Your digestive system is a key part of the detoxification process, along with your liver, and during perimenopause when typically, you are likely to be processing more oestrogen than ever as your oestrogen levels peaks and troughs. So you need this process to be working super well to cope with the demand and make sure everything is working smoothly and safely. Eating lots of colourful and varied plant fibre, including cruciferous veggies, is hugely helpful. The colour and fibres feed beneficial microbes and helping them thrive can help push out the potentially pathogenic microbes. Beans and lentils in particular are excellent - for supporting those microbes 𝗮𝗻𝗱 effectively carrying the broken down oestrogen out of the body. However, many, many people have issues with beans, also cruciferous vegetables and loads of fibre 💨 Is that you? Including just a small amount of beans/lentils and gradually building up to a normal size can help your microbiome adjust. Making sure that you chew 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 can help enormously too.
