Filme: Evita (Idem) Diretor: Alan Parker Ano: 1996 Onde encontrar: @starplusbr Gênero: Drama/ Musical/ Cinebiografia Nota: 7/10 * Sinopse: A cinebiografia de Evita Perón, a maior personalidade política da Argentina. * Crítica em 5 Minutos: Existem filmes que chamam atenção pelo seu enredo, cenários e roteiro. E outros filmes chamam atenção por outros motivos. Esse é o caso de Evita, cinebiografia dramática em forma de drama musical, do sempre polêmico diretor Alan Parker (Coração Satânico, Mississipi em Chamas). Não lembro de um filme com tantas polêmicas, começando com a escalação de Madonna como Evita Perón. Depois veio a escolha de outros atores ingleses e americanos para fazer papéis de figuras latinas. E ainda teve a polêmica do anúncio que seria um musical. As filmagens na Argentina foram caóticas. Centros históricos, como a Casa Rosada, foram liberados para as gravações. Multidões se aglomeravam para ver Madonna como Evita. Polêmicas à parte, Evita é um drama eficiente de uma das maiores personalidades políticas da América Latina. Madonna realmente se entregou para o papel, entregando uma performance única, vencedora do Globo de Ouro e esnobada pelo Oscar - inclusive a música Don't Cry For Me Argentina. Evita é um filme que divide opiniões, mas não tem como negar que é deslumbrante visualmente e uma experiência cinematográfica instigante.

Boa tarde, mundo! Eu, como diversos brasileiros, passou os últimos dias só ouvindo sobre uma pessoa: MADONNA 💃 O motivo? A rainha do pop escolheu nada menos que a praia de Copacabana para encerrar sua turnê “Celebration” 🪩 Como esse perfil que aqui vos fala é mais “chegado” aos livros e filmes, resolvi trazer um post sobre o filme que foi a estreia de Madonna como protagonista de um longa-metragem. “Evita” estreou nos cinemas em 1996, trazendo como diretor #AlanParker com o roteiro baseado na peça teatral escrita por #TimRice e conta a história da primeira dama María Eva Duarte de Perón, mais conhecida apenas como Eva Perón que foi uma política, ativista, atriz e filantropa argentina e também primeira-dama da Argentina de junho de 1946 até sua morte em julho de 1952, como esposa do presidente argentino Juan Domingo Perón. Sinopse: “A história de Eva Perón (Evita), uma das mais populares primeiras-damas da América Latinade todos os tempos, e idolatrada na Argentina, é narrada em flashback. Começa mostrando a filha bastarda de um agricultor de um pequeno povoado, barrada no funeral do próprio pai, e que acaba por tornar-se a primeira-dama do seu país.” Lembro de ter assistido esse filme uma única vez (preciso mudar isso) ainda quando criança e o que me marcou muito nesse filme foi a cena em que Madonna canta “”Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” na varanda da Casa Rosada ❤️ Em uma das minhas pesquisas encontrei uma curiosidade sobre a gravação dessa música: Em 1996, Madonna estrelou o filme Evita, interpretando o papel principal. Por um longo tempo, Madonna desejou interpretar Eva e até escreveu uma carta para o diretor Alan Parker , explicando como ela seria perfeita para o papel. Depois ela passou por treinamento vocal, já que “Evita” exigia que os atores cantassem suas próprias partes. Joan Lader (treinadora vocal) observou que a cantora “teve que usar sua voz de uma maneira que nunca a usou antes. Madonna desenvolveu um registro superior que ela não sabia que tinha”. Making back $35m worldwide off of a budget of $2.3m: in addition to garnering 6 Bafta Awards, the movie was nominated for 6 Oscars, including best film, best director for auteur Parker, (Bugsy Malone, 76, Pink Floyd: The Wall, 82) best supporting actor for #johnhurt (Elephant Man, 80) & best editor for Gerry Hambling (Mississippi Burning, 88 for which he was also Oscar nominated) & took 2 oscars: 1 for it's atmospheric score by Italian synth pioneer #giorgiomoroder (Scarface, 83) & another for film maker #oliverstone 's (Natural Born Killers, 94) rather sensationalist, blatantly xenophobic script, which is adapted from by #billyhayes excellent autobiographic account, of the same