Recognizing the importance of trauma work and knowing when to take a break for your well-being is crucial. It’s great to have open discussions with your therapist about this. Perhaps the methods you’ve been using are no longer as effective, and you might benefit from exploring different kinds of therapy, such as art, movement or somatic therapy. Maybe you need a break from therapy to enjoy life, and that’s okay. Here are some signs that it’s time to step back and recharge: 1. If, after therapy sessions, you repeatedly feel heavy and stuck, it may mean that the primary work or healing for now is done. It’s crucial to recognize when therapy might be traumatizing instead of helpful. 2. You have an established self-care routine, such as mindfulness practice, gardening, or picking up a new hobby, is essential for your well-being. 3. If you find that you have more space internally and can think of your experiences with compassion and curiosity, it shows growth and healing. Focus on feeling good and the shift in attitude toward your traumatic experiences. 4. You have more body awareness that helps you understand what you need in your therapy and communicate better with your therapist. 5. You are being less reactive to triggers, handling difficult conversations or situations calmly, and establishing boundaries are positive signs of progress. 6. You want to experience joy more often, it’s essential to give it attention and return to therapy when needed. Taking breaks is a vital part of the healing journey. Listen to your body and mind, and give yourself the compassion you deserve. #mentalhealth #SelfCare #traumahealing #takeabreak #expresiveartstherapy #golemexpressivearts #thoughtsaftertherapy #therapyburnaby #therapyvancouver #counselling #arttherapy #ifs

Saying, “I will” works wonders. You wouldn’t believe the things you’re capable of if you truly believed in yourself. Can you HONESTLY tell yourself you aren’t strong? Take a moment and reflect on everything you’ve been through in life. What shaped you to be who you are. What caused you immense pain. Consider the revolutionary moments. Consider what you’ve had to endure and that, no matter what, you came out on the other side. THAT is strength. We have all gone through our own unique experiences and simply facing them makes us stronger than before. Do not underestimate yourself. You’re stronger than you think. Comforting avoidant partners… Respect their space. If they need time to process, give them that time. Reassure them that you’ll be there when they’re ready, but a need to instantly hash things out can feel overwhelming.  Recognize the ways that they DO show you love. Them pulling away is a self-preservation thing and is not meant to hurt you. Giving them grace every so often and sharing how much you appreciate the ways they’ve shown up for you is helpful. Let them know you’re not going anywhere. Avoidant partners are only pulling away because they think YOU’LL leave. They think they can’t trust anyone and have a hard time sticking around in relationships because of it. They can self-sabotage and run before you do; it helps them feel more in control. So even when they pull away remind them that you’re around, when they’re ready. *Disclaimer: This work is under the assumption that the avoidant partner is pulling their weight and doing their part. Relationships take more than one person and it is important both or all parties are actively, consistently, putting in effort. There are only so many concessions and so much support one can offer. 🟣 Communication in Relationships: Anxious vs. Secure Attachment 🟣 Healthy communication is the cornerstone of strong relationships, but our attachment styles can influence how we express our needs and concerns. 🌟 🧠 Anxious Attachment Communication: People with anxious attachment often seek constant reassurance and may feel insecure about their partner’s feelings. This can lead to questions like: - Why didn’t you reply to my message right away? - Why do you seem distant? - Who are you texting/talking to? - Do you find someone else more attractive? - Why didn’t you invite me to go with you? 💬 Secure Attachment Communication: Those with secure attachment are more likely to communicate openly and trust their partner’s intentions. They might ask: - I noticed it took a while for you to reply to my message. Is everything okay? - I've been feeling a bit disconnected lately. Is there something on your mind that you'd like to talk about? - I'm curious about who you're chatting with. Can you tell me more about it? - Sometimes I worry about our relationship. Can you reassure me about how you feel about us? - I would have loved to join you. Could we plan something together next time? 🔑 Key Takeaway: Understanding and addressing our attachment styles can lead to healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Let's strive for open, honest, and empathetic communication with our partners. 💖 #AttachmentStyles #HealthyRelationships   #TherapyVancouver  #vancouverbc  #anxietycounselling  #counselling  #relationships  #Vancouvermentalhealth   #vancouverbc  #lonelinesscounselling  #MentalWellness  #mentalhealthawareness  #loneliness

