You feel disappointed, sad, and upset because your friend failed to live up to your expectations. The saddest part is maybe you didn’t expect much from them to begin with. You just wanted them to do what friends do – be there for you, make you laugh, cheer you on, and talk. Maybe they betrayed you by talking about you behind your back or by revealing your secrets to others. Perhaps they didn’t invite you when they were all hanging out, or they simply failed to be there for you when you needed them the most, or they have blocked you out of their life for no apparent reason. Whatever they did, they don’t deserve to stay in your life anymore. They may as well be lifeless stone statues incapable of love nor feeling. Don’t think twice. Leave them. Though it hurts so much, move as far away from them and never look back. Breaking up with a long-time friend can be just as difficult as ending a marriage. You suffer the loss and grieve in a very similar way. In both cases, it often takes more than one significant experience before you realize your time as friends may need to come to an end. Moving on from friendship can be hard—and it can hurt. But, when the relationship turns toxic and it feels harder to be with your friend than without them, it can result in you feeling better about yourself, more supported and valued. As you choose to let a friend go, there will be a hole in the fabric of your life where your friend used to be. Darning that hole will take a bit of time, mourning the loss and grieving. DAY THREE: I didn't just mourn having to remove you from my life, I grieved the lost idea of a future, where, despite everything, we could still be close friends. I had the foolish idea that, despite all odds, we would "make it out okay" we could be close friends, I could overcome my attachment and jealousy issues, and you'd be okay with my company again. We had done it so many times before...yet it still fell back into ruins each time. Whenever I was around you, in person, things really felt okay. I genuinely have some nice, fun memories and moments that, hurt to really remember because things changed so much since those times. When apart, it was a constant rollercoaster of emotions every single day. Despite all the pain and the awful way you treated me during the fall outs, I still had hoped we could fix things, hang out again, or even go to places together. Even when I hadn't seen you in months. I was very delusional, but I just missed you and wanted some sort of hope, or a sign that things would be okay, that I was still wanted in some form. My constant anxiety over this all falling apart, led it to being the reality. The truth was, I wasn't really wanted in your life anymore. I was 'boring' and no longer of interest to you, no matter what I said or did for you. I gave so much of myself, so much energy, for so damn long, that I don't have anything left of myself anymore. I don't really know who I am now. I've lost motivation and interests in my hobbies. My personality is now foreign to myself. I am automatically rather stand offish to strangers now. Hi! I am the face behind the voice you hear. I started this podcast as an outlet to fill my cup a bit more. I had been facing a hard journey of postpartum depression/anxiety and went to therapy for the first time! Through my journey I unlocked A LOT of generational trauma, relived past dark experiences and had to FINALLY process things that happened to me. Through many tears (and anxiety attacks) I found a version of myself that I adore and care about ! I’ve had a lot of failed friendships and a BAD habit of “cutting people out” without any communication at all. I wanted to dissect my past friendships and really get to the bottom of “where did it go wrong?” This podcast has allowed me to “open up the conversation.” Through acknowledgment and empathy I am able to see where things went wrong and how I can do better for my future friendships and relationships. A new Friend.. Finding and making new friends in this era is difficult. Over period of time, we just lost that ease of interacting with strangers and share our stories or lister theirs. Believe me, these social apps don’t work that fine too. Sometimes you carry a baggage of ruined friendship with silly fights, trust break, heart break, new city, new friends or sometimes life happens. No matter how hard you try, you cannot be in connect with all of them, probable a few would stay around and be there as and when you need them. BTW this is rare. Friendship also comes with some cost involved. You have to hang out together to bond better, remember birthday’s, call them, invest time and energy, talk to them often, lister to them when needed etc. Thus, it is difficult but sweet. Still there are things you cannot fully express, can’t keep on bugging them all time or be emotionally dependent on them. So, you think of having that one special person with whom you can be you, be needy, be dependent, get funny get angry, anything anytime. But that too is not a cake walk. So, what to do? Well, I am still trying but this time not with people but with a pen and paper. Not sure for how long but, I guess they meet my need perfectly for now. I can be myself with them, express anything I want and the best part…they are always by my side. Though I miss getting some feedback but, I think they deliver it in their own subtle way. A way in which I don’t get it directly but they help me find it for myself. Feeling extremely overwhelmed lately and felt I needed to take some time for myself this morning to do a reading. ❤️ It's always amazing to see the cards reflect my inner most thoughts/worries. ⚔️ Feeling a bit calmer now and ready to take on the day! For some, a deeper connection can spring forth as a result of conflict resolution. But that is not everyone’s story. Some friendships have an expiration date. Some friendships need to die or end so that you can LIVE. For some, it has to end for your health and safety. For others, it has to end for your emotional, spiritual and personal growth. Whatever the reason, know that God cares for you. Tell him how you feel so that you can learn what He’s teaching you and move forward.
