#블리스데일 #블리스데일프랭크포츠 🇦🇺🍷 잔당감은 거의 없지만 밸런스가 좋고 4개의 품종이 블렌딩 되어 있어서 각 품종별 특성을 잘 살려낸듯한 느낌! (까베르네 소비뇽, 메를로, 쁘띠 베르도, 말벡) 약간 치즈 맛이 느껴지기도 함🧀 기본적으로 오픈하자마자 코를 찌르는듯한 느낌이 들 정도로 짙은 산도의 신 향이 나며 붉은과일 계열 보단 블랙베리류쪽에 가깝다🫐 약간의 오크터치가 있으며, 후추향, 유칼립투스, 민트, 가죽향이 특징이다💼🫚🪵 전반적으로 향신료 느낌이 많이 난다. 한가지 특별한 점은 와인이 목구멍으로 완전히 다 넘어가고 나서 입에 침이 상당히 많이 고이는걸로 봐서는 확실히 산도에서 오는 피니쉬가 꽤 있는 편이라는 것? 호주의 이런 블렌딩이 칠레나 미국의 블렌딩 스타일과는 확실히 차이가 느껴지는 부분이, 잔당쪽 보다는 스파이스 오크 쪽에 더 무게가 실린듯한 느낌이다🌶️🫑 비비노에서도 그렇고 많은 후기나 리뷰를 보니 바닐라향이 난다고 하는데 솔직히 나는 잘 모르겠다. 종류에 상관 없이 모든 구운고기류와 최상의 페어링을 보여줄 것 같은 느낌!🍗🥩🍔🍖🥓 신대륙 특유의 잔당이 싫은 분들에게 추천ㅋ #호주와인 #frankpotts #bleasdale #bleasdalewines #australiawine #

I decided to delve into the cellar and take a wine for each of the kids birth years for our trip to Kangaroo Island. I’m pleased to say that no one was disappointed! 🙌 We started with a @langmeilwinery 2012 Blockbuster Shiraz. Astonishingly bright and fresh for a $25 wine. It has years left in it! 🍷👍 Next up was a personal favourite which was loved by the whole crowd, the 2009 Riesling from @bestswines Nicely developed lemon curd and soft floral notes, but still zingy and utterly delicious. Again, plenty of time left in this one! 👏 No surprises amongst the rest either, with the @tyrrellswines 2008 Semillon (the oldest of the kids) showing just how long this style will live. I’m so pleased I have more. @kay_bros Shiraz is always good, and this Block 6 from 2010 was no exception. Showing some lovely soft tertiary notes, but you certainly wouldn’t need to rush to open it. It will continue to reward you for a few years yet. 🍷 Our first foreign wine was King Billy from @westcapehowewines in the Independent Republic of Westralia. I love Cabernet Sauvignon. And I’m pleased to say the whole room loved this one. I wish I had more. Certainly no issues with 2011 here! 👌 Our seafood paella was complemented by a 2014 @jimbarrywines Riesling. No danger with this one. It has years left in it! Some lovely aged Riesling character, but plenty of fresh citrus, talc, and slate. I have more, and I’m happy. 😊 My mate always brings a @bleasdalevineyards And that’s fine. They’re bloody delicious. And their 2022 Generations Shiraz, bought from their lovely Cellar Door during a recent camping trip, is no exception. 🍷👌 A 2012 Pinot Noir from the amazing folks at @ata_rangi is a wine that never disappoints. Truly world class Pinot Noir, and a wine that I always have at home. Silky, elegant, fragrant, red currants, fresh herbs, black plums, and slightly meaty. This one disappeared far too quickly. 🐄 CALVING 🐄 Over half of our cows have now calved, and we have a bunch of beautiful brown and white calves skipping around. 🥛 Our calves stay with their mums from birth, getting all the nutrition they need from their mother's milk. 🌿 Our cows are 100% pasture fed. We do not feed them any concentrates or grain to make them produce more milk. 🥛 The rest of the cows are due to calve within the next fortnight so we are hoping to have the milk shed re-open before the end of the month. We have had lots of messages asking when milk will be available again, so thank you for your patience and support. Bleasdale Mulberry Tree Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 This wine needs time to breathe and open. But as it does is turning the spice into some great layers. I could swear I'm getting some anise on the nose, along with leathery notes, and oak. Dark dry chocolate, with dark cherries and smoke linger on the palate. There's a hint of almost a blood orange and currants at the front palate. Straight on up towards Grizedale Head and following the only path to Fiendsdale Head. Down to Bleasdale Tower, onwards to Oakenclough and reaching Grizedale Reservoir via Woodacre Pasture. 🍷 Bleasdale 2020 Bremerview Shiraz ... an Aussie Shiraz with 13.5% alcohol, almost unheard of these days - even if the 1% rule comes into effect, that still only pushes us to 14.5% - but this wine does not feel like it is anywhere near that.  👅 A well-balanced wine that leads with darker fruits: plum, blackberry and cassis; balances things with a nice acidity and some subtle, pleasant spices. Juicy and enjoyable right from the moment the cap is cracked. 👃 30 minutes down the road, this wine has gotten better: violets are now invading the nose and the palate has fully embraced its fruit core - always with that balancing acidity. 2018 Bleasdale The Iron Duke Cabernet Sauvignon After winning Winery of the Year AND Cabernet Sauvignon of the year in 2023 by James Halliday, thought it would be a good idea to check how Bleasdale’s 2018 vintage of the Iron Duke is travelling. Based in Langhorne Creek, one of the oldest wine regions in the country and thought by many to be one of Australia’s best kept secrets. Maybe not anymore with the attention Bleasdale is getting and deservedly so. 👁️ Ruby red with hints of purple 👃 Cherries, plums, blackberries, liquorice, cassis wood 👅 Firm tannins and oak grip the mouth upon first taste, but once the wine opens up, it develops into a beautiful soft cabernet packed with flavours of dark fruits, cocoa, olives and liquorice. The length is significant and the colour of this wine is awesome to look at with glimpses of purple swirling in the glass. Give it a good decant (at least 3 hours) before you drink to get everything this wine can give. Looking forward to revisiting my other bottles in 5 years. I take my charcuterie as seriously as I take my wines! And I wanted to try this Sparkling Shiraz - thanks to @jenswinelist for sharing that this was available @lcbo It’s hard to find sparkling Shiraz in Ontario, so I had to get this one from @bleasdalevineyards The wine was sweeter than I’d expected but it paired wonderfully with my charcuterie board! The saltiness from the salamis and nuts were a great contrast to the sweetness of this wine, the acidity in the wine cut right through the fatty and buttery goodness of the cheeses! 🧀 This wine was great as an aperitif, and those who like sweet wine, this a definite palate refresher! Bleasdale Mulberry Tree Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 📍Langhorne Creek The Potts Family are very proud of this release after winning so many awards including best value wine. Langhorne Creek is renowned for a less ripe, lighter style compared to the more well known Australian cab sav regions. Not a style I typically enjoy I found this bottle lacks roundness on the palate. The oak dominated without the rich fruit character to balance. The herbal pepper lends to complexity but it is not harmonious with the other flavours. Whilst well awarded and regarded this isn’t a wine I would be buying despite the low price point.