Is your partner anxiously attached? You might feel like your partner relies on you too much or expects constant reassurance, which can be hard to keep up with.  If your partner is putting in the work to be more secure, you can help them in a few additional ways: Coming up with an honest one-liner can be helpful. It can act as a reminder or mantra for your anxious partner to remind them that you’re motivated to work through this with them. That’s the ultimate reassurance, that you’ll be around even during the toughest of times.  Throwing out some verbal validation every so often. It never hurts to compliment your partner or tell them you love them. It only takes a second and it helps your partner feel secure and seen with you. Be honest. Tell your partner when the anxiety is feeling like too much. It can be helpful to keep them accountable (maybe have a discussion where the both of you mutually agree to this, first) while being honest with your feelings along the way.  *Disclaimer: This work is under the assumption that the anxious partner is pulling their weight and doing their part. Relationships take more than one person and it is important both or all parties are actively, consistently, putting in effort. Are you violating others’ boundaries? As we bring our boundary discussion to a close this week (for now!) it might be helpful to check ourselves and the way(s) we might be violating other people’s boundaries.  Remember, if someone sets a boundary with you, it’s probably because they want to keep you in their life and build a stronger relationship with you. That’s admirable! So don’t take their boundary setting as a personal attack. Honour their needs and emotions whenever you reasonably can. Keep having open and honest conversations to make sure you’re on the same page. Remember, you are not the ONLY priority that exists to someone; respect their time and other priorities.  • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

Time to set boundaries?⏰ Ask yourself these questions: 1. Am I overwhelmed or drained after interacting with certain people in my life? 2. Do I feel obligated to say yes to every request? 3. Do you feel responsible for others’ emotions or put pressure on yourself to “fix” others’ emotions? If you answered yes to these questions and/or if you find yourself ignoring your own needs, feeling burnt out, tolerating disrespectful behaviour and going above and beyond for others, then it might be time to set boundaries. More on boundary setting to come this week! Want to increase your self-esteem?
Romanticizing your life is a GREAT way to do that.💕 ⚪️Get dressed up in some nice clothing, just because. ⚪️Take yourself out for dinner. ⚪️Take a relaxing bubble bath. ⚪️Decorate your room with some calm lighting. Reminders you need to hear right now on your healing journey… Acceptance is essential to your healing: If you hold onto anger, hurt, and pain, then you are taking up your precious mental capacity, which instead could be used for socializing, self-betterment, coping, and so many more helpful things. Healing is not linear: there are going to be days where you feel like you’re taking steps backwards, but I can assure you this is NOT the case. Some days might be more emotionally difficult, but you’re well on your path to healing. Stay motivated. Take a break: You are farther now in your journey than you’ve ever been. It’s okay to pause and appreciate that as opposed to getting caught up in the next thing that you’re “supposed” to be doing. Save this post for the next time you’re second guessing yourself and your progress.📍 • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

Struggling to feel your feelings? We’ve been discussing the topic of emotions this week, so let’s discuss how to actually FEEL them. 1. Pay attention to your body: your body is a lot more in touch with your mental state than you’d might think. Feeling how emotions present physically can be quite telling and helps you get in touch with yourself. 2. Name the feeling: Sometimes, emotions can be overwhelming, so labeling them creates a sense of organization that you might not have otherwise. If it helps, write down a list of emotions that arise within you! 3. Get curious: Often, we feel emotions and immediately try to shut them down because they tend to feel uncomfortable. Getting curious means to embrace this discomfort and go on a journey of self exploration. Why am I feeling what I’m feeling? Is this something that means more than what meets the eye? Is this emotion trying to tell me something? Follow for more on getting in touch with your emotions and stabilizing them! • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

