Chateau Dauzac, Grand Cru Classe,5th Cru 1990 (1500m) 샤또 도작(Chateau Dauzac)은 마고(Margaux) A.O.C. 지역에 위치한 아름다운 포도원으로 약40헥타르의 규모이며, 심층 자갈토로 구성되어 있다. 샤또 도작에서의 포도재배의 역사는 13세기부터 시작된 것으로 추정된다. 그러나 현재 우리에게 알려진 것과 같은 아름다운 모습을 갖추게 된 것은 1740년 토마스 미셸 린쉬(Thomas Michel Lynch)가 이 포도원을 관리하기 시작하면서부터이며, 그 후 1855년에는 메독 그랑끄뤼끌라쎄 샤또로 선정, 훌륭한 포도원으로 성장해 왔다. 그 당시(1855년) 샤또 도작과 뒤크뤼 보까이우(Ducru Beaucaillou)의 관리인이었던 에르네스트 다비드(Ernest David)가 알렉시스 밀라르데(Alexis Millardet)교수와 함께 '부이이 보르들레즈(Bouillie Bordelaise:포도나무를 고사시키는 노균병 곰팡이 치료제)'를 완성시키기도 하였다. 1988년에는 신용보험회사인 M.A.I.F.(Mutuelle d’Assurances des Instituteurs de France)가 샤또 도작을 매입하였으며, 1992년부터는 앙드레 뤼똥(Andre Lurton)에서 포도원의 경영권을 위임 받아 포도원을 경영하게 된다. 그 후 이 포도원과 와인의 품질은 비약적인 발전을 거듭하였으며, 세계적인 와인평가로부터 호평과 찬사를 받아오고 있다. 지난 2005년 6월에는 앙드레 뤼똥의 딸인 크리스틴 뤼똥(Christine Lurton)이 앙드레뤼똥의 뒤를 이어 이 아름다운 포도원의 새로운 최고경영자(CEO)로 임명되었으며, 이것은 샤또 도작의 역사에 있어서 하나의 큰 전환점이 되었다. 메독 지역의 대부분의 포도원과 마찬가지로 샤또 도작에서도 카베르네 소비뇽과 메를로를 주요 품종으로 재배하고 있다. 샤또 도작에서 수확된 포도는 줄기제거와 압착과정을 거친 후, 풍부한 색과 탄닌을 추출하기 위한 특별한 시스템이 갖추어진 스테인레스 스틸 양조 탱크에서 발효과정을 거치게 된다. 와인은 오크배럴에서 숙성되어지며, 새 오크의 사용 비율은 각각의 빈티지 특성에 맞추어 결정된다. As we get into the Maritime wines of Europe, we'll stop by the #LeftBank of Bordeaux. This Château Dauzac Margaux is a lovely blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot and struggled through a rough 2019 season. Alternating mild and cold spells brought a bud break early and then quick flowering. Heavy rainfall proved disruptive and then a heatwave settled across France in June and July. As a result, the winemakers spent more time in the vineyard than usual, which brought lots of care and attention to a troubled harvest. The result - balanced, with nicely concentrated notes of black fruits and a solid, lengthy palate that remains fresh. IE: It's gooooooooood.
