The duration of most of my trainings is typically 9 months, excluding Master classes. I strive to cover all topics within this timeframe, expecting students to voluntarily stay back for practice. I often provide stipends to the majority of my students. However, I've noticed a common trend—they're consistently eager to achieve independence. Despite my encouragement for them to start businesses while still learning and my support towards their success, they often opt to open their own shops. I don't try to dissuade them from leaving, especially when they feel" used " . Mostly, It's usually external influences reinforcing their belief in their ability to stand on their own. As someone who once entered as a novice nine months ago, when did you transition to professionalism? This inclination is widespread, and I urge those who advocate for immediate departure from employment to consider the logical implications. No offense intended, but this attitude is particularly common among the Yoruba. In a short time, they aspire to become their own bosses, unlike the Igbo who may serve their employer for years. Consequently, many of these hastily established businesses fold within months. Finally finished my first book of the year! I can't believe it's May and I've only finished 1 book! I am reading like 10 books right now and my Goodreads goal is to read 25 this year. I'm usually farther along at this point. In addition to the books I'm reading, I am enrolled in several online courses and I'm doing a million other things, so I guess that means less reading time. Have you ever had “that” feeling that something is about to happen that is going to change your entire life? ☁️🕊️✨ The day before I came on this trip, I got that feeling.. And I’ve only ever had it 2 other times in my entire life. Both times were pivotal and life changing moments in the best ways possible. The first was 12 years ago, the day before I left to a dance conference with the college I was with at the time. The day the conference began, I connected with a Christian University, (I was a brand new baby in Christ, 4 months into my faith) got offered a dance talent scholarship and completely up and left my hometown of Miami, FL, for the first time ever, to follow Jesus and grow spiritually. Within 4 months I was enrolled full time to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK, as a Dance Major and never looked back. (The story is much longer with God moments every step of the way, but this is the way condensed version✨) The second time I had this feeling was about 2 years ago, when I was sitting at a coffee shop with one of my closest girlfriends and I told her, I have a feeling my husband is right around the corner. Which was wild to say because I never spoke like that or felt that before.. the NEXT DAY I connected with my now fiancé. For a long time I used to struggle with understanding myself. I couldn’t quite understand why when I would be around large groups of people, it made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Not soon after, I would eventually disappear and find myself alone. I went through phases where I would try to force myself to be around people Trying to “force” myself to be comfortable. I mean, it worked for a while but eventually…I’m drained. Couldn’t understand it - thought something was seriously wrong with me. And then, I learned about personality types. I had an “ah ha” moment when I learned there wasn’t anything “wrong” with me. I’m just an Introvert. Being around people for me is draining, exhausting really - But, when I’m alone. I get to recharge. Back when I worked a 9-5 not many could tell how much I struggled. I’ve learned since in my entrepreneurial journey that my one time “weakness” I thought I had… Is actually a strength. It’s the difference in how my brain works - that allows me to see the world the way I do. It’s what allows me to understand the word the way I do. So now, instead of hiding it - I can speak up and not feel ashamed if I’m the guy in the corner during a mixer. I also know(still learning) how to step out of that box and test the waters. To those struggling with being around people and wondering what exactly may be wrong with you. There’s nothing wrong, your brain just works differently than others. I recall the day the Word of God cut through my negative thought patterns and pierced my heart. The Holy Spirit reminded me, through 2 Cor 12:9 that God’s power is made perfect in my weakness. The effect was immediate. After years—maybe decades—of comparing myself to others and listening to the lies of the enemy that said I was an inadequate imposter, I was set free. I could nearly hear the sound of shattering glass as the negativity toward myself seemingly fell from my mind and hit the floor. All at once when I looked in the mirror, I saw the radiance of Jesus instead of the sin of my past. I caught the glimmer in my eyes that replaced a shadow of darkness. I knew, in an instant that God wasn’t disappointed in me. Rather, He chose me as His instrument and intended to use every heartache of my past to fulfill His will. He saw my flaws as tools of the trade, each of which prepared me in advance for His good work. The Word of God has that kind of power, yet too many of us (myself included at times) keep our Bibles on the shelf.
