Got into Playa much later than I wanted to tonight due to baggage delays and other mishaps, but such is life. Still made it in to the opening night rooftop event for a bit for the women’s travel fest. It felt great to be surrounded by women entrepreneurs in the travel industry. Looking forward to the next 2 days at the conference and the ongoing learning and growth within the industry. Playa Del Carmen is a cute, lively, and touristy type of town. I felt safe roaming the streets solo at night. At the same time, it is loud and a party town so choose your stay accordingly. Can we talking about this dresser for a minute??? My original plan was for black with the wood drawer fronts and top. Based on the image i saw online I went with the cedar stain (yes I know cedar has red hues)… well after two coats of the “gel stain” they’re a little more red than I was going for. I was told the online image was after four coats so I guess we’ll see… So I googled color combos that compliment cedar… whites, beige, green, etc… so I did some mock ups and would love some input please!!!! Trying to use what I have on hand so not to spend too much more money on this piece lol… Pictures… 1. My piece is it’s original glory 2. The color cedar I was wanting 3. I had planned to stay home, make a few phone calls, and then run errands, but my friend Lane called me and offered to buy me dinner. she also had errands, we decided to run errands together and have a late lunch. Perfect, except nothing goes as planned. Had a nice Wednesday, 70 degrees, not too hot. The weather was just right, it had a nice breeze. Lane picks me .The first stop is a quick stop at the dentist for Lane. Before the dentist we stopped at a Dunkin Donut that they shared space with a Baskin Robbin. I had a muffin and two scoops of ice cream; butter pecan and chocolate chip. Lane also had a muffinl, she washed it down with a coffee milkshake. The dentist took longer than expected. However, the office was next to a path that led to a lake. I decided to take a walk, the best decision of the day, it was a beautiful walk, I enjoy the landscape, nature and beauty are healing. The walk controlled the chaos in my head.We missed lunch and had dinner instead, which was the original plan. Our previous snacks tied us up, we had thai. I got home and hung my Frida Kahlo jumpsuit back on the wall, which is where it has been hanging since I bought it on my trip from Puerto Rico months ago. The 🌎 is nicer when shared It felt good to be with a friend who wanted to do something nice for me. I've been really down - it's nice to have genuine friends who show you care, not social media friends who pretend they care about you. OK... so my operation didn't go as planned yesterday unfortunately 😓 I had 1 of the 3 things needed doing before my stats dropped while under anaesthesia and they had to wake me up. So I have a little wait In between my next check up, where we will make a plan for my next operation 🤞 Going forward, my update still stands regarding business amendments (please see my post from Thursday). The entire UK Transit system is in the midst of a labour strike, which makes getting around a bit of a challenge. It sure adds to the adventure! We arrived at Kings Cross Station with plenty of time before our train 🚆 to find out that our train was cancelled 🤯. The LNER attendants were very accommodating, and we managed to get on a train to Leeds only an hour later than the original. All things considered, it wasn’t too terrible. We spent the afternoon exploring Leeds, visiting the armoury museum & enjoying gins on the patio! So, I sit here, stained tank top from the day of meal prep, hot, sticky, tired, with a long night of work ahead…. With my head held high, raising a glass to you… Know this… if you are challenged, struggling, trying to get through the ever-abundant changes that keep coming your way… you are not alone. Here is the (only) picture of my little nutball in his first Jubba/ Kurta / Panjaabi set.❤️❤️ And he was looking adorable 😘😘 my mother had bought this from Kolkata when he was just 3months old and it is now that he could wear it.. at 18mo😂. This was a super special wedding that we travelled to Kerala the last weekend.. it was a wedding where we had a lot of common friends coming over and people whom Gaby has seen nearly every weekend here in Bangalore. .. me and my husband were in the thought that this will be an easy peasy wedding and our son will be comfortable and his own space. But our thoughts were far from reality... He was all fine as long as we leave him to run around and spoil the entire wedding decoration but would not be entertained by anyone except for biting his mom and dad's nose 😩... He refused to eat anything and became cranky and sleepy.. there was a point of time when I was in tears as I could not talk to my friends and felt laine sitting in a corner or walking around him to ensure he did not hurt himself.. when the music started my son started clapping and enjoying and I sighed with a relief.. until when he saw the red violin.. he silently crossed the big speakers and went to the violin stand and picked it up and started running before he got caught ( oh yes very Sneaky) and when I caught hold of him and yanked it away .. my sone had his first every meltdown 🥺 i was in tears and exhausted from the day... And i hear comments from a stranger.. he is a rowdy baby right... I just smiled and excused myself.. but that evening left a very sad feeling for me and my husband... The 1st time I held my baby felt nothing like I always imagined... 