A summary of yesterday’s post! If you want to hear more on this topic, head over to my last reel where I describe this in more depth. The fact is that healing from childhood trauma is really challenging. There are layers: your scared childhood self, the lessons they learned, the feelings towards those that were close to you, the defense mechanisms you created then that no longer serve you now, etc. So if you choose to engage in this work, be mindful that some preparation might suit you. This is not meant to discourage you from the process. Healing is a beautiful thing and just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s not doable. You can do really hard things ❤️ • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

What are your thoughts on this? Read the caption, then comment below⬇️ Emotions can be incredibly painful, but also exciting and rewarding. Some emotions we never want to feel again and others we want to feel all of the time.  We don’t always get to choose how we feel, but we do get to choose the way we interact with our emotions.  If we interact with them in a healthy way, research shows that this contributes to increased self-awareness, improved relationships, greater resilience, and improved physical health. I’ve seen this happen in my personal life and professional life. Being able to incorporate a new perspective on your emotional state makes a world of difference.  Thoughts? • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

Are you compassionate with yourself? When was the last time you experienced negative self-talk? That voice in your head that says you can’t do something. My 4 specialities/pillars: 1️⃣Emotional processing and regulation. Managing emotions is a learned skill that not everyone has the luxury of learning. I specialize in helping people access their emotions, understand them, and find healthy ways to cope. 2️⃣Sense of self. As humans, we’re always evolving and changing, and I’m here to help you grow into the most authentic version of yourself. This requires compassionate self-reflection and self-awareness which we will dive into during our therapy sessions. 3️⃣Inner child work. Inner child work allows us to address the unmet needs that still linger within you. It’s a way of “reparenting” yourself so you can let go of unhealthy coping skills and incorporate new, healthier ones that allow you to thrive. 4️⃣Relationship challenges. You might have an insecure attachment style, feel codependent, or find yourself chronically people-pleasing. We can explore your current struggles and come up with strategies to help you show up in your relationships in a healthier way. *please note, this is NOT the same as couples counselling* If any of these themes resonate with you, book an intro call with me at the link in bio! 🗓️ We may be a good fit to work with one another. ✨ • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

Is holistic therapy right for you? According to the modality of holistic therapy, it’s possible to treat the whole person at once — mind, body, and spirit. 🧘 Holistic therapy aims to create a balanced and harmonious state of well-being, believing that true health and wellness are achieved when the mind, body, and spirit are aligned. This is different from other theoretical approaches that are more isolated. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), for example, targets thought processes and behaviours but does not specifically tune into emotional presentation in the body. In my work, I use an eclectic method, which blends the holistic approach with other traditional, evidence-based, therapies. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, book a consultation call with me at the link in bio to see if we’re a good fit!🗓️ • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

Spring can bring a mix of challenges for some individuals. The onset of seasonal allergies can lead to discomfort, while changes in routine, like adjusting to daylight saving time, may disrupt sleep patterns and cause fatigue. There's often pressure to embrace the concept of renewal, setting goals and making changes, which can feel overwhelming. Additionally, some people experience reverse seasonal affective disorder during spring, with longer days and increased sunlight affecting mood. Social pressures and comparisons can exacerbate feelings of loneliness or anxiety, while associations with past trauma may resurface during this time. Financial strain from spring expenses further adds to the stress. Combined, these factors can create a challenging environment for those navigating the spring season. Remember that it's okay not to feel okay all the time. Acknowledge your feelings and give yourself compassion and understanding 🌸💮🌻 #TherapyVancouver #vancouverbc #counselling #Vancouvermentalhealth #vancouverbc #lonelinesscounselling #MentalWellness #mentalhealthawareness #loneliness #selflove #heal #selfcare

