by @mirabaistarr. The most pressing question in these uncertain times may well be, How can we bring healing and protection to the Earth? It was this very question that @cynthiajurs carried with her in 1990 as she climbed a path high in the Himalayas, to meet an ā€œold wise man in a caveā€ā€”a venerated lama from Nepal. In response to her question, the old lama gave her a formidable assignment based on an ancient practice from Tibet: she must procure earth treasure vases made of clay and potent medicines, fill them with prayers and symbolic offerings, and bury them around the world where healing is called for. Thus begins the journey of a lifetimeā€”sometimes harrowing, but always shining with beauty at the threshold between urgency and the timelessness of the sacred. In Summoned by the Earth we accompany this passionate and creative Buddhist teacher, as she attempts to fulfill the daunting task. Ultimately, the path from the wise manā€™s mountain cave winds around the world, bringing Cynthia into relationship with elders, activists, diverse ecosystems and communities. One by one, as the humble clay pots are planted in the Earth, the power of an ancient technology of the sacred comes alive and a global community grows to protect the Earth and learn how to become vessels of healing. As many of us wonder what we can do in this eleventh hour, Summoned by the Earth offers a riveting account of one womanā€™s response to the challenges we face, and is an irresistible invitation to become ā€œsacred activistsā€ heeding the call of the Earth. Under A White Sky by Elizabeth Kolbert. I really enjoy Kolbertā€™s intelligent essays. Unlike some climate authors Iā€™ve tried to read, Kolbert writes about humanityā€™s impact upon nature in a most engaging, informative, and non-alarmist way. āļøāļøāļøāļø - Iā€™m a little late posting this, but I recently finished an ARC of Life After! I really liked this book (see full review below) and Iā€™m so excited for my physical copy to come in the mail! Also Goodreads didnā€™t have a pic of the book, so I borrowed this graphic from the author! Thank you to Book Sirens and the author for an ARC of Life After! I absolutely loved this book! The overarching climate change theme was a stark reminder that unless we drastically change our direction, this could become a reality for us. Regarding the characters, I really enjoyed how each person was fleshed out and how their skills ultimately added to the group. The only thing I found a little confusing at first was the timeline changes between each group of characters, but once I was used to the change, it wasnā€™t so bad to keep up. Overall, I loved the dynamics between each group of survivors and how they ultimately help each other in the end (even in the face of heartbreak). This was a great YA debut for this author, and Iā€™m so excited to see what projects come in the future for her! -M

A few days ago was Earth Day, so here is a post (a bit late) with some recommendations for anyone who is looking to learn a bit more about the climate crisis. The climate crisis is one of the biggest threats we face while also being a trigger for many conflicts. The climate crisis has many dimensions, and as a whole, we are far from reaching the climate goals. I believe there is power in knowledge, so I hope you pick up some of these recommendations; hopefully, it can inspire you to act or gain a nuanced and intersectional view of environmentalism. Please, if you have any book recommendations, do leave them in the comments šŸ«¶šŸŒ± Low-key, this was also an excuse to share this song I have been listening to non-stop the past few days šŸ¤ #environmentalscience #environmentalism #earthday #climatechangebooks #climatechange #nonfictionbooks #ecofiction #solarpunk #bookrecommendations #bookish #bookblogger #tbrpost #bookstagram

It was such a pleasure to collaborate with Susan on her thought-provoking novel. šŸ» šŸŒŽļøBook Review: Bondi & Poppy Help Heal the Planet by Judith A. Proffer and illustrated by Yoko Matsuoka šŸØ šŸŒļø Earth Day may be over but the fight to save the planet continues on! Also Arbor Day is this Friday! Join your community in planting trees to save the Earth! Special thanks to @BookPublicityServices for providing a gifted copy. Are you looking for a globally inspired climate change and environmental awareness book for a read aloud? Check out Bondi & Poppy Help Heal the Planet by Judith A. Proffer and illustrated by Yoko Matsuoka. The two most cuddliest and cute snugglebugs, a koala and a bear, have teamed up to talk about keeping their homes safe. Using rhyming, Bondi & Poppy starts with the similarities in the habitats of the koala (Australia) and the bear (California). It also shares the similar environmental dangers that each faces due to climate change, like wildfires. The illustrations demonstrate what the global community could do if they worked together to keep the planet healthy. Seeing the connection between the koala and the bear will help kids see that the experience of one is not necessarily isolated. šŸØšŸ»Educator Tips For Engaging ReadersšŸØšŸ» Here are some post-reading ideas: āœ… A great activity to try with your kiddos, is to have them make a checklist of actions they find in the book. Then you can discuss how you might go about as a family or class community to accomplish those tasks. šŸŒ³ Arbor Day is coming up on April 26. Share information and participate in planting a tree in your community as part of taking care of your planet. This ties into the main characters who as animals both rely on trees in their habitats. šŸ—ŗļø If you live in a state other than California, draw a map together and illustrate it with famous things your state is known for that you want to protect. Pay special attention to the wildlife in your state. Explore and learn about climate change ā™»ļø Develop a recycling system in your home and work together as a family to reduce the amount of trash you produce. #BondiandPoppyHelpHealthePlanet #EarthdayBooks #childrensbooks #ArborDay #ClimateChangeBooks #SavethePlanet #cocoawithbooks #earthmonth