name from the year before. Far superior to the movie, the book details Haynes experience of incarceration in a Turkish prison. Banned in Turkey - initially the film was set to tie-in with Amnesty International campaigns, but the NGO immediately disowned the film upon 1st viewing. Not only does it misrepresent, numerous events depicted in the book, such turning the lead character, hash smuggler Hayes, well played by #braddavis into a killer, who bites people's tongues out but it stands, comparible to 'Lawrence Of Arabia', 62, in terms of blatant Turkophobia. All the Turkish characters, inmates & warders alike, are portrayed as cartoon like villainous scum. Critics were joined in condemnation of it's dozens of inaccuracies & racism in the film by Hayes, Moroder & others in the production team. Stone would later apologize to Turkey & Parker stated he'd have made the film differently with hindsight. Beyond these huge issues, this is a good near fictional #prisonmovie #midnightexpressfilm is elegantly shot in Malta masquerading as Istanbul by cinematographer #michaelseresin. Alongside Davis & Hurt the movie stars #irenemiracle #bohopkins #randyquaid & #paolobonacelli ME is a well made & well paced & engaging enough to be near highly recommended, were it not for it's unmistakably racist undertones.

Pink Floyd The Wall (1982) directed by Alan Parker. This movie received a lot of hate when it was released, but still I get back to it, probably because Pink Floyd is one of my all time favorite bands, but also I think the visuals are amazing and go really well with the music, me personally, I’m not too big on musicals, but this one I enjoy. These were one of the moments I wish I could’ve experienced in real time, Pink Floyd releasing a highly anticipated album and they followed it up with a movie. The meaning behind the album and the movie is a personal story from the bands frontman Roger Waters, and the story of the movie follows Pink, a depressed rock star who sits motionless in front of a Television set inside a hotel suite and expressionless while remembering his late father. Flashing back to 1944, his father is killed defending the Anzio beachhead during World War II in Pink’s infancy. This moment really defined Roger and Pink Floyd’s path. Best friends Al (Nicolas Cage) and avian-obsessed Birdy (Matthew Modine) return home from Vietnam though Birdy is horribly scarred from the experience to the point where he’s confined to a mental hospital and Al makes an attempt to get through to him. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve watched anything from Alan Parker, so I thought this might’ve been good. I actually have a lot to say about “Birdy”, but fortunately it’s mostly good things. Flipping back and forth to their Philadelphia past to their painful present, the acting of our two leads is touchingly convincing; we all see Nick Cage as a giant meme, but people seem to forget he can be legitimately fantastic. But Modine? He’s a strong contender for having one of the best performances I’ve seen this year. Not only is the editing masterful, but the cinematography is beautiful; it’s not on the level of “Days of Heaven”, but it’s very good especially in Birdy’s hospital room despite the tight space. It is done by Alan Parker regular Michael Seresin so that makes sense. Accompanied by a haunting Peter Gabriel score, the tone and overall story is heart-achingly moving and we don’t get much flashbacks to their time in the war apart from a dream sequence and the last 20 minutes. My one and only problem is that the conclusion feels rushed and it ends pretty abruptly, but it does finish with a rather funny note, so it’s not that big of a deal to me. It succeeded in making me tear up and not once did I think it felt phony or schmaltzy. I’m sure some will, but I didn’t think so. Instead of flying far away from “Birdy”, you should fly towards it, perch on your couch, and be mesmerized by this affecting tale. Imperfecta, pero muy querida (por mi)… Sobre la #PrimeraDama y política argentina #EvaPerón se han escrito y