Today I stopped to connect with this tree on my morning walk ~ She was drawing me in. As I started to look, Many wild faces and expressions came alive with vibrant energy! The kind of belly cackle that erupts like fiery lava, And overcomes you with unbridled joy. The kind that frees you, The kind that reminds you of who you are. My “meeting with Baubo moment” 🔥 I love this time of year !! I start to commune deepen with the myths and stories of the feminine. The descent into the darker months can be so rich with wisdom and remembrance. For all you “pushers” out there.. 🍁Give yourself permission to drop into a moment of ease. 🍁Today I was remembering back to the time when my boys were 3 & 4… I was a single parent and would see 12 clients back to back two days in a row so that I could spend the 3 week days I had them fully with them. I don’t know how I did that😳 🍁I’ve always pushed myself hard to do more & be more… A great quality because you get a lot of sh## done-but I realize it probably wasn’t the most balanced way to live😁 🍁In the last few years I’ve been dropping into exploring more of the feminine. We are constantly tasting, feeling and smelling our surroundings and understanding the language of the world through our senses & by way of plants, people and places. Our sensory perception is awakened by the mysterious antenna within our being that roots us to life and it’s surroundings. We’re usually numbed by the overload of the unnatural but, never by the wisdom that lies in the secrets of nature & in the art of the earth’s treasures. Nature’s expression will envelope us with wisdom if we are tuned in and open to receive. Meanwhile, I am still on vacation on the island of Sifnos and quite far from any workshops or ceremony dates, even though I’m so longing to sit again with my fellow women. The next few months will be wrought with changes for our family, as we are in the process of relocating without a destination as of yet. And as we pack up our summer home, I’m excited to head to Athens & after to the island of Crete. Crete has always held a special place in my heart, & I have longed to move there since my last stay over 15 yrs ago. Things are different today, as my family has grown, but the desire to be surrounded by open skies + hugged by abundant earth has remained the same. 🤎 And as I drive through the local mountains of Sifnos, picking oregano, thyme, sage & cedar for future circles, I’m asking for the allies & spirit guides to take us home gracefully. I ask for them to hear our calls + to pave the road for cedar to be offered, prayers to be answered, songs to be created + new altars to be made. I ask for the story of the past to be the thread of the future, & for our garden to be weaved with the fruits of prosperity, humbleness & the creation of a new dawn.☀️ I remind myself that I’m here to learn, to listen & to trust the glorious whisper of my instinct, crystalized intuition and simple gut feeling that knows the rhythm of the souls purpose that seeks to be surrounded by strong community & like minds & dreams that fill life with the intoxicating breath of the senses & the artistry that exists in trusting the mystery of each path within the collective. The Rose . As the Rose unravels it’s spiralling petals, opening deeper to the light, it holds within its centre the Rose-hip. The Rose-hip holds the seeds, as well as the medicine, only revealed after the petals have wilted and fallen from the plant. . The Rose teaches us about the ever spiralling wisdom of life’s sacred ways. Life spiralling into death, a necessary flow, for new life to follow. One does not and can not exist without the other, nor can light exist without the dark or stability exist without chaos. . Many of us understand this wisdom intellectually, but do not fully embody it through every breath we breath, every step we take, every thought we action or birth into physical reality. We still believe that we are the thorns, seperate to the beautiful rose, forgetting that both are of the same plant. . In our dualistic minds we create suffering through our perceived separation from everything else forgetting that even when all we see is thorns, a rose never forgets how to bloom. . To anchor into this wisdom during these times, beyond an intellectual concept, offers a point of stillness to lean into, to hold you in the truth of your being-ness and allow the illusions of the mind to become nothing but a trickle in the face of your roaring passionate river of faith. . Whether you feel like the bud, the flower, the wilting petals, the spiky thorns or the inner Rose-hip today, you are connected to the same roots, that grow within the one garden of our Mother Earth. . To walk through these times, connected to ones centre, loving both thorn and petal, spiraling open without resistance, standing in the fire with grace and trusting the unraveling for the reweaving, is to know the wisdom of the cycles, fully embodied and integrated within ones self through dedicated observation, practice and devotion. . They work magic both seen and unseen. They can be deeply profound, restorative and connective. “The liminal place of being. That in between place that encompasses everything. You know how when you have stood on the beach in the fog (one of my favorite things to do), to just be enveloped in fog. There is no horizon, there are no lines, there are no demarcations. I am just in this place of suspended being and I have to trust. I have to trust and believe that I am safe and that what I know to be true, that I am standing on sand [and] that there is an ocean out there, and that the fog will lift itself at some point and I will be able to see the horizon again.” - Deb Bowen Do not fear the liminal place. The place between breaths, the space between heart beats; it can stretch and feel as if the waiting is endless. No door, no path forward. You are meant to wait here. Right here. There are changes underway that you cannot begin to comprehend. Changes in the blank, pregnant spaces of your breaths and your movements, where stillness is the nourishment you need before your next path, your new door, appears. Don’t fear the liminal place of being. Trust that is has arrived and settled in with the most divine timing and trust that the work in the stillness, the work that you cannot begin to imagine, the delicate intricate work of metamorphosis that takes place in the dark stillness of surrender, will finish on time and the fog will again lift. You are safe in this most sacred of liminal places. I feel this now as the lead being our shadows, our inner most darkness, our fears and our worries. For any organism to thrive, there needs to be a mutually-honouring balance of the wisdom of the feminine and the wisdom of the masculine. . . In natural health, we know that imbalance leads to pathology. . . A few posts down, we were lamenting the loss of the village that is so necessary for young parents, especially those doing the birthing, the breastfeeding and the most hands-on, day-and-night care of young ones. . . One commenter pointed out that our modern communities are based around economics - not around the needs of families, and of all humans, through their life cycles. It's set up to make addicts and consumers of us ... not thriving individuals, families and communities. @getfitgoxvegan . . True community is actually counter to the call and compulsions of commercialism. . . Society is set up to serve the interests of neo-liberalist capitalism. This is what happens where there is imbalance: when the wisdom of the masculine is validated and the wisdom of the feminine is dismissed and invalidated (as in a patriarchy). . . The wisdom of the masculine is not bad or wrong. It's just meant to be in balance and in check, like anything. Nothing wrong with thriving financial prosperity, for any organism. Creating balance within, means creating balance around you~ We hold our stories, our truth and our knowing within our bodies. it is the physical manifestation of our unseen selves. As we are here on earth having a very physical experience, the body is a portal to our higher knowing. The body serves as a messenger to understand what is serving us and what isn’t. It speaks the language of our soul, it speaks a language through physical sensations, energetic pathways and deep feeling. When we listen to our body when it speaks to us, then it doesn’t need to scream at us later. When we move with honour of our bodies wisdom and knowing, choose surrender over the expectations we creat for ourselves in such busy lives~then we allow a space for breath, reflection, rest and nourishment. For me there is still the imprint to want to over-ride my bodies knowing and get on with it, keep on my mission, get things done. But if I allow myself the space and rest I need, even in small but intentional ways, then my creativity, productivity, passion and flow is so much more vital when my body is ready again~ So this morning after I welcomed the day in with some songs on my guitar, I crawled back into bed, my dogs and cat beside me, also grateful for the cruisy morning. I’m surrounded by their snores, the crackling of the fire and feel grateful for my bodies knowing. Because it feels soooooo good to do this right now!