Happy first birthday to The Nature of Reading storefront! šŸ„³ It was so wonderful to see so many of you on Saturday for the Earth Day party and to read countless kind notes from members of our community. I couldnā€™t be happier with all that weā€™ve built together in the past yearā€”everyday I marvel at how lucky I am to have so many wonderful readers visit the shop and join us at our events. Iā€™ve made so many friends throughout this wild, wonderful experience, only reaffirming that beneath the beauty of nature, books, and creativity, we are nothing without community šŸ’ššŸŒŽšŸ“– As I was looking back to include a picture from Earth Day for the last two yearsā€”2023 when I opened the storefront, and 2022 when I launched my online and eventually pop-up shopā€”I was shocked to see in my photos from 2022 a quick picture I snapped of myself in what came to be **my storefront**! Me, on Earth Day, April 22nd 2022, waiting in line for a tea in the bubble tea shop at 22 Main Street, getting a treat for me and Mario to celebrate launching my business. That very first day I was here, in the same place that I would sign a lease for less than a year later, in the same place where Iā€™d open my storefront on Earth Day 2023, and in the same place where on Earth Day in 2024, Iā€™d reflect on how lucky I am to be surrounded by the most wonderful community that anyone could ask for. Be it fate, synchronicity, or pure happenstance, I canā€™t help but feel that it was meant to be šŸ’š Thank you all for accompanying me on this journey to celebrate all the endless wonders of nature, reading, creativity, and community. šŸ’š Swipe for pictures from 2024, 2023, and 2022 āœØ #books #bookstore #bookshop #booklover #booknerd #bibliophile #popupbookstore #bookclubs #newbookclub #bookclub #newbookstore #mybookstore #bookstoreowner #womanownedbusiness #smallbusiness #shoplocal #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #climatechange #naturebooks #climatechangebooks #ecofriendly #sustainable #sustainability #environment #nature #naturelover #madisonnj #morriscountynj #earthday

PowrĆ³cił do mnie mĆ³j ulubiony stan czyli gigantyczny gÅ‚Ć³d literatury faktu! Let the adventure begin šŸ”„ .

Emily R. with an audiobook (that took me quite a long timeā€¦) This Changes Everything by Naomi Klein: 4 āļø This nonfiction tome digs deep into climate change vs. capitalism - how we got here and how we can get out (as much as possible). The writing is rich and beautiful (swipe for some of my favourite passages), the prose are elegant and descriptive, the settings are so well written that itā€™s hard to pull yourself out of the forest and back into real life. The characters through this lengthy family saga are all so well fleshed out, which is surprising both considering how many characters there are and how many timelines it cascades through. The characters are somewhat unlikeable, but I felt my heartstrings pulled for them all just the same. I canā€™t fit this book into just one category. Itā€™s lit fic, itā€™s sort of crimey, itā€™s dystopian, with a heavy focus on climate change and the impact of trees on all life. Itā€™s perfect. :)