Let’s talk about holistic therapy… I use a holistic lens in my work because I believe you should not be defined by your struggles. Instead, holistic work allows us to look at your physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being, viewing you as a whole. Here’s how I incorporate this approach in my work: Step 1: Awareness. This is all about understanding how your past has shaped who you are. Step 2: Processing. During this phase, you will learn how to manage distressing emotions, accept your past, and make peace with it. Step 3: Action! During the final step, we’ll pinpoint areas of improvement so you can make meaningful, long-lasting changes in your life. Practice authenticity. Being authentic to ourselves means that we have a strong sense of self; a strong sense of identity. Being authentic with others means we can develop more meaningful and long-lasting connections. “Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It is about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.” -Brene Brown Save this post for inspiration as you embark on your healing journey.📍 • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

Embracing the mantra, "I'm doing the best I can," is a wonderful act of self-compassion. It's a reminder to be gentle with yourself, especially in challenging times, and to acknowledge that you're always striving to do your best. It's a common human tendency to be overly critical of ourselves. We often forget to appreciate our efforts and instead focus on our perceived limitations and shortcomings. Self-compassion is the practice of accepting yourself as you are, as a human being with strengths and weaknesses. When you remind yourself, "I am doing the best I can," you're offering yourself understanding and forgiveness, even when you fall short of your own expectations. It's a way of showing kindness and understanding to yourself, a gift you truly deserve. So, try and show yourself some kindness today and let yourself know that you're doing the best you can ❤️ I hope you're having a wonderful day 😊 #vancouvercanada #VancouverBC #TherapyVancouver #vancouverbc #anxietycounselling #counselling #relationships #Vancouvermentalhealth #kitsilano #downtownvancouver #vancouverbc #Counsellor #onlinecounselling #lonelinesscounselling #MentalWellness #mentalhealthawareness #loneliness #endloneliness #lonely #selflove #heal #movingforward #grateful #loveyourself #selfcare

What’s the purpose of visualizing your emotions? Visualizing your emotions allows you to move away from being defined (and ultimately controlled by) them. Instead, viewing them as something outside of yourself (seen as a scene, object, person, etc.) allows you to interact with them, and perhaps even engage in dialogue with them. You can ask the emotion questions like: ➡️Why are you here? ➡️What purpose are you trying to serve? ➡️What do you need for me to release you? Often, emotions come up because they’re trying to tell you something. Anger might be telling you that a boundary has been crossed. Sadness might be telling you that you’re longing for someone or something. Anxiety might be trying to warn you and protect you about something. As you engage in visualization and dialogue with your emotions, you will understand yourself better and will have a better idea of why certain emotions arise as well as what is needed to stabilize them. This is an approach I love using in my work with my clients as it’s also a method that helps bring you closer to your authentic self. If you’re interested in this type of work, book an intro call with me at the link in bio! • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

In October 2023, I moved into my new counselling office in lovely Yaletown. I didn't feel like working from home anymore, and I also wanted to offer my clients more days for in-person sessions. Right now I offer in-person and online sessions every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Sometimes, I get asked if I see a difference in the effectiveness of counselling when it's online or in-person. I personally have not experienced a difference with my clients. It's more of a matter of preference. One of the most critical things in counselling is that we feel comfortable in the counselling space. For some people, that means seeing their counsellor in person; for others, it means being in the comfort and safety of their own home. I have a hybrid version with some clients, sometimes in-person and other times online. I always try to be flexible with that. #newtovancouver #vancouvercanada #VancouverBC #TherapyVancouver #vancouverbc #anxietycounselling #counselling #relationships #Vancouvermentalhealth #kitsilano #downtownvancouver #vancouverbc #Counsellor #onlinecounselling #langley #greatervancouver #CounsellingVancouver #vancouverbc #Counselor #MentalWellness

