The goal is to find foods/fluids that will help you replace carbs used for energy during the first half as well as replace fluids and electrolytes lost in sweat. Choose easily digestible, carb-rich options that have minimal to no fat, protein or fiber ๐๐ฅจ๐ฌ๐ฅคA general guideline is to consume 30-60g of carbs per hour. If demands are higher, consuming more can be beneficial. However, thereโs a science to it: evidence suggests the body canโt efficiently absorb more than 60g/hour of a single carb source, risking GI upset and absorption issues. Combining different carb forms, such as glucose and fructose, can enhance absorption rates, enabling players to potentially consume up to 90g per hour ๐ช ๐โโ๏ธ Remember, just as you practice for game day, you MUST trial what fuel youโll use during comp- this is what off/pre-season is for ๐ซก So what are the recommendations? * Start with 30g carbs/hr * Gradually increase to 90g/hr as tolerated * Individualise and practice these strategies during training sessions. Road to 60 Saya bukan penggemar olahraga. Dulu sih, pas langsing, prefer olahraga berenang, main basket, voli atau badminton. Tapiiii kalau disuruh memilih satu, saya akan langsung jawab : berenang. Why? Karena berenang satu-satunya olahraga yang tidak mengeluarkan keringat. Saya paling tidak suka berkeringat dan tidak pernah menemukan kesenangan dari aktivitas olahraga. Aktivitas yang menyenangkan bagi saya cuma baca buku, nulis, gambar dan makan gurilem. Titik. Namun, rasa itu agak berbeda ketika saya punya goal kembali ke kilogram awal ketika saya bergabung dengan perusahaan sekarang. Goal yang beneran dari hati, bukan niat di mulut doang seperti biasanya. Mengurangi porsi makan sudah, mengurangi gula sudah lama, mengurangi kopi tapi jarum timbangan tidak bergerak turun. Akhirnya coba menuruti saran menambah minum jus dan rutin treadmill setiap hari. Semangat mulai tumbuh ketika jarum timbangan mulai bergetar lalu perlahan turun meski lambat seperti siput. It's ok, metabolisme menyesuaikan usia yang tak lagi muda. Ternyata menyenangkan ya kalau kita punya satu goal dan fokus untuk mencapai itu. Somehow, kondisi mood apapun bisa berubah ketika melakukan usaha untuk meraihnya. Dan anehnya sekarang setiap kali mood buruk saya langsung treadmill karena biasanya tak lama moodnya membaik. Kali ini ternyata olahraga bisa berdampak positif bagi mood saya. Untuk sesaat aktivitas ini menjadi pelarian saya dari situasi atau kondisi yang kurang menyenangkan. Wish me luck, perjalanan masih cukup panjang menuju goal saya. The second I was done playing sports in college I started struggling with my weight.