Prepping for this Sunday's event by reading up on Eric Holthaus' "The Future Earth" and finding it fascinating. Reads like fiction! An imaginative ride into the future! In contrast to the dystopian take of so many current climate fiction/nonfiction books, this one takes a very optimistic look at what a future earth could look like if we implemented radical solutions on the scale of the crises we face. What could happen if we reduced carbon emissions by 50 percent in the next decade? What could living in a city look like in 2030? How could the world operate in 2040, if the proposed Green New Deal created a 100 percent net carbon-free economy in the United States? Join us as we check in with Eric Holthaus on how the predictions match up to the last few years and what to expect for the near future! Should be a fascinating conversation! #FutureEarthEvent #EarthDayPanel #ClimateSolutions #STEMBookstore #FutureEarthBook #ClimateChangeDiscussion #AuthorPanel #ClimateActionNow #authorevent #EarthDay2024 #ClimateChangeBooks #STEMforEarth #ClimateLiterature #SustainableFuture #ClimateAuthors #ClimateScience #STEMandClimate #EarthDayCelebration #ClimateSolutionsPanel #FutureEarthDiscussion #ClimateChangeAwareness

I definitely enjoyed reading/listening to The Light Pirate. A speculative fiction book about climate change, the plot is a warning to humanity to take better care of our planet. I loved the authorā€™s writing style and her ability to write characters who felt genuine and flawed was excellent. Big shout out to Phyllis as my favorite character in the book! While I am well aware of the damage we are doing to the planet, with a hard green lean politically, I realize now I have not really considered what our future could look like if we continue to disregard the warnings weā€™ve been given. This is a stark read about how quickly our infrastructure and society could fall. While I appreciated the content, I did not always enjoy the spoonfed political views and magical realism. I think the setting and plot would have stood on its own without the overt viewpoints and the occasional ā€œmagicā€. The ending was also maybe not my favorite. It was a little too neat and kumbabaya. It didnā€™t feel consistent with the rest of the novel. Despite my gripes, I really did enjoy the writing and the characters and I felt it was a solid 4 star read! I look forward to reading more books by Lily Brooks-Dalton! āļøāļøāļøāļø Fair warning, 85% of this book is painfully tragic with a very small portion with a hopeful vibe. At Home On A Changing Planet, by Madeline Ostrander: To properly express my feelings about this book, it only felt right to bring it out to the wild; right away, nature (in the form of this pesky, persistent fly) responded immediately. The terrain pictured was once an ocean, vast and deep; today, it is green and bright, often dry as a bone, and so full of shell fossils, it is literally called Fossil Hill. Am I even attempting to restrain myself from subjecting my dear Bookstagram from my unadulterated love of science? No. Why would I? This is a book I checked out from the library after seeing it on some corner of the internet, and I was ENGROSSED. Ostrander covers 4 case studies in climate disaster: the receding arctic tundra (Alaska),raging mega-wildfires (Washington state), the sinking land and floods (Florida),and the toxic fallout from big oil companies (California). In each chapter, people of all walks of life confront, in real time, unimaginable disaster as it becomes their (and collectively, our) new day-to-day. You read of people having-some choosing, most forced-to rise to the occasion, again and again. Certainly this cannot be a book of naĆÆvetĆ©; we cannot pretend that the seas arenā€™t heating or that the ground is not receding. But, Ostrander expertly gives voice to the ways in which ordinary folks are making changes, living their lives, and fighting for a fair future. Remarkably, this gives me a spark of hope so desperately needed. I am deeply affected by every disaster covered in this book: I am a native Floridian, with lasting roots in that sinking swampland. I am a current resident of Northern California, close to the oil refineries mentioned and of course no stranger to the havoc of wildfire season. Amazingly, this book taught me new pieces of my own history: Fort Mose, a bustling town founded by a free Black man in St. Augustine FL, when the Spanish still claimed it. I learned of the great work of various local organizations here in CA. And, I left with a fighting spirit to face the next, inevitable disaster with a will to take a stand. 4.5/5 stars, bought my own copy! #bookreview

Please join us on Friday May 10th at 5:30pm at SOMOS Bookshop in Taos, NM. Cynthia Jurs author of ā€˜Summoned by the Earth: Becoming a Holy Vessel for Healing Our Worldā€™ will be joined by Mirabai Starr. The most pressing question in these uncertain times may well be, How can we bring healing and protection to the Earth? It was this very question that Cynthia Jurs carried with her in 1990 as she climbed a path high in the Himalayas, to meet an ā€œold wise man in a caveā€ā€”a venerated lama from Nepal. #taosnm #taos #somosbookstore #somostaos #summonedbytheearth #cynthiajurs #ecospirituality #ecodharma #buddhism #buddhistbooks #ecomindfulness #climatechange #climatechangebooks #gaia #mirabaistarr

