BOOK REVIEW Title: Girl with the Diary Genre: Fiction Rating: 4/5⭐️ Aren’t we all fans of every story that has a “budding writer” as its main character? I mean don’t you remember Lolita, Little Women, and almost all the protagonists of Stephen King? This is a story about a girl named Kia, A teen residing in the Scotland of India, Coorg, who has a love interest, Ayush. Reading the above lines, you might imagine their book to be simple and sweet but there is a twist. This cute rom-com-looking book is about to turn into a thriller as the budding writer Kia’s obsession with her mother's death puts her in trouble. She finds a diary that opens the door to misery. Kia unintentionally solved a crime that happens ages ago. She was just putting the puzzle pieces together but she had no idea how this would change everything. Our main character is not a coward. She decides to face the danger with her two comrades, Ayush and Dev who are doing everything they can to support her. The book has emotion, romance, friendship, mystery and not to forget a beautiful scenic setting. If I were you, I would pick up the book for the weekend. Looking at the book cover, where a girl is sitting peacefully, carrying a diary, surrounded by greenery, one can never guess that this is a thriller. Do you think the book cover should have been spicy? If only the book cover had the element of mystery, it would make a great first impression. Throughout the story, Kia changes a lot which means the author has done a great job writing the plot. Not to forget, the bond between the three, Kia, Dev and Ayush was the highlight of the book for me. It is one powerful read centered on the power of women through the proper sketched character of Asherah who happens to be a normal girl at first yet becomes a warrior set on a mission to safeguard her own self & her kingdom from the evil spread by Sandor. Asherah is one strong character, a special child who is more like the answers of the prayers of her parents & throughout the book,the emphasis on the strength within every women is depicted with clarity. I liked how the author has written this piece of work. With no particular targetting to either gender. Quite smoothly, & in a way that readers can read & appreciate Asherah as their very own. Throughout the book, there are no writing errors & everything is quite sequential. Neither any detail is overdone nor missed. There are many sentences I could connect to like "Death always scarred the living." The beautiful cover & the title compliment each other. Hello everyone, how is your weekend going? ☺️ Today I went on a short hike and on our way back I passed this beauty! 😍I can never walk past these public bookshelves without at least taking a look. There was a thriller that looked promising and I've adopted it. 😎 I've been thinking a lot about balance and slow living in the last weeks. Over the last year, work has taken over a lot of my life and the rest was spent taking care of other people. This week I have a few days off and so far it's been very active and just time for me. I've been climbing yesterday, hiking today, tomorrow is another climbing session, ... It doesn't feel like balance yet, more like the other extreme, but I hope it can tip the scale a bit so I can find my footing again long-term. 🤷♀️