What does it even mean to emotionally regulate? It’s a skill that is often overlooked, but incredibly important. Essentially, it’s the amount of control you have over your emotional state. Have you ever gotten so angry that you end up saying something you regret? Have you ever gotten so upset that you spend days upon days shutting down and can’t get anything done? These are examples of emotional regulation challenges. First things first: labeling emotions. It might seem too simple to be effective, but if you’re feeling particularly overwhelmed or are experiencing many emotions at once, then labeling your emotions (even saying them out loud) can be helpful. It offers a sense of organization, which enhances perceived control. Feel your emotions physically, in your body. This process takes time, but connecting your mental and physical states is rewarding. It helps you feel more aware and in touch with your emotions. Suddenly they aren’t something happening to you, but something you’re working through. Feeling emotions physically means you can also engage in release. For example, if you’re feeling anxiety in your chest then deep breathing exercises to release this tension is helpful. If you’re feeling an excess amount of energy in your body due to intense feelings of anger, then physical release like going for a walk or even jumping up and down could be helpful. Physical movement is a powerful way to release energy. Emotional regulation is a crucial part of the healing process. Follow for more on emotional regulation and processing! • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

Are you self-aware? Self-awareness can certainly be a strength, but it can also be associated with some weaknesses. This is why it’s important to find a balance that works for you. ⚖️ If you’re self-aware to a point where you offer yourself compassion, learn from your mistakes, and are willing to make changes, then this is great! However, if your self-awareness is making you second guess yourself and constantly strive for perfection, then this is….less great. An excess of anything can be harmful so be mindful of the tools and skills you incorporate into your life and find a balance that works for you! 🌸 Spring is in the Vancouver air 🌱 I don't know about you, but I always feel a huge difference in myself once the sun's out after long winter days of rain and fog. As nature awakens after the winter, let's take inspiration to nurture our mental well-being. 🌼 Spring is a great opportunity for inner growth and revitalization. Here are some thoughts on how you can harness the power of spring to prioritize your mental health: 🌿 Connect with Nature: Take advantage of the longer days and warmer weather by spending time outdoors. Whether it's a stroll in the park, a hike in the mountains, or simply enjoying the sun on your balcony or backyard, immersing yourself in nature can profoundly impact your mood and overall mental health. 🌷 Practice Mindfulness: The world comes alive again after months of hibernation. Take a moment to pause, breathe deeply, and fully engage all your senses in the present moment. Notice the flowers around you, the chirping of birds, or the gentle breeze against your skin. Allow yourself to be fully present and savour the beauty of spring. 🌸 Cultivate Gratitude: Spring reminds us of life's inherent beauty and abundance. Take time each day to reflect on the things you're grateful for, whether it's the blooming flowers, the warmth of the sun, or the support of loved ones. Cultivating gratitude can shift your perspective and foster a sense of contentment and inner peace. 🌱 Engage in Self-Care: Just as nature undergoes a process of renewal in spring, prioritize your own self-care and renewal. Whether it's indulging in a relaxing bath, practicing yoga, journaling, meeting friends or treating yourself to a picnic in the park, make time for activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul. Remember, your mental health is just as important as your physical health, and spring offers the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate and prioritize self-care. Let's welcome this season of growth with open arms and a commitment to nurturing our well-being. 🌿💚 #SpringRenewal #MentalHealthMatters #vancouvercanada #VancouverBC #TherapyVancouver #vancouverbc #anxietycounselling #counselling #relationships #Vancouvermentalhealth #kitsilano #downtownvancouv

Are you stuck? You’ve read the self-help books, you’ve gone to therapy, and you’re still not seeing progress. Let’s understand a few things: 1️⃣Just because you’re understanding your emotions doesn’t mean you’re adequately processing them. Processing requires FEELING your emotions, physically, in your body, and engaging in regulation, which helps you stabilize the intensity of emotions. 2️⃣You might be overthinking, which is actually an unhealthy coping tool that pushes you further away from processing your emotions and experiences. In these instances, healthier coping tools, like thought challenging, or grounding yourself would be more useful. 3️⃣There is no blueprint for healing, which means there is no step-by-step process. It’s okay to let go of control and let things happen naturally. It might feel overwhelming and disorganized, but this is part of the process. ➡️Send this post to a self-aware friend who is still struggling on their healing journey. • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