For #Sundaybedtimestory today, I'm sharing two recommendations perfect for #readforearthmonth (and all year) that focus on hopeful stories linked to the climate and how we can protect and sustain our planet. They'd also make a great addition to the classroom as they both contain short stories that would be perfect for little pockets of reading time. [Ad-PR] šŸ“˜Rewild the World at Bedtime āœļøEmily HawkinsšŸ–ŒElla Beech šŸ“š @wideeyededitions I love anything written by @emilyhawkinsbooks and these beautifully illustrated stories are no exception. Lie back and listen to real life tales from around the world, showing the wonderful ways that nature has restored itself with a little help and care from humans. Wolves return to Yellowstone, Beavers to British rivers, a bee highway is created in Norway and the Costa Rican forests are rewilded. It really is the stuff of dreams! [Ad-PR] šŸ“— Future Hopes āœļø10 authors of short stories edited by Lauren James foreword by Nicola Davies šŸ“š @walkerbooksuk Skyscraper farms, guerrilla gardening, insects for dinner and much more... Nine brilliant authors explore solutions to the climate crisis and present hopeful, interesting and thought provoking questions about the future in this compilation of short stories. Further discussion as to how these fictional creations are rooted in fact, are discussed further in the excellent editorial notes after each story. I love the hopeful and inspiring messages in both books, showing that real change is possible: a real tonic to the dystopian visions of the future we are often presented with, which there is a definite need to face, but not right before bed! Do check out Andrea's stories @educa8wirral to see what everyone else is reading. šŸ“– it's been refreshing to review 'The Story Is In Our Bones', a book which talks about the #ClimateCrisis not by dwelling on numbness-provoking facts and the dire situation we are in, but by actively promoting hope and continuously amplifying indigenous and marginalized voices. the author creatively but honestly addresses patriarchy, economic failures, extractivism, capitalism, colonization, and racism, all in relation to shaping a path for climate justice and remembering our interconnectedness to Earth. there lies great power in storytelling and sharing the lived experience of those standing on the frontlines of land protection, activism and civil disobedience. it is not just about what we are doing, but also why and how. šŸ›āœØšŸ¦‹ a great book if you are looking to read something for #EarthMonth (April). šŸŒŽšŸŒšŸŒšŸ’š thank you @bookpublicityservices for sending me a copy šŸ™šŸ¼

ā€œWhen heat comes, itā€™s invisible. It doesnā€™t bend tree branches or blow hair across your face to let you know itā€™s arrivedā€¦. The sun feels like the barrel of a gun pointed at you.ā€ The Heat Will Kill You First is in the top 5 nonfiction I have EVER read. Should be required reading if you live on Earth. I literally cannot stop talking or thinking about this incredible book. Heat kills more and more people every year, but we pay attention less because itā€™s not a distinct weather event or natural disaster. Rising heat contributes to now seasonal wildfires, less snow in the Northern Hemisphere, melting icebergs in Antarctica, migrating disease vectors and massive impacts on food production. Furthermore, as the human population becomes increasingly urban, cities struggle to deal with heat as a health and social justice issue. Swipe for table of contents. Jeff Goodell is a genius journalist, combining gripping storytelling, accessible scientific explanations, and comprehensiveg reporting and research. Yes, this book was terrifying, but I needed the wake up call, having grown a bit complacent in both care for my own family in this issue, and in action on behalf of the planet. I never found the book to be shaming or fatalistic in tone, but instead the author trusts the reader to be intelligent and make their own conclusions, while remaining factual and even optimistic. Excellent on audio. āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø/5 obviously What is the highest temperature you have ever experienced? It was 120 once when I was staying in Vegas. Lately I have been [obsessively] interested in the politics of things that cause societal harm such as climate change, misinformation and attention, both as stand alone phenomena but also how the three intersect to create propaganda. [There are so many books I have shelved to read on this, stay tuned] This book is a collection of articles done by Inside Climate News, about Exxonā€™s early research into climate science, and how the company turned against the findings of their research when it suited it. Exxon, alongside many other corporations within the fossil fuel industrial complex, has done a lot to discredit the scientific consensus on climate change, claiming that the science is uncertain, and even if it wasnā€™t, there is nothing to worry about for a long time to come. They worked hard to lobby the government to forestall carbon regulations, and even got the Bush Administration to drop out of the Kyoto Protocol. Such are the evils of capitalism. I enjoyed this a lot. Because itā€™s a series of articles it can be hopelessly repetitive, and I wish there was some effort to edit this into a bit more coherence. Regardless, an interesting read. #insideclimatenews #ExxonTheRoadNotTaken #climatechangebooks

