Although this might not fit the image of the Tom Ford suits and designer brand sunglasses that the Bond films offer us… I can honestly say 5.11 has some of the best clothing/ gear in the industry. De-watching several Star Wars movies last week I couldn’t help but notice Obi-Won and Kyi-gon use a similar breathing apparatus in Star Wars Episode 1 And the last pic is a REAL Life version of this breathing apparatus that apparently only costs $250 most websites I looked at. The UK heatwave means it's time for my #rogermoore inspired yellow short-sleeved shirt to come out of the wardrobe! For those unaware, this 1981 adventure is the only #007 film to portray a serving Prime Minister. Thatcher doesn't mention the spy battles in the Mediterranean in her later memoir, but perhaps that's because it was all top secret. 😉 This is one of my favourite old #jamesbond films, one that draws a great deal from the original stories of #ianfleming particularly Risico. One thing it lacked for me watching on TV or DVD was the rich cinematic quality I expect from EON Productions. However, the Blu-ray version totally solves this, and feels more like an upgrade than any of the other films in the series. It’s Travel Tuesday and we are off to Venice, Italy, and St. Mark’s Square for a location from Moonraker. This is the Venini Glass Shop that Bond goes into in as he is trying to uncover Drax’s master plan. My photo is from a trip there in 2010 so the canopy seen in the movie is long gone. In honor of today being the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby 🐎 I’d like to make the comparison to a scene from the Fleming novel, Diamonds Are Forever and the Kentucky Derby in 2019 where the odds on favorite “Maximum Security” won the race but was later disqualified for an illegal maneuver. Similar to “Shy Smile” being disqualified in the novel. In the novel, Bond ventures to Saratoga Springs, NY to the horse race track. Where he is told to bet on a horse in a fixed race to win his payment for smuggling the diamonds in from the UK to US for the Spangled Mob. In the novel, Bond is able to get in contact with the jockey of the horse before the race. And the jockey thinks of a way to still win the race…. While also not allowing the Spangled Mob to get away with fixing the race. Connery Overall: 71.2 Lazenby Overall: 53 Moore Overall: 67.3 Dalton Overall: 67 Brosnan Overall: 69.8 Craig Overall: 80.4 Overall: 68.1 The Bond marathon has been one of my favourite marathons of all time despite it feeling long and tedious. The way the actors aggregate rating turned out is not surprising to me at all. Daniel Craig has always been a favourite of mine, Sean Connery did it first and set the standard for those to follow, and Pierce Brosnan still remains a favourite of mine, but drops to third overall. I don’t have much of a comparison, but there’s a lot of positives to take away from the series. Biggest one is stunts for me. I found quite a few stunts from way back that have been revamped into extraordinary today. There’s more to the franchise than just the Bond Theme song, and that’s whyI fell in love with the score through and through. It continually got better as the films progressed. The music definitely enhanced all the emotions of the screen. The visuals overall were very pleasing, but it was a struggle with the early films as such graphic imaging didn’t quite mesh at the time. The biggest gag for me is the whole one armed slap or punch behind the neck. You know if you try it in real life it doesn’t quite work the same, but I felt like the gag ran too long. George Lazenby was by far my least favourite actor and not even because he did a one and done Bond film. I’m the end he just didn’t feel cut out to play the role, or simply didn’t care. Part of me thinks if he did beyond one film into three films or so he could’ve found his groove, but nonetheless he’s not much to speak of. I wish Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan played more times. Dalton was definitely a good transitory Bond as the feel of the films went from one distinct filming style to another ushering in the modern era. I feel Brosnan’s Bond will always be the most memorable in the end because he went beyond the films with an addition of video games that are still played to this day. Continued in the comments…..

It’s one of many fun scenes the pair share together as they infiltrate Zorin’s stud farm searching for clues as to how he’s manipulating equine bloodlines. Knowing Zorin would have their room bugged, the pair bicker away on tape while they secretly have a proper conversation on the balcony! Despite its criticisms, I always find “A View To A Kill” an entertaining Bond film from a time when they could be equally fun and thrilling in equal measure.