producido cientos de obras, pero ninguna ha sido tan popular (a pesar de sus imperfecciones) como el #musical de #TimRice y #AndrewLloydWebber. En 1973 Rice iba en un taxi escuchando un programa sobre esta icónica mujer. Quedó fascinado y empezó a investigar sobre ella, primero con el documental #QueenOfHearts (1972) de Carlos Pasini y luego con la biografía que publicó #MaryMain en 1952, #TheWomanWithTheWhip. Su obsesión con el personaje fue tan grande, que bautizó a su hija como #Evita. Tras convencer a LloydWebber para crear juntos un álbum conceptual que contara su historia en forma de #ÓperaRock, colando tangos y paso doble, lograron lanzar #Evita en 1976. Poco después el álbum fue llevado a teatro y fue tan exitoso, que rápido saltó a #Broadway, recaudó millones, ganó premios y despertó el interés de productores de #Cine. Esto fue apenas en 1976. Pero Pasarían 20 años para que la versión cinematográfica se concretara con #AlanParker (The Wall, The Commitments) en la dirección, #OliverStone como guionista y #AntonioBanderas, #JonathanPryce y una #Madonna superlativa en el rol protagónico. Y a ver… Recuerdo que cuando se estrenó en cines la gente decía “Evita ver Evita”, “Evita verla”. Pero a la vez, la peli obtuvo 6 nominaciones al #Oscar, múltiples premios y muchos halagos a la actuación de #Madonna, el montaje y la fotografía. Y sí. La peli es visualmente impactante. Pero para mi sus mayores problemas tienen que ver con la calidad del material original. Si tragarse un musical no es para todo el mundo, qué les digo una ópera moderna donde absolutamente todos los diálogos son cantados. Esto en un cine popular venezolano en los noventa era una experiencia compleja. Luego… a pesar de que hay canciones y secuencias fantásticas, hay temas verdaderamente horrendos, especialmente los que conectan escenas. Además la escritura es una mirada foránea y superficial de una realidad que los autores no supieron capturar. Aún así, hay magia en el cuento y en la música como recurso narrativo. Está en #StarPlus
Last night The Paris screened the 1984 film Birdy directed by the great Alan Parker with music by Peter Gabriel. Originally a novel by William Wharton, this book struck a cord in me when I read it in college and then saw this beautiful film starring Matthew Modine and Nick Cage. I haven’t seen it since then and it really stands the test of time. Who knew 30 years later I would call Matthew a friend and a client. Isaac Mizrahi in “Fame” (1980) Fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi appears briefly in the 1980 film "Fame" during the audition sequence. He was 18 years old and an actual student at the High School of Performing Arts as a drama major. Director Alan Parker cast real students to play minor roles and serve as extras in the film. Laura Dean and Antonia Franceschi were students at the school when they were cast in their roles. Alan Parker dirigió a principios de los 80 uno de los musicales más famosos del cine. Luego diversas películas, series, videoclips y otros musicales han copiado a su manera la historia de “Fama”, adaptándola con los años. “Fama” marcó un antes y un después en la historia del musical, llevando a la gran pantalla bailes modernos con musica actual (hablamos de la época de los 80), revolucionando el género musical, y abriendo una puerta a nuevas coreografías e historias. La película tuvo tanto éxito que poco tiempo después se hizo una serie que llevaba su mismo nombre y contaba con algunos de sus actores. Dicha serie fue seguida por gran número de personas convirtiéndose también en un clásico de la televisión. No obstante, con la película uno disfruta desde el principio viendo como unos jóvenes que no pueden permitirse el pagar una escuela privada, se dejan la vida por conseguir un hueco en el mundo del espectáculo y obtener la fama tan soñada. En fin, buen musical que perdura a lo largo del tiempo y que cuenta con una fantástica banda sonora que lleva como canción bandera la inmortal “Fame” de Irene Cara, la cual también actúa en el film. #fame #alanparker #movie #1980