ā„ļøBook Reviewā„ļø Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy. This book had been on my radar for quite a long time before I finally worked up the courage to read it: for obvious reasons (birds on the cover, Terns are a main character, literally it is named Migrations). I dragged my feet, simply because one of the storyā€™s driving antagonists is climate disaster, and as a modern human living in our own very real, very HERE climate disasterā€¦.I did not think reading about a speculative world experiencing the same would do me good. After making my way through some lighter climate change books (lol), I decided it was time: I could do it, I could face this beautiful cover and mysterious protagonist. I timed the reading of this book to coincide with my first season of Raptor migration fieldwork, just to make sure I had some outdoor sublimation to counter anything too *scary.* This tale was immersive and consuming, with a world so much like ours and yet so different-common birds extinct, vast, fish-less seas. The main character is haunted and hunted: by her own actions and demons, driven by a singular mission to follow the Arctic Tern, the small, voracious seabird known for its extreme migration (Iā€™m sparing you from more tern facts here, but if you want more just know I have tons of bird news at the ready, at any moment). Many mysteries unfold, many timelines intersect. The descriptions of the natural world often took my breath away, and I still return to some of them in my mind on a stressful day. I loved this book, with qualms, mostly concerning the main character overall (kinda trope-y) and some of the mystery around her (that is as much as I will say to preserve the story). I would LOVE to dig into this with anyone, so please DM me about this one and we can GET INTO IT. 4.5/5 stars, a great novel and I am psyched for her next one. #bookreview

I've always thought of horror as those books that have ghosts. But this? This is worse because I can actually see it happening. Wilder Girls by Rory Power is a commentary on climate change, and a feminist, sapphic horror, young adult book. One of my first notes about this book is: ā€œSo gory and creepyā€. It is quickly followed by ā€œBut I love itā€. It is set in an all-girls boarding school on an island that has been taken over by a plague called the Tox. Everything on the island ā€” people, wildlife and the island itself ā€” is affected. First the teachers died, then it affects the students. The survivors are left with gruesome mutations. Think an extra spine or a clawed hand or an extra heart or extra growth behind a closed eyelid. Body horror is real. About 18 months ago, the school was put under quarantine and its inhabitants are left to fend for themselves. The girls only go outside the school to bring back food and essentials that are dropped by the mainland. They wait for a cure they were promised. But one of the girls goes missing, and her two friends will do anything to save her. Of course, they then find out that everything is not as it seems, and what they then do makes up the rest of the book. First, everything I liked about the book: I loved the idea, and its execution. It has two idiot girls pining for each other, it has lots of bickering, it has a grumpy girl with a marshmallow heart, it has friendship goals. It is also gleefully gruesome. But that ending!!! There is no resolution and it left me frustrated because I want to know what happens next and. there. is. no. sequel. CW: death, food scarcity, suicide, murder, gore, violence, blood, body horror (Read in 2021) QOTD: Are you a horror fan?

