Arythmie (première version) - détails 2023 - acier, câble, pierre, roue libre de vélo, manivelle, dynamo, dominos, câbles électriques, casque audio - dimensions variables Cette installation a été conçue pour la salle des horloges du palais Rohan, à l’occasion de l’installation Objections au musée des arts décoratifs de Strasbourg. Cette machine reprend le mécanisme d’échappement, qui est le coeur du fonctionnement des horloges mécaniques et qui tire son énergie de la traction d’un poids suspendu à une corde. Ici, le pendule est interrompu par un deuxième poids, ce qui rend le mouvement partiellement chaotique et génère des phrasés rythmiques toujours changeants. Une dynamo convertit ce mouvement en courant transmis directement au casque audio, ce qui génère un bruit grave et sourd rappellant le battement d’un coeur. On parle d’arythmie cardiaque lorsque le cœur bat trop vite, trop lentement ou de manière irrégulière. L’écoute au casque crée une sensation étrange et intropective. Le projet est réalisé intégralement à partir de matière première de récupération. La fabrication de l’objet et son fonctionnement sont tous deux conçus dans une logique d’économie d’énergie. L’objet et son autonomie font référence à notre hyper-dépendance à l’électricité et à la musique dématérialisée. Marko Ciciliani je konstruisao ovu istoriju kroz "speculative storytelling" kako bi dekonstruisao višestruka značenja ovog instrumenta, sa ciljem da na njega baci drugačije svetlo. Sva tri dela - instalacija, multimedijalni koncert i predavanje-performans - međusobno se nadopunjuju kao neka vrsta transmedijalnog pripovedanja gde svaki deo referiše na zamišljenu istoriju iz drugog ugla, ali svaki može stajati i sam za sebe. Marko Ciciliani je kompozitor, intermedijalni umetnik i izvođač. Fokus njegovog umetničkog rada leži u komponovanju performativne elektronske muzike, uglavnom u audiovizuelnom kontekstu. Interaktivni video, svetlosni dizajn i laserska grafika često igraju sastavni deo u njegovim kompozicijama, kao i elementi ergodičnosti ili transmedijskog pripovedanja i spekulativne fabulacije. Ciciliani je profesor kompjuterske muzičke kompozicije i dizajna zvuka na Institutu za elektronsku muziku i akustiku (IEM) Univerziteta za muziku i scenske umetnosti u Gracu. Osmislio je i vodio umetnički istraživački projekat GAPPP od 2016. do 2021. u kojem je sa timom umetnika/istraživača istraživao umetnički potencijal elemenata iz kompjuterskih igara u kontekstu eksperimentalne audiovizuelne kompozicije.

'Un día en México' by FRANCE JOBIN + YAMIL REZC (LINE_152) In 2022, LINE artist France Jobin was preparing for a residency at Casa Del Lago in Mexico. Eager to brush up on her Spanish, she dove into the Mexican-American series 'El Candidato" for preparation. Amidst watching, she was entranced by the remarkable soundtrack, prompting her to halt and delve into the composer behind it. Like a note cast into the sea, with no anticipation of a response, she reached out to the composer, Yamil Rezc, to convey her admiration for the music. To her surprise, he replied. Skipping ahead to April 2022, the pair met in Mexico City. They embarked on a leisurely stroll along La Reforma, capturing numerous field recordings along the way, and soon realized that they were musically kindred spirits. Later that year, Jobin received an invitation to Mutek MX to present "Entanglement AV" with Markus Heckmann. Jobin set aside a day to collaborate with Rezc at his studio. They fired up all the equipment and began a spontaneous improvisation session, seamlessly transitioning from one instrument to another. The subsequent year was spent refining and editing the tracks from afar. ✨Simultaneously cosmic and subterranean: inside the We Are Warriors light and sound installation in the Redcliffe Caves. I’ve long been curious to visit the man-made caves in the triassic red sandstone cliffs which give the Redcliffe area of Bristol its name. The current “We are Warriors” installation (aimed at creating dialogue around voice, voicelessness, solidarity, and resilience) - and any chance to hang out with @rosiebeeh, @meg.rambles.on and @kayleighmulq - was the perfect opportunity on the bank holiday weekend. Initially excavated in the Middle Ages to provide sand for glass and pottery production, the caves were further developed from the C17th to C19th and largely used as storage for trade goods. "Misticanza", 2024 by @rodrigotoro.m Discover the experimental sound machine by Rodrigo Toro Madrid, which was specially developed for the Kunsthalle Palazzo. Influenced by Stravinsky's music for "Le Sacre du Printemps", Rodrigo Toro Madrid decided to build the installation at the Kunsthalle Palazzo in the shape of a horn. A large metal construction now hangs in the centre of the room, looking raw and like a prototype. Sounds from different sources emanate from it. On the one hand, it is music that can be heard in the telephone waiting loop of the Basel Migration Office. This was recorded by Rodrigo Toro Madrid and slowed down so that the frustrating, protracted waiting time becomes audible. In addition, creaking noises can be heard, which are recorded cumulatively by the microphones mounted on the floor. In this way, the sound changes with the footsteps of the visitors throughout the duration of the exhibition. Rodrigo Toro Madrid's sound machine has an experimental character. The cables, which look like roots, and the horn, which looks like a flower pot, give the machine the appearance of an artificial plant that reacts to visitors' inputs with sound responses. VOX AETERNA: Two Day Howlround Residency at @divfuse 11th-12th May. (Photo: @shotbytalie) Howlround returns to project DIVFUSE to create a live, improvised sound installation and a pair of evening performances, using the voices of whoever comes along and cares to take part. Please come and donate your own voice - or anything else of sonic interest you might happen to have with you?! "The installation will consist of an ‘eternal choir’ created by a series of vocal recordings made on a single tape loop stretched across the project space and running continuously throughout the day (or at least until it finally disintegrates and a new one takes over). Visitors and participants will be invited to listen in then contribute their own voices, the only instruction being that they harmonise with whatever was on the loop before them. Removing the tape machine’s erase head from the equation means that theoretically it should be possible to build up multiple layers of interlocking voices that blend, morph and disintegrate together before your very ears. Although given that this is vintage technology, nothing is ever certain. What we can guarantee is that we’ll create sounds that nobody else has ever made before and we’ll create them together. "Low Noise - High Output" (2024) - Interactive Sound Installation, created during artist residency at Givat Haviva. 4 suspended objects encapsulating sounds, memories and experiences from my reality over the past months while capturing the music that underlies within them. The blend of funerals, music,the surroundings of Givat Haviva and military service coalesced into a singular reality for me.
