That when a shitty thing happens and hurts your feelings, you could say……”whelp”…”I’m just not going to care about that”…”I know I didn’t do anything wrong”…”so I’m just not going to think about it anymore.” Does that really work? Maybe sometimes it does…but doesn’t it usually catch up to you? I mean how many times can you just “let it go” without resentment building up? Do I have the answer for you…no I don’t. But, I do have a suggestion. Get a notebook: ✍🏼Write down exactly what happened ✍🏼How mad it made you ✍🏼And what you wish you had said …then close the notebook or tear the page out rip it up and throw it in the trash! Either way…you get it out of your head. It doesn’t need to make any sense…write like you’re talking to the person or telling a friend. Just get it out. We’re not built to never get upset. Each of us carries a unique story, and I value those moments when I get to hear and learn from other people’s experiences and see things from a different lens. I learned that when it comes to DE&I, there are two significant areas where companies can make strides: 1️⃣ Establishing a Leadership Development Plan for Every New Employee: Having a clear path to leadership for all new hires ensures that talent is nurtured and empowered from the beginning. 2️⃣Creating an Environment of Belonging and Inclusion for Staff: Fostering a workplace culture where every individual feels valued, respected, and included is essential for organizational success and employee well-being. 💪Here's my challenge for you, especially if your organization is struggling with inclusion or doesn't have clear leadership paths: start talking with your colleagues. Ask about the strategies already in place and share any concerns you have. Have you ever noticed that when you announce you’d like to do a quick introduction round, there’s a collective rolling of the eyes. Especially if the group already knows each other. For participants, it can feel a bit tick-the-boxy (that’s a word), unless they understand why you’re doing it. I often say something like: “In order for this session to be useful, and not just interesting, I need to get a sense of who you are and what you want to get out of this session.” Then, I introduce something that is definitely not ‘let’s go around the room and introduce ourselves.’ Facilitating group introductions is an important part of the setting the scene. ✅ It gives participants a chance to speak into the room early. Early engagement gives you the best chance of continued engagement. ✅ It helps participants find unexpected connections with others. When people feel connected, they’re more likely to contribute. ✅ And it allows you to get a sense of who’s in the room and what they’re hoping to achieve. Making sure the workshop aligns with expectations is key to keeping people engaged. It doesn’t matter how many people are in the room or how long the session is for, introductions are a critical part of the engagement process. Just make sure you design them so they’re fit for purpose. 🌸 GROWING GIRLS is a 2.5-day workshop for girls going into puberty and their mums 🌸 Our workshop is a beautiful weekend to celebrate your daughter on the verge of becoming a young woman and deepen your relationship as mother and daughter. We use games, songs, craft, and stories to tell them about menstruation and other changes at puberty. You will have the opportunity to talk honestly and deeply with your daughter and to participate in a beautiful honouring ceremony to boost her self-esteem and ‘sing her up’ as a blossoming young woman. There is always much laughter and fun and the girls often don’t want to come on the first day – and then they can’t wait to come on the second day. Raising our daughter with ASD to be independent was my goal from the very beginning. I know as a nurse that being there to guide my daughter is crucial in her growth and development. It took acceptance of her condition for me to be able to see her for her potential not her limitations. This helped me to observe and learn more about her behavior and her learning capabilities. This gave me an idea on what task i can let her do on her own and which ones she need help with. And as she grows up, she has learned to do more things on her own like dressing up, packing her things up, and even helping in some food preparations in the kitchen. At age 10, she is youngest in her class to start her own jewelry business and now she will soon pursue her dream as a fashion designer in college. In the aftermath of experiencing trauma, time felt like an enemy, stretching endlessly with no relief in sight. But as the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, I began to notice subtle shifts within myself. With each passing day, the sharp edges of my pain began to soften, and the overwhelming emotions slowly started to ebb away. Time granted me the space I needed to process what had happened, allowing me to confront my fears and anxieties head-on. It was during these moments of quiet reflection that I began to piece myself back together, one fragment at a time. While the healing process was far from linear and often fraught with setbacks, time proved to be my greatest ally. It gave me the perspective to recognise that healing isn't about erasing the past but rather learning to live alongside it. With each sunrise, I grew stronger, and more resilient, until one day, I realised that the trauma no longer defined me. Time has woven its magic, transforming my pain into wisdom, my scars into strength, and reminding me that even in the darkest of moments, there is always hope. When I was a teenager I literally thought peer pressure was fake. I didn’t believe that people did things because their “friends” pressured them into doing those things.