For my spiritual followers!🕉️ Trusting in the universe, leaning into your energy, and being mindful of the thoughts you carry are all powerful tools. By focusing on what is within your control, you are able to place your energy into things that really matter: your goals, relationships, relationship to yourself, etc. This is far more rewarding than spending time and energy on things outside of your control. A spiritual lens can provide a sense of comfort, hope, fulfillment and purpose. At the very least, it promotes a calm approach and continued strength with daily things, like school, work, and connections with others. Save this post for when you need a spiritual reminder! • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

As a therapist, I often encounter individuals needing clarification about taking the first step toward therapy. 🌟  Here are some compelling reasons to consider it: Self-Knowledge: Discovering your true self can be life-changing. It's about peeling back the layers to understand what makes you YOU. 🍃 Building Healthy Relationships: It's about learning to foster connections that uplift and support, navigating the complexities of relationships with grace and understanding. 💞 Dealing with Your Feelings: Whether it's joy, sadness, anger, or fear, understanding and managing your emotions can lead to a more balanced life. 🌈 All of the Above and More: Therapy offers a safe space to explore, heal, and grow in multiple aspects of your life. 🌱 Each journey is unique and profoundly personal. What's your reason for considering therapy? Is there anything you'd add to this list? Let's start a conversation and support each other on our paths to wellness.

Are you dissociating? There is a theory that says different parts of us exist for different purposes. You have the parts that are hurting (pain, shame, fear, or trauma, usually from childhood) You have protective parts, which influence the way you interact with the world to protect you from being hurt. This includes repression certain emotions that feel too painful to manage. So, dissociation is actually a protective part that tries keeping us safe and away from difficult emotions. This might be why you’re having trouble connecting to your emotions or trouble feeling them in your body. The process of working through these parts in order to access difficult emotions can be challenging; professional support might be helpful! This is what I specialize in so book an intro call with me at the link in bio to see if we’re a good fit to work with one another! • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

You have this amazing automatic response system designed to protect you from physical danger. The problem is that it’s been showing up when you don’t need it, creating unnecessary turmoil. It’s normal for your subconscious mind to create irrational fears, phobias or anxieties but it’s really not optimal. Fear creates the physiological mechanism designed to make you run faster than ever before. And this can end up feeling physically awful because it’s like running a race standing still. There are ways to optimize your mind so subconscious mind aligns with where YOU know you are at... which is that everything’s actually fine. If you’re in real physical danger, requiring strength and speed, your mind will still have you covered. But until then, your mind can get the message that there’s nothing that needs to be done right now, so fear can dissipate. To optimize your mind and clear your phobia, try Rapid Resolution Therapy. Do you feel threatened by boundaries? Check your ego, friend! 👀 Boundaries might initially feel like a threat, but that’s only because you’re taking it personally. It’s important to know that when someone sets boundaries with you, they are doing so because they’re being mindful of their own energy and capabilities. When you take it personally, you are likely to become defensive. The truth is, if someone is willing to set a boundary with you it means that they value their relationship with you. They are willing to have an uncomfortable conversation in order to create a more stable and long-lasting relationship with you. And that should be celebrated! Just a reminder that your pain matters. Whatever it is you’re going through, however you’re feeling, it is important. You deserve to talk about it, to be listened to and heard without judgment, and to have support. Regardless of what other people around you are experiencing, or how much ‘worse’ someone else in some other situation seems to have it, your story is important. Your feelings are. It is not helpful to compare and dismiss our own pain as a result, because that just piles shame on top of what was already there. It doesn’t make it go away. It’s okay to be hurting or having a hard time, and I hope you find people and spaces that can offer you the support and compassion to be honest about it. You don’t need to go through pain alone. 🤍 #counsellor #counselling #therapy #therapist #bccounselling #vancouver #northvancouver #rcc #clinicalcounselling #therapyvancouver #youmatter #support #pain #anxiety #anxietysupport #socialanxiety #depression #depressionsupport #eatingdisorderrecovery #hope #yourenotalone

