Mindfulness Monday post! Mindfulness is being thrown around in so many reels, convos, etc and that’s a good thing! But what is mindfulness really? It’s having awareness in the present moment. Looking in someone’s eyes as you pass them by and saying good morning with intention. Tasting each bite of your food and enjoying the flavors as you chew. It’s painting outdoors and noticing how different colors mix to make another or how the lead or rock leave different markings than the paint brushes do. With little ones and adults it’s great to remove as many distractions as possible and focus on one task. Usually if it’s outdoors or involves being creative, they can win at being mindful for that moment. What a game.....the kids smashed it. 5 months after losing to Hindley green 9-2, the team has turned it around massively and really stepped up with a convincing 9-5 win. It was only a few late goals from them that closed the gap a little, but the kids were in cruise control at the point. There goal keeper made some outstanding saves early on to keep us at bay, but the kids played some great football, implementing our training drills into the game, which resulted in some amazing team goals. Busy day today! We have a new little lion that started today! He smashed his first day, and we had lots of smiles, giggles, and big belly laughs! ( I'm never able to catch these when they happen, and kids just know when the camera is there!) We had free play to get everyone started and settled in! The little lions loving the new chair beds! Our new little lion even read everyone a story on the beds! Nanna Pen (my assistant) had everyone engrossed in 10 in a bed story time! Witnessed new friendships being made with babbling conversations and enjoyed the sun coming out in the garden for some free play outside! The little lions loved chasing and being chased by Rex! 2 little lions have now learnt how to get on and off the see saw and use the see saw together by themselves now 🥹 we had some messy play with dough and used hammers and dinosaurs to make patterns! The best way to teach children to love and respect the environment and others is by being an example. They see us using reusable bags, and picking up plastic bottles on our walk, and helping someone in need. Ahimsa is one of the Yamas you can read about in The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. It means practicing to choose kindness and care everywhere the time and not harming with our actions or thoughts. Let’s teach children at a young age and hope this kindness spreads. The more good humans we raise the more good radiates out to the world.