🏨I walked into the hospital with so much excitement for the birthing experience. Yes you read that right- I was excited about pushing! Even planned to reach down and help pull him out once his head & shoulder were out💪🏽 🗒️wishlist: #naturalbirth / Try everything before medication / Leave the same or next day. Reality: followed the plan for 24hrs (contractions/ massage/ bathtub / alternative pain meds) before the pain took all my power and I needed an #epidural to get a little break. THEN: Baby going into extreme stress / Heart rate dropping multiple times / staff standing ready to do an emergency c-section/ stress levels going up for everyone / making a choice we felt was best for our baby and meeting him 15min later after C-section 💥 I got to hold him almost an hour after he was born. He immediately knew who I was & what to do. On my side: my emotions were drained from the stress of wondering if he'd be born alive. I was in shock & overwhelmed. Barely able to hold him & definitely not able to care for him from all the medication. 1hr later, scare number 2 as I lost consciousness from excessive bloodless. Treatment received....and of course...more soul numbing medication💔. Spent day 1 looking through fog as Peter and midwifes cared for my baby, unable to do it myself. The guilt grew & so did my disappointment😔. This was nothing I pictured our first day together being like. I've dreamt of this moment my whole life. Over the next few days we had many ups & downs, tears & laughter, stress & rejoice. Learning that we never before really KNEW WHAT LOVE WAS!!! We are finally home: Happy & grateful for our happy, healthy & perfect little boy. Soaking in every moment, adjusting and making memories. What a bundle of Joy & happiness, amazing how he fits Benson his necklace, without any hesitation he lift up his head, put it on mummy, so much more comfortable then the chocking chain around his neck. It looks and feels like he is taking Benson his spirit for a good run, exploring the area where Benson used to have so much fun... grief and loss in a different jacket, after I asked the question to myself.. If I choose this, what will this create. I tell you nature 3 x a day, walks in nature my insuline intake is in 3 days alteady half way, bars running, podcast on repeat in my ears, insights and laughs, getting easely bored is a capacity ha haaa...greatness, and oww my god, Rocky rocks the boredom, sadness out of this house. The unconditional cuddles. How much joy are you ready to receive today? Honestly, I am laughing with so much of love and happiness, as he has Benson, Puck, Lola & Digby trades all the way, beautiful reminders of how much joy his former brothers and sister used to give me... Anyone else out there ever have a perfect plan completely unravel? For the first time since before Covid, Stephen and I decided to plan out our route a few months in advance! Who were we kidding?! We put quite a bit of work into mapping everything out, making reservations, etc. Then, fuel prices started suddenly increasing. Should we still go to CA to see family? Should we reverse our route? Should we go somewhere else entirely? There were a lot of “should we”s… At the end of the day we decided to stick with the plan. But as soon as we left my family in LA, everything started going wrong 😂 We joked that maybe we made the wrong decision! * One campground had no sewer hookups (we weren’t up for boondocking as we had a lot of work to get done) * Another campground had no WiFi (see above) * Our latch broke on our fridge on a travel day and we opened the door to food spilled everywhere (including TOMATO SOUP! 😩) and hundreds of dollars of spoiled food (we had just been to Costco the day before) * Our leveling system broke * Our slide malfunctioned * We lost the bolt that holds our leaf spring on the hanger and got stranded at a rest stop overnight * Our batteries randomly died Y’all…I was done!! By the time AAA was there jumpstarting our batteries (we were still hitched as we were staying at a Camping World overnight and we couldn’t get the jacks up to unhitch the truck and do it ourselves!), I was looking at houses on Zillow! Y’all. This season has just keeps kicking me in the gut. We got in from camping last night to yet another gut punch…in the Ranunculus bed this time. (I’ll spare you the details unless you are plant nerd and want the details.) 