ARENA FOR A TREE at Sunrise, Venice – an Art Intervention by Klaus Littmann The 60th @labiennale will be enriched this summer by the art project „Arena for a Tree“. This floating platform near the international exhibition combines architecture, sculpture, and stage. Its permeable wooden structure is reminiscent of the rings of a tree and offers seating for around fifty people. At its center grow three bald cypress trees, symbols of rootedness and adaptability. The temporary installation is located in front of the historic Arsenale, a former shipyard. The Arena is a place of tranquility and contemplation, focusing attention on climate and water supply issues, away from commercial interests. The Biennale’s main exhibition, „Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere,“ addresses identity and migration. Similarly, the bald cypress, the natural protagonist of the Arena, has its roots in various regions around the world, symbolizing global interconnectedness. Following „For Forest - The Unending Attraction of Nature“ (2019), a forest in a football stadium, Klaus Littmann brings art into public space and reminds us of the importance of nature. Начали с основной программы в Арсенале (и это было стратегически правильное начало, потому что основная категория странного, неловкого и «ну давай это быстро пройдем» оказалась в Садах), пообедали в @nevodi_ristorante (удобно расположен, вкусно и правильный Беллини с пюре белого персика), а затем продолжили в Giardini, чему особенно способствовала солнечная погода. Exciting News! Our MBA Arts and Cultural Management students are currently immersed in the prestigious Venice Biennale 2024! Under the curation of Brazilian curator Adriano Pedrosa, this year's theme, "Foreigners Everywhere," is drawn from a series of works started in 2004 by the Paris-born and Palermo-based Claire Fontaine collective. The works consist of neon sculptures in different colours that render in a growing number of languages the words “Foreigners Everywhere”. The phrase comes, in turn, from the name of a Turin collective who fought racism and xenophobia in Italy in the early 2000s. During their visit, our students had the privilege of exploring the pavilions at the Giardini and Arsenale, including must-see stops like the United States Pavilion, French Pavilion, William Kentridge Pavilion, and LAS Pavilion, among others. Guided by professors Carolina Ariza and Fabienne Bidaud, they engaged in thought-provoking exhibitions and dynamic discussions with industry leaders. For young, aspiring professionals in the arts and cultural sector, this experience is nothing short of enriching and inspiring. Stay tuned for more updates from their incredible journey!