Review: Reservations: The Pleasures & Perils of Travel by Steve Burgess @douglasmcintyre2013 @thebcreview @burgesssteve Vancouver BC-based author Steve Burgessā€™s book Reservations is out in April and it was a pleasure to read. Check out my review at The BC Reviewā€™s website. https://thebcreview.ca/2024/03/19/2106-bowering-burgess Iā€™ve also posted the review on my blog at TrishTalksBooks.com Here are some highlights! *** ā€œ...an immediately engaging, thoughtful, and pointedly humorous examination of our globetrotting selves. No method of travel is left unexamined, no package tours are sacred.ā€ ā€œVancouverā€™s Steve Burgess offers his version of what it means to travel in an increasingly crowded, climate-change affected, and economically divided world. Reservations: The Pleasures and Perils of Travel is a substantial book that serves up marvellous tales of his adventures, with highlights including Japan and Italy, fascinating histories of the tourism industry, and a thoroughly modern examination of our perceived right to explore every corner of the globe. What does it mean to travel in the age of environmental change? Perhaps an uncomfortable question, but Burgess tackles it with a good helping of humour and doesnā€™t let himself off the hook.ā€ "This is a book where stories and timelines weave, rambling throughout the chapters just as Burgess has rambled through the world. Itā€™s an effective technique, rewarding the reader with a conversation of sorts. His friendly words and humorous anecdotes created an inviting tone that made me want to read on. I loved the digestible-length discussions and stories; Burgessā€™s prose is a well-crafted pleasure to read.ā€ "With Reservations, Burgess has written a wholly enjoyable travel narrative that asks some pretty tough questions of the casual vacationer, examining what it means to embrace new ways to explore the world in the era of climate change. He gets the fact that travel is so very compelling, and decisions to curb our wanderlust are painfully difficult. Itā€™s going to be an arduous environmental journey ahead, but one in which we travellers can play a critical role.ā€

šŸ’« Book Review šŸ’« Land of Milk and Honey by C Pam Zang Beautifully written, dystopian like future, grim, darkly poetic and VERY thought-provoking. Full of food, but in a very apocalyptic mindsetā€¦ it follows one main character (a chef) through her decisions and passions. I donā€™t have the words to explain how this book truly makes me feel, but it definitely made me FEEL. šŸÆ The author is a sublime storyteller, referencing an eerie futuristic look on how our planet and humanity could beā€¦ the relationship complexities between characters is also quite impressive. It could have fallen flat but it had SO much depth. I love loved it (although it also made me slightly uncomfortable at timesā€¦). At first the ending didnā€™t feel as though it fit (last 6 pages I thought could have been omitted altogether) but thinking about it more, it really worked. The recourse to frame narrative between present and futureā€¦ it brought it all full picture. If youā€™re looking for a short, stimulating read (with undertones of dystopian and climate change), I hiiiiighly recommend this. Especially for a book club or discussion with others. On thatā€¦ who wants to discuss with me? šŸ™ƒ PS I now have a deeper love for cicadas than I knew. Bravo @cpamzhang ! The longer I sit with this one, the more eh I feel about it. There were definitely some positives. I thought the setting of the book was excellent. The isolation and cold added to the whole atmosphere of the book. In addition, given the current state of the planet and technology, Sterlingā€™s not so distant future felt very plausible. The voices used all felt distinct, and I also enjoyed the pacing and building of suspense. I thought there were some nice twists as well. However, as Iā€™ve seen in several other reviews, for a book that discusses stealing land from Indigenous people several times (and given the overall plot of the book), it felt odd to not include an Indigenous perspective, especially considering the multiple POV style. I also felt that at times, the feminism felt a bit clunky and heavy handed. There was a lot of tell rather than show, which added to this issue for me. Iā€™m also unsure how I felt about the seemingly female utopia beginning to embody the same violence it condemns in men. I will say that listening to the audio may not have been the best format for me. Though the narrators did an excellent job, I found myself struggling to get back into the story each time I had to start and stop. The parts I enjoyed most were when I was able to sit and listen for long chunks of time. Camp Zero leaves most of its questions unanswered, so I am assuming a sequel is planned. I will say that I am intrigued enough to continue the story, so I look forward to seeing where Sterling goes next, though I do hope any future installments address some of these issues. #bookstagram #audiobooks #bookreview #feministreads #climatechangebooks #dystopianbooks #marchreads

šŸ“–: The Day the World Stops Shopping by J. B. Mackinnon soā€¦ i read this at the beach. and i feel sorta weird about it because itā€™s a book about anticonsumerism and i took a plane to get to said beach, just so i can roast under the sun for a few hours a day, for four-ish days. and then stupidly, iā€™d get heat exhaustion because of the sun-tanning and have to lie in my air-conditioned hotel room for the next few hours until dinnertime. but iā€™ve always been interested in the intersection of economics, work culture, and the health of our planet, and this book is about šŸ’²Ā and šŸŒ. The Day the World Stops Shopping is a brilliant though also terrifying deep dive into the stuff we buy, use, and show off, and the people who make them. itā€™s a little about economics, about corporations and companies and how they function, but also a bit about psychology in how we relate to our belongings. more thoughts are up on my substack, link in bio!!!