😜 I asked Eric if I could cry yet. He said, “not yet….just keep going.” So, I went outside and covered the bed with shade cloth to try to extend these blooms (that is if I can save them). I recently told my extension agent that I’ve had more problems before this season has even started that I did the entire season last year. It’s true, but, like she and my husband are telling me, I’ve got to just keep going. So, if you have nothing else going on today, keep your friendly, local flower farmer in your prayers. Let the #anniversaryshenanigans begin...also travel days are stressful 😳🤣 . .. .. . Day got off to a good start when @corey.gibson surprised me with first class plane tickets... Skip forward to Denver (we won't talk about the kid who kicked the back of my seat the whole flight) and baggage claim took an hour. By which time our shuttle driver was antsy and running late pissing off the other passengers. Hit Breck and begin with the drop offs... Get to our accomodations and find the driver left my bag (Boots and Helmet) with the previous family at another hotel 🤦 Eventually get it back. View from the room is alright 😜 #skiinskiout Head to the market and a miscommunication between us means the 4 minute walk I suggested was closer to 20... In -10°C weather...up an icy hill... With a load of shopping from the market 🤦 Taco place is fully booked so we get takeout, only to have the hotel shuttle forget to pick us up... Standing outside for 30 minutes in above-mentioned -10°C with tacos and margaritas and no gloves is not wise 🤣 But no complaints about being in a #happyplace ... Easily one of the most hectic Thanksgivings ever but it went alright for my first time cooking. Even though I had to go to a friends house to cook. It was only about half what I wanted to cook but I got out yams, mashed potatoes, ham, stuffing, and turkey.
I got myself ready for recording some gaming videos, but got really mad because of sensory overload caused by fruit flies constantly flying in my face and other stuff combined. I did get one episode recorded, but feel like that wasn't enough for this look not to be considered "wasted", so here's a selfie. If there is one thing I’ve learned over the past year, it’s that things don’t always go as planned. Yes, as a 40 year old woman I already knew this, but there is nothing like working with animals that will serve as a greater reminder. Can I get an amen?!? You must be able to look ahead and plan, but not get discouraged when that plan doesn’t pan out. You must be able to pivot, think on your feet, and be willing to devise a plan B (and sometimes a plan C,D and E)! You must have dedication, because sometimes, somewhere between plan D and E, you find yourself questioning why you do this. You find yourself wanting to give up. But the strong ones don’t quit, they fall back, regroup, and find a new solution. This morning we had a problem on our hands when we went to feed. You can check it out in my stories (along with the solution). It seems we’ve had a lot of them around here lately. Nothing huge, but when they all add up, even the small ones can be stressful. At times I yell that I’m not sure why I’m doing this. I scream that I want to quit. My girls hear and see it, and for that I’m ashamed, but what they also see is that my actions are louder than my shouting at escaped or stubborn animals. They see that even though I’m frustrated, I continue to show up. I may take a minute to cool off, but I always come back with a new plan. I hope they can take this lesson and apply it to life. I hope they will grow up to be problem solvers.
I know some people don't believe that the astrological alignment of the planets affects us on this planet, but this was kinda funny and I had to share. This Retrograde period feels so powerful, there have been so many glitches (Fb, IG and WhatsApp out for hours,) outages (electricity outage on Mon,) mistakes, and slips. I have been the recipient of some mistakes and have also made them. Here is one theme I'm seeing, especially for this round. Maybe the mistakes are happening to invite us to soften our ego more. Instead of fighting for the corrections and the justice to counter miscommunication during this time, maybe it's an invitation to let things go a bit, soften, and not take it all so personally. I'm letting go of mistakes that have affected me and I'm forgiving myself for mistakes I have made. Every once and a while, we try to match up dogs based on energy and play style. Today we tried to get Daisy to play with Buddy. Daisy just wanted back in with the big kids. Buddy showed interest in Henry. Henry didn't care. Huddy wanted to play with Buddy. Buddy had better things to do. Henry wanted Huddy. Huddy agreed and off they went. And so are the days of our lives 🤦🏻♀️