What’s the difference? Well, boundaries keep us safe and contribute to respectful and balanced relationships. ⚖️ They come from internal strength: -you focus on your needs -focus on what’s within your control -associated with ACTION (you can follow through with boundaries by DOING something when boundaries are crossed) Expectations are beliefs about how others should treat us. Unmet expectations can lead to strain in relationships.😓 Expectations are also externally focused: -focuses on others’ behaviours -focus on what is outside of your control Send this to someone who needs to practice boundary setting!➡️ • • • • • • • • #benicetoyourself #timeforyourself #selfcarealways #healing #selfdevelopment #growthmindset #virtualtherapy #virtualtherapyontario #virtualtherapybritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyontario #onlinecounsellingontario #onlinetherapybritishcolumbia #onlinecounsellingbritishcolumbia #onlinetherapyvancouver #therapyvancouver #therapytoronto #torontotherapy #vancouvertherapy #attachmentstyle #insecureattachment #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing

There are now a lot of cutting edge trauma therapy approaches that are different than traditional talk therapy. Here at FreeMind Therapy, we offer Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), Somatic Experiencing therapy, EMDR, and other methods. You can effectively address past traumas without reliving them and re-telling them in tons of detail. RRT has the potential to clear up a trauma in just 1-3 sessions. EMDR is similar, and Somatic Experiencing therapy provides a more gentle route to processing trauma. If you are ready to start your journey towards thriving, and be clear from the effects of trauma, click the link in our bio to schedule your FREE 20-minute consultation. #therapyvancouver #counsellorvancouver #vancouvercounsellor #onlinetherapy #virtualtherapy #selfhealers #mentalhealth #selfcare #mentalhealthmatters #selfhelp #therapy #rrt #rapidresolutiontherapy #traumatherapy #traumarecovery #traumahealing #firstresponders #ptsd #cptsd #ptsdtherapy #childhoodtrauma #lifecoach #psychotherapy #therapist

You don’t have to be emotionless, to be emotionally regulated. You can still feel those big emotions. . . you are human! But avoidance of feeling your feels typically makes them worse. If you allow yourself to experience the emotion instead, and not be threatened by it, you can learn to regulate it. Here’s how: 1.) Simply become aware of and notice the feeling. 2.) Acknowledge and name the feeling (out loud if you can). 3.) Give yourself an allotted amount of time to feel it, without pushing it away. 4.) Say the phrase “I acknowledge I am feeling ______. I accept you and I love you”. This cheesy phrase is shown to help reduce the intensity of emotions. If you need more support with managing emotions and becoming regulated, a therapist can help!  Click the link in our Bio to book a free 20min phone consultation. #therapyvancouver #counsellorvancouver #vancouvercounsellor #onlinetherapy #virtualtherapy #selfhealers #mentalhealth #selfcare #mentalhealthmatters #selfhelp #therapy #rrt #rapidresolutiontherapy #traumatherapy #traumarecovery #traumahealing #firstresponders #ptsd #cptsd #ptsdtherapy #childhoodtrauma #lifecoach #psychotherapy #therapist

Confidence is a buzz word these days. Everyone covets it or thinks it’s what is required to be successful. A concept from Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) suggests the opposite. Turning inward and being hyper focused on how you feel, distracts from what you’re trying to achieve. The reality is, you don’t want to be aware of feeling anything… you want to be outward focused, and engaging with what you’re doing in the present. Not super aware of the level of confidence you’re feeling or not feeling at any given moment. A slight mind shift like this can make a big difference.
