I am now working out 3/4 times a week doing 30 minute hit workouts, because this boy and our home keeps me BUSY!! We go outside pretty much every day it’s nice out and that’s a workout in itself. I’m still about 18lbs over my pre pregnancy weight, mind you I was 189lbs when I gave birth. Pre baby I was 127lbs. There are different approaches to weight loss and one of the easiest ones according to my personal experience and some of my clients is intermitent fasting. I have been doing it for 6 months and it turned out to be a lifestyle for me. The outside results are obvious...belly fat loss, better skin...I also have more energy to play and run after the kids, improved mental clarity, improved feeling of happiness and overall well being... It also does not require extra time, calorie restriction, cutting carbs, buying supplements, protein shakes etc. I use the 16:8 method which means no food for 16 hours and eating during the other 8 hours. The biggest mistake stopping you from losing those 20lbs for good: You’re focused on the fastest way to GET there, not the best way to STAY there. Listen, if you can’t see yourself doing it for a decade, don’t even consider doing it for a day. Things like low carb, WW, weight loss shots, and Optavia, are all approaches that get you fast results. The excitement is short-lived, though. The problem is that they’ll have you gaining the weight back faster than you can blink b/c you’ll go right back to your old habits after News flash - lasting results require lasting change… …but lasting change does NOT mean you should be drinking weight loss shakes for the rest of your life. I didn’t realize how WRONG I was. I spent hours running on the treadmill, eating salads & shakes for “meals”, taking diet pills… Only to overeat on the weekends because it was my “last chance” to cheat on my diet before Monday. I was stuck in this cycle of restriction, overeating, punishment… and saw no way out. In 2012, I thought in order to lose weight I had to move more + eat less. Things had to be extreme. And because I kept failing I thought I just didn’t have what it takes to reach my dream body. That I just needed more discipline. Which left me so frustrated and hopeless… What I didn’t know at the time was I needed to focus on changing my habits and shifting my identity. Not just chasing weight loss and a number on the scale. It took me YEARS to figure out that… ❌ 1,200 calorie diets were setting me up to fail ❌ restricting during the week & binging on the weekends wasn’t sustainable ❌ you don’t have to workout 7 days a week for 2 hours to see results Basically, my approach to weight loss sucked. I was trying to go from 0 to 100 and was focused on OUTCOMES, not HABITS, which kept me in a vicious cycle. This is also common amongst most busy moms who struggle with perfectionism & all-or-nothing thinking. Especially because we think we need to do the same thing to lose weight before we had kids, even though that’s not realistic anymore.